"Lilewam gonna be the bestest playground player evers!" Lileram was beaming, smiling brightly as she ran ahead of her father. "Lilewam be the bestest, and everyone will cheer, and- is Daddy listening t'Lilewam?" The little spawn sighed; Daddy always seemed to zone out when she was talking about the most important things....her, herself, and did we mention her?
"Hmph...." the orc mumbled in his gravelly tone. "Don't think there is a "bestest" when it comes to playgrounds." He'd learned in the first week that it was best just to nod and act like he was listening, but sadly, Lera seemed to have started catching on to what he was doing.
"Okay then." Lera said, pausing a moment before giggling. "Then Lilewam be bestest AND first. Cause Lilewam is just that awesome. Isn't Daddy happy t'have datter as awesome as Lilewam?" The little girl beamed up at her father before running out into the playground; there were so many things to do!
Akheper sighed and sat on a bench. Today was going to be a long, LONG day. He could already tell.

Sadly, Lera wasn't the first at the playground. Hanging upsidedown from the monkey bars was an older kid with tan skin and short green hair. He was thin and at first one might think he was hanging from his legs, till they noticed that his pants weren't baggy and that was his legs crossed in front of him - a long tan tail holding him up instead.
The preteen hadn't been hanging there long - maybe a minute tops to see if he could - and while the blood was rushing to his head, he did manage to hear the sound of someone approaching over the ringing in his ears and hopped down to see who it was.

Lera made her way towards the bigger person, curious. That was so cool! She bet she could hang from her tail, too, if she tried. But, she could try that later. Right now, interesting new person had her attention. "Lilewam likes your hair. Is green, like peeps. Do you like peeps? Lilewam likes peeps; they's nummy." she chattered, smiling. "Lilewam's name is Lilewam. What's boy's name? Is it pretty name? Why here? Where parents? Oooh, look, a flower!" The little spawn kneeled down, plucking a dandelion before looking back up to the boy.
Akheper sighed in relief, so glad the child had found someone else to talk at. He pulled a book out of his bag, intending to make the most of this rare quiet time.

Shy blinked as he was very suddenly assaulted with questions. "Hang on." he mumbled, shaking his head a bit and hitting the side of his head with a palm to stop the ringing in his ears. Somewhere in that he caught something about peeps, Lilewams, and questions about his name and where his parents were.
"Um........yeah, peeps are cool? I guess? My Dad likes them." he mumbled before flicking his tail a bit, "Niceta meet you. I'm Shy." he mumbled, closing his eyes a few times to make them stop crossing.
"My parents? They're out right now. I went for a walk. Why?"

Lileram grinned; she already knew it was a wonderful occurance to meet her, but she liked hearing it all the same. "Lilewam likes you name. Shy sound like sky, and the sky's pretty like Lilewam." The tiny child giggled, tail wagging. "Lilewam just curious, Shy-Sky. Whatcha doing? Here, have dandelion! Do you like dandelions? Lilewam likes dandelions cause they pretty flowers, but Daddy says their weeds. Silly Daddy. Daddy sitting over there, reading papers. Do you read papers? Lilewam read papers when she gets big. Lilewam be best paper reader evers!" The little chatterbox held the dandelion out to him, grinning from ear to ear.

The bombardment of questions was almost painful as the boy leaned back against the pole off the jungle gym and took the flower. "Oh...thanks. Yeah dandelions are okay. They're pretty anyway."
After a minute he got back to the regular questions, "Oh I was just playing around, going to go on the swings next. You?"
Papers? Like the newspaper or books? The preteen glanced over at the child's father for an answer and shrugged. "Yeah sometimes." he said, noticing the book the man had.

"Lilewam just got here. Lilewam gonna be bestest player evers! And first bestest, too." she stated proudly, jabbing at her chest with her thumb for emphasis. "What are swings? Are they fun? Lilewam likes fun? Does Shy-Sky too?" Either she didn't realize how annoying she was, or she didn't care. "What kind of papers does Shy-Sky read? Daddy reads boring ones without pictures. They not pretty." She shook her head, rolling her eyes. Daddies made no sense sometimes.
"Shy-Sky has pretty tail. Almost pretty as Lilewam's." she said, nodding once. To the little girl, that was a compliment, almost being as pretty as her. Of course, no one in all of Gaia was as pretty as her, but some came close.

Shy groaned a bit, standing up and just gesturing for her to follow him to the swings. "These are swings. You sit on them and kick your legs to move back and forth and try to get higher off the ground." the teen told her, sitting down on one of them and demonstrating.
He decided not to comment on his books or whether or not he liked fun - that would probably just give him a headache. By now, however, he was starting to realize why he'd had a nagging feeling he knew her - she was a pride spawn. He and his best friend were both spawn from the pride demon Enki at Seven of Seven and this little girl had the features and self-centered personality to show she was his too. But unlike Enki, who had been vaguely tolerable, she was wearing on the preteen's usually very patient nerves.
"Mm. You're a pride spawn, aren't you?'

Lileram watched a moment, smiling before scrambling over to climb up on the swing. "Why Shy-Sky groan? Did he get hurt? Daddy groans like that when he has head-hurting. Does Shy-Sky have head hurting?" She seemed genuinely worried about her new peep-haired friend. She tried swinging, but only managed to rock back and forth a bit. But, that seemed to be enough to keep her happy.
The toddler nodded enthusiastically, smiling. "Lilewam is bestest datta of Pride and Ab-stinney-ence." she declared, grinning. "How did you know?" she asked, wide-eyed and curious.

"Yeah, hon, you're kinda talkin a bit fast for me." he said, rubbing his head a bit and standing up. "Hold onto the swing, I'll push you." he told her, pulling the swing back and letting her fly, slowly pushing her as she came back like he did his siblings.
"I know because I'm a pride spawn too - Pride and Liberality."

Lera nodded once, seeming to understand. "Oh. Okies. Lilewam is sorry, Shy-Sky." she said, nodding. She helf on, giggling as she seemed to fly through the air. This was amazing! She'd have to tell Daddy later about it, since, yet again, he wasn't paying attention.
"Ooooh..." She said, interested. "That makes Shy-Sky a brudder!" She grinned from ear to ear, giggly. Yay! She had a big brother! So that's why he was so awesome, like her!

"Yeah, I guess you could say that." he told her, pushing her idly and thinking it over. He really was her brother in a way wasn't he? That word always made him feel a little more obligated and protective of others - brother. He had two little siblings at home - an infant by the name of Maion, and a child by the name of Nero. They were very close to him, looked up to him, and he really couldn't blame them. Being a brother meant a lot to Shy and calling him her brother endeared Lileram to him, despite her faults.
"It's okay kiddo." he told her with a smile, pushing again, "Kick your legs out when you go up this time and pull them back when you come down again, okay?'

"Okies!" Lilieram chirped, grining as she kicked her legs out into the air. These swing things were fun! If the swings alone were this entertaining, she couldn't wait to check out the other stuff the park had to offer!
Akheper stood, closing his book on the chapter he'd just finished. As nice as the break had been, there was still grocery shopping, yard work, and house cleaning to do. "Lileram!" he called out to the playground, his gravelly voice reverberating through the park.
And Lileram, like most toddlers, seemed to have developed selective hearing, completely ignoring her father. She wasn't done playing yet. "Does Shy-Sky like swings too?" she asked, looking back at him with a grin. Yep, TOTALLY ignoring Dad. "Lilewam like em! 'S like flying! How high does Shy-Sky get when he swings? I bet it's WEALLY high!"

"Eh, I can go okay on swings. You should probably go with your Dad though." he said, reaching out to carefully catch the swing she was on. "He might be happy with you if you behave." the older boy said with a wink.

Lileram sighed; she wanted to stay and play! "Okies. Shy-Sky play with Lilewam 'gin?" she asked as she hopped off her swing, hooves landing not-so-daintily in the wood chips. She offered her biggest smile, hoping she'd get the answer she wanted.
