Mine, can you not move faster? Oh, hurry, hurry!

"...." N'tin could only watch in half-amusement as the Green nearly danced (as much as dragons could) towards the lakeshore, bounding into the gentle waves without a second thought. Her energy level brought to mind days past, thoughts of the dragonet she was only a short time ago, who brimmed with enthusiasm at any new trick to show off or a new place to explore with Hers. The fact that she would react to bathing in a similar way surprised him, and pleased him deep down (although he wouldn't admit it). Her enthusiasm was contagious, and the beautiful warm weather added to his quiet pleasure. He unlooped the bag from around his shoulders and set it down on the soft grass.

If Saerath had had her way, they would be at the ocean shore, where she had originally proposed. Despite the fact that the dragon would complain for hours and wheedle N'tin into scratching her to ease the itch of the salt water, she never stopped suggesting it. Perhaps she was simple when it came to some things, but he knew his dragon better than that; she was in it for the hide scratchings.

Miiiiine, stop wasting time! An impatient splash met N'tin face first, and the frown spread from ear to ear as Saerath innocently swished her tail along the water surface, as though teasing him. Right then the boots were kicked off and he was tumbling in after her, struggling a little more against the water than she had, before both of the young man's hands landed with a thump on her side. The half-smile that he somehow managed on occasion crossed his features, and the callused hand reached into the water to send it back into Saerath's face.

It was moments like this that N'tin missed his family. Not the same kind of sharpness he felt in his earlier Candidate days but just a gentle reminder that rose from play time with Saerath, or seeing the fresh new faces who hoped to become Riders someday. Time changes things and he couldn't see them as often as he liked.

"I wonder what they're all up to?"

"N'tiiiiiiiiiinnnnn!"

The call probably could have because with that of a screeching bird overhead, the tone shrill and carrying on the wind the way a bird call would have, but the fact it said a name instead of random whatever indicated it was indeed from a small human. Two shrill cries from firelizards followed the call as it was repeated, and soon a figure came bounding into view with arms flailing over her head.

Tiepet had carefully sneaked away from her chores for that day the moment she'd seen a familiar green fly overhead in the direction of the lake. Such a pretty dragon could only mean a very familiar family member, and the Herder could hardly keep herself contained as she dashed off see her cousin. How long had it been since Tie had last gotten to play with N'tin? Too long probably, since she could hardly remember. Before the hatching? No no, not that long ago. They certainly couldn't play while N'tin's dragon was still growing, but now that she was fully mature surely Tie's cousin had free time for her.

"N'ttiiin!!!"

The poor rider probably didn't have time to react as the smaller girl smashed into him, somehow her movements not slowed as she'd entered the water (huzzah for determination or a very good jump!). Arms were wrapped around his waist tightly, and a face was buried into his chest.

"N'tin!"

N'tin's attention had drifted up to the sky as he mused on his family. Another splash from his dragon nudged him back to the task at hand - yes, it was bath time. There was an order to things before he could fully enjoy himself, and Saerath turned obligingly towards him and extended her neck. Callused hands splashed water on her scales and rubbed, and the dragon hummed at the attention. But her ears picked up something fast approaching, and her head snapped to attention. Some girl was running towards them.. probably nothing to worry about.

Except that she wasn't stopping. She headed right towards them, no.. right for Hers. But before she could address it, he was nearly toppled sideways by the force of the wayward girl. The surprised stagger he made at first was amusing to the Green, until his knotted eyebrows and fierce expression turned towards the girl in question and recognition dawned on his face.

"Tie-!" The name didn't come out fully, but the note of surprise registered well enough in his voice. Both hands moved from Saerath's neck to reach under his beloved cousin's arms and hoist her up (a habit from youth that never really left him). She was still light in his arms. "Where did you come from?" It was obvious, even from his simple words, how pleased he was to see her. His arms lowered and set her down to stand on her own, as his eyes gave her the once over. It seemed like ages since he had last seen her, and in the meantime she had started to blossom into a young woman, already growing like a weed. This was likely a trick of the mind, due to how busy life had been and Saerath's constant presence in day-to-day activities, but he didn't mind. It was a nice surprise, leave it at that.

However, Saerath watched the interaction somewhat distantly, curiously. So this was the little slip of a cousin Hers spoke about on occasion. The pleasure radiating from him, despite outward appearances, was apparent enough, and she was happy for him..

.. But did this runt have to interrupt time with Hers? Right this minute?

Mine. Immediately she was next to her rider, head hovering close to his side and slowly nudging between them. Who might this be? The small cousin you have mentioned before? Genial enough, but her haughty eyes said otherwise.

"I knew it was you, it had to be. I knew your dragon first, then Skybox and Caine told me. They always seem to know."

Tie buried her face against N'tin's chest again, so happy to see her favorite cousin. He hadn't been around for so long since he Impressed at that hatching, actually one of the very first that Tie had stood for. It made her somewhat lonely to not be able to be with her childhood playmate but thankfully Tie wasn't so petty or selfish enough to blame the dragon for her lack of interaction; She knew and respected the large beast all too well. Perhaps one day there would be a chance that she would have a dragon of her own and then she too would have to give up so many things to pursue that lifestyle.

Caine hissed his disapproval, clearly incensed that Tie might stop caring for him. Skybox seemed to understand more of what her girl meant and she crooned to the little black, reassuring him.

"So introduce your dragon to me! Tell me about everything! I've missed you so much, we really need to talk now."

Funny how she was normally so quiet to be this loud. N'tin was probably the only person she was closest to ever since her early childhood, so he had the honor of seeing sides of her never shown to anyone else - all her restraint seemed to vanish when he was near.

"Did you see my flitters? I only had Skyboxbefore you Impressed, but now I have Caine. He was a prize for finishing my chores first out of the other Candidates. I hated those chores so much."

Tie nodded, agreeing with herself over something. she was just so happy to be with N'tin!
