❁ ◕Tutorials ◕
This thread is dedicated to Frequently Asked Questions of Psyche's (me). I will create tutorials here for reference so I don't have to re-type them over and over! Please feel free to look around before asking a question.

➸ ☮Basic Post Styles Tutorial ☮ Synopsis Though it may be a little hard at first, making post styles is fun and makes a good overall impression on everyone! I'll teach you the basics - but I know some other secrets that make my styles unique...but they're secret! cx
Warning: This tutorial uses photobucket only, so if you have any other image hosting website, I can't help you.☮ MaterialsYou'll need:➸ A photobucket account { x }(for hosting your cat images and getting the codes for them) ➸ This banner text generating website { x }(For those fancy colored words in your post style) ➸ An Image of Your Cat(You need images of your cat for their post style)☮ ProcedureLet's get started!~Step o1First, Get images of your cat. You can find cat images on any search engine such as google, bing, etc. (If you don't have a photobucket account already, create one now.)
Upload the image(s) to photobucket.
You can resize the images or otherwise decorate the image by clicking the "edit" option on your image once it is uploaded. For this guild, please keep images at a more small size to limit spamming. ~Step o2Go to the text banner generator website I gave you in the materials section. What I do is I usually find a cool quote on google and incorporate that as my text, but you can make up your own cool caption.
Type what words you want in the "banner text" box. Edit the banner with the other boxes. My standard font for the text is Music Hall. My standard sizes are 40 for the quote caption and 60 for the cat's name. Note that there is a color chart and a font chart at the bottom of the page so you can see what certain colors and fonts look like!
Also, if you have a long quote, you can seperate it into two text images seperated by ...
Ex: In the forest my heart lies... (edit and save as seperate image)
...and in the sky my soul resides. (edit and save as seperate image)
Note that for this tutorial, you need to break your quote in two as shown above! You'll also need a seperate image of your cat's name!~Step o3Once you have created your text banner, click on it and save it in a file where you can remember it.
Then upload it to photo bucket. Leave the sizes of it alone.~Step o4Now you can put the images and words together! You'll need codes to put them on gaia. "Codes" are certain words typed to get an image to appear/color text/etc.
On the image you wish to get, there should be several options above it. Click the one that says "share". A box will pop up. There will be more options. Click the tab that says "Get Link Code." Once there, you will see several codes offered. Look at the one with the bolded caption "IMG for bulletin boards & forums". Copy the first code! DO NOT copy the second one!
Now you have the code copied. ~Step o5Go to gaia (preferably the guilds) and click "new post" somewhere. Note that this is only to arrange your codes to create the post style and not for posting!
Paste the code in the text box.
Now you will be copying all the other codes- the ones of your cat pictures and the ones of your text- but there's a catch. You're going to arrange them around to look good. There is an code on gaia called [ align=left, center,or right ] [ /align ] You will be using this code (without spaces) to arrange your images.
I usually do post styles with the top left corner having the words first and then the cat image below it, the center having the cat's name and then the text I write, and the bottom right corner having another cat image with the words image on bottom.
But that's confusing, so let's break it down. Erase the code you just pasted. Sorry! That was just practice!
Get the image code of one of your cat pictures copied (explained in step o4) Then type this without the spaces in the brackets: [ align=left ] leave space here to paste! [ /align ] Next, paste in the space between align= and /align. Now your image should be pushed to the left. Click "preview" to make sure.
Now go to photobucket and copy the code for the first part of your quote image {by first part of quote image i mean the first part: In the forest my heart lies... image! You were supposed to seperate the quote, remember?} Go to your post box and find the [ align=left ] [ img ][ /img ] [ /align ] Click enter so that it looks like [ align=left ] [ img ][ /img ] leave space here! [ /align ]
In the space above, you will paste the code of your text image! Now it should look like a cat image with a cool quote beneath it pushed to the left.
But you're only 1/3 done! D:
Now, go back to photobucket and find the text image of your cat's name. Copy it (as in step o4). Then go to your gaia post again. Click "enter" twice after the code you currently have. Then type [ align=center ] leave space here! [ /align ] It should look like this: [ align=left ] [ img ][ /img ] [ img ][ /img ] (because you have two images now!)
[ align=center ] leave space here! [ /align ]
In the space above, paste your text image of your cat's name!
Now you'll need to do click enter to make it look like this:
[ align=left ] [ img ][ /img ] [ img ][ /img ]
[ align=center ] [ img ][ /img ]
leave space here! [ /align ]
The space above is where you will type your roleplaying text!
Now we keep going.
After the last /align, click enter twice again and type so it looks like this:
[ align=left ] [ img ][ /img ] [ img ][ /img ]
[ align=center ] [ img ][ /img ]
lol text [ /align ]
[ align=right ]leave space here! [ /align ]
Now go and find the code to your second cat image (explained in step o4) and paste it in the space above!
Now it should look like A cat image & a cool quote beneath it on the left, Your cat's name and text in the center, and another cat image to the right.
Now you need to put a space so it looks like this:
[ align=left ] [ img ][ /img ] [ img ][ /img ]
[ align=center ] [ img ][ /img ]
lol text [ /align ]
[ align=right ] [ img ][ /img ] leave space here![ /align ]
Finally, you must get the code of the second part of your text quote image (explained in step o4) {the one that is like: ...and in the sky my spirit resides.} and paste it in the space above.
At last, your post style is complete!
As you get the hang of it, you'll be doing this quicker. And soon you can rearrange it in different ways!
I hope I helped. If you have any questions, please go to my main Psyche's Skytouch Cave thread.
