Heaving a sigh, the male fox let his mug clatter onto the table noisily, a few drops of coffee staining the wooden surface. So far, after two months, he hadn't managed to make a single friend outside of his army mate, Matthew, despite his efforts to talk to others. What he had managed was to make himself nervous of going outside of his home.

The little teashop he was currently moping in was the only place he felt he could go, since not many other souls happened upon it. Most days he was left in peace there, however much he wished on the inside to meet someone else.

(sorry if thats not great, I'm not so good at starting things like this xD;)

(( S'fine x3 and a tea shop is perfect o wo~ ))

Emma let out a heavy sigh, rubbing soot off her cheeks with the back of her work glove and stretching before spotting the tea shop.

She had been craving tea, and hadn't had a proper tea time with her mother in a while, decided that would probably help her unwind from yet another failure of an invention.

She walked in, pushing her goggles up to her head and messing her hair just a bit more, and tucking her thick work gloves into her belt as she made her order and waited, spotting a rather mopey fox in the process. "I wonder what's bothering him," She mumbled to herself, and grabbed her tea when it was served to her, holding the cup as she tentatively approached.
"Excuse me?" She asked, hoping to get his attention and flashing a warm smile. "Are you alright? You seem rather down about something..."

"Hmm?" He looked up from his mug, sacrificing a few more drops of his drink to the table when he jumped, startled by her sudden voice. He wiped up the mess with his glove before swiveling in his chair to face the other fox.

"I, erh... I don't know. I'm alright I guess, just kind of down. I've been here for at least a month, but I haven't really made any friends. All I've made is an enemy. But, even her, I haven't seen in awhile." Heaving a sigh, he poked at the mug with one 'finger'. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't be throwing all of my worries on you. It's just, I'm usually so cheerful. Back with my company, I was the one always bringing up the mood, but now..." He trailed off slowly, staring into the brown, bitter liquid he had barely taken a single drink of.

"Ah..." Emma mumbled, feeling a bit guilty for startling him, her smile turning apologetic. "That's rather troubling, though... and enemy?" She asked, ears drooping slightly before she shifted her tea to one paw and held out the other to him. "Well, now you've met me," She laughed lightly, hoping he'd shake with her. "My name's Emma. And I may not be much but perhaps I could keep you company? Until you find others, that is. I'd hate to see you down..."

She shifted a little, feeling it would be too forward to take a seat at his table.
"Company?" She asked, ears perking up a bit, "Are you a military man?"

Wil took her paw tentatively and shook it. "My name is Wil. It's a pleasure to meet you. And I'd love the company." He patted the seat besides him a little, giving her a small smile.

"Enemy, yes. I... shot her with an arrow. She was attacking a kit. I probably overreacted, but I can't stand to see anyone picking on someone smaller than them." He stared into his mug for awhile, swirling it a little and watching the ripples. "I was in a sort of impromptu army, a group of mercenaries, a year or two ago. The region I come from was filled with war, especially after..." Trailing off, the male fox flattened his ears, wondering if he should go on.

Emma perked up, taking a seat next to him and sipping her tea, the liquid catching in her throat when he mentioned he shot someone with an arrow. Coughing a bit, she put down the tea cup and blinked at him a few times before nervously rubbing the back of her head, "Well... I suppose if she was attacking someone... it was provoked. Poor kit, though..." She mumbled, tapping her lower lip.

Her ears perked up as she listened to him. "Really? That's... that's fascinating. And you must be an excellent shot if you managed to deter someone from attacking without killing them!" She paused ears drooping a bit as she gave him an embarrassed smile, "I suppose if your region is war torn... fascinating isn't the word. I just never hear of this things," She mumbled apologetically and shifted, "I was born here, I haven't seen much of the world..."

"Well, I don't know how said fox is doing. I haven't seen her since then." He stared blankly into the distance for a moment before taking a large drink of his coffee. "I'm sorry if the thought of me shooting someone was a little disturbing. I guess it doesn't much affect me anymore."

With a twitch of the ear, he turned to her. "It wasn't all that bad, really, but it was definitely a lot different from here. I could tell you about it sometime if you wanted." After another drink he continued. "Is it usually peaceful around here then, I take it? It seems like the only drama is bigger foxes picking on kits," he laughed.

"Not disturbing... just... shocking?" Emma responded and shrugged a bit. "It's pretty peaceful. Family soap operas and stuff but nothing really happens..." She held a swizzle stick in her paws, meant for stirring sugar in her tea, but she just moved it along the liquid, staring into it and sighing as she dropped her muzzle into the other paw. "It's rather depressing, innit? I've only really seen the world through books... and knowing my luck with accomplishments I'll probably die here without a proper adventure to speak of my entire life," She grumbled before taking an unlady-like gulp of tea to shut herself up.

"What do you mean by that?" He asked, swirling his mug a little. "And, you know... I might be able to take you back to where I'm from, sometime." After staying quiet for a moment, he added quickly, "B-but, only if you wanted to. And I don't know if it'd work, I'd have to check with Matthew to see if..." he trailed off, biting his lip, not sure if he should continue and get her hopes up (if she was interested) when he wasn't sure what would happen.

One of Emma's ears perked up straight, looking at him with a curious expression before reaching for another packet of sugar to dump in her tea. "And why would want to a thing like that?" She said sarcastically, smirking wryly before shaking her head. "As much as I'd love to see where you're from you seem nervous about it. Especially if for some reason it would've work and you'd have to ask for permission." She paused, fidgeting and debating asking who Matthew was.

"I just want... I don't know, it's silly," She mumbled, running her paw around the rim of her cup. "Ever since I was a kid I've been jealous of my friend's wings, yanno? He can just fly away freely wherever he pleases, throw himself into any adventure. Though he spends his time sleeping on the sofa," she said, ending in a grumbled and taking a sip of her tea, settling her chin into her free paw with a wistful sigh. "I've always wanted to fly."

Wil fiddled for a bit before responding. "Well, I don't know if you'd like it, for one thing... and it's not really asking for permission. I would just need to check with Matthew to see if Heath was coming and if he'd be bringing Hyperion with him... that'd be the only way to get back there."

He sat and listened to her talking about flying before smiling a little, turning back to his mug to try and hide it. After thinking about it for a few moments, he looked back to her. "I... might be able to help you with that. The.. the flying, I mean. I couldn't make you fly, no... but I might be able to get you into the air."
PostPosted: Fri Apr 16, 2010 4:29 pm

Emma's head tilted slightly as she listened to him, blinking a few times. "H-hyperion?" She asked, wondering if she'd heard right enough to repeat it. "I... don't know what that is..."

Though she was eagerly waiting for him to explain.

"Heath and Matthew are friends of yours?"

"Matthew and Heath are two friends, yeah. From the same mercenary group. Matthew lives around here already and I think he said Heath would be coming sometime soon too." He paused for a moment, thinking of how to explain Heath's mount to Emma.

After a small amount of time he continued, "Hyperion is Heath's... well, now he's mostly a pet. But during the war Hyperion was his steed, like some soldiers use horses. I don't know if you've ever seen a dragon or not, but Hyperion is a Wyvern, a type of dragon." He stopped to take a drink. "He's easily big enough to carry both of us..."

Emma felt her tea catch in her throat, accidentally needing to cough a few times before looking at Matthew, a bit wide eyed. "He has a dragon?" She asked, before trying to picture such a ting in her head, "And it's tame?"

She tried not to seem too excited, but was failing miserably, sounding almost giddy, "I would love to go on a trip like that."

"Oh, yes! There's an entire legion in Bern that rides dragons like his," Wil explained, happy to see how much Emma had perked up. "Bern is a region a bit to the east of where I was from. There's also a country called Ilia that has winged horses," he said, drawing out on the table, with a bit of his remaining coffee, a rough map of his home continent.

"If I remember correctly, it wouldn't be too hard to get back there," he pondered aloud. "It all rides on if we... well, have a ride."
