Mmkay, by know, we all know the-birds-and-the-bees. But I don't mean how just you got here...How did we all come into being?
Recently, a court decided that Intelligent Design, or the belief that an "unnamed/unidentified intelligent cause" is responsible for the creation of life on Earth, cannot be taught in a certain PA public school district.
So far, I know what ID is, and Creationism (aka the "God Theory," as described in the Book of Genesis) and Charles Darwin's Evolution (through natural selection) theory.
Some say that ID is just the God theory in disguise...
What do you think? EDIT: Topic in the GD forum also.

[I'm not sure what to really conclude even though I know about all these different theories... I kind of like to believe in Intelligent Design, because it seems to be the closest to what I've believed for a long time: Since I was much younger, I liked to believe that God, (or some higher "cause"), really did create all life, but that Evolution was also created.
An all-knowing "cause" such as God is described to be should "know" that any being created in [His] own particular image is going to have questions.
What if, instead of it happening like in the Book of Genesis, God created organisms, first single-celled, then multi-celled, and those organisms then evolved over the millenia into what we have today?? eek
Yes...since my early years, I have always thought a lot. sweatdrop ]

I definitely think that 'Intelligent Design' is Creationism under a new name. Most of the scientists who believe in it are devout Christians (I won't say all, but a vast majority). Coincidence? I don't think so.

[The believers of ID may be mostly devote Christians, but they may not be. Afterall, the definition doesn't say "God" specifically, but "an unidentified intelligent cause." 3nodding That could be aliens for all we know, right? xd But sure, most people probably think of God when ID is brought up.
Then again, I thought most Christian scientists didn't take the Bible literally anyway?
Maybe Intelligent Design is the scientific response to the God theory...]

then again, i'm very biased. i am in the midst of a spiritual crisis, i suppose, and i find myself questioning everything. i like when things are explained to me, and the while ID idea doesn't explain much. it just says, "well, we don't know, so we'll 'blame' it on a being/entity that may or may not exist, and hope you buy it"

God created everything.
Things evolved into bigger/smaller animals.
And here we are. At least, that's the way I see things.

My personal belief is that a deity created evolution. That deity is everything in creation. It is everything that ever was, is, and shall be. I believe that we are, in fact, very much a part of that deity, the same way that your left hand is a part of you. We are not "seperate" from that deity. I believe that our human souls--which is our true selves--played a part in creating earth. I feel that before we came here, we helped "design" it as it was to be our school room.
Evolution is a part of that design, because evolution is how things in the universe grow. Growth and change is a part of existence and the infinite universe. The same way that we grow and change through out our lives, so does everthing else in the universe grow and change through out its life--including the earth. I feel that the earth is an ever growing and changing being that has allowed us to use it as our school room and home while we are in the flesh. The reality of eternal growth and change is fundemental to the nature of the One.
In essence, I feel that evolution is a result of the divine nature of the universe.
Now. I will say that this guild is the only place on Gaia that I've ever said that, because it is the only place I feel comfortable with saying that.

biggrin I very much like the part about we being part of the diety, and the comparison with the hand. 3nodding That is very interesting. I've never considered it that way.
EDIT: PS- I'm happy you felt comfortable with sharing that with us. whee ]

Revolutionary01 I am starting to beleive that everytherory is the same. when you really think about it everthing matches up. [A lot of scientists who believe in evolution, denounce the belief in a deity as the creator of all things. Likewise, there are some who only believe in what is in Genesis and denounce the theory of evolution (don't know why that would be, but, mrgh). So, I don't think everything matches up. That's why there's so much controversy surrounding the origin of life. 3nodding ]
