The pack was beginning to flourish once more, it seemed that with each new sun rise another would come to the pack, be it old or new blood. It was keeping Penthesilea busy, which was always a good thing, as well as her beta's. There were ranks to be sorted out with some of the new members, training to begin, hunts to be done and all the while still continue the search for even more.
Today was one such day that Penthesilea opted to spend searching the forest instead of overseeing new recruit in their training. She trust Thealia to that job today knowing the wolf loved to shape up the new and old warriors. Padding through the forest Penthesilea was looking forward to the break in her routine, though she did somewhat miss having all those duties piled upon her each morning. Just what was in store for today was anyone's guess.

When one really spent time thinking about it, really thinking about it, wolves could be the ultimate killing machines if they could climb trees. Squirrels, birds... sure, they were small but they were enough for a slight meal when the stomach pangs grew too great. And Zeke's stomach pangs were beyond great and bordering on all-consuming. There was a small, oh-so plump squirrel that seemed to be mocking Zeke from the loftier branches of the old tree he stood before. Zeke knew it was mocking him, because he'd just chased that same wily squirrel from the underbrush into the security of the tree. Zeke couldn't climb trees. Zeke was a great hunter, but to showcase such immaculate hunting skills one needed a pack to hunt with, and currently Zeke was rather pack-less. Tongue lolling out, the male sat back on his haunches and pondered his current predicament, fairly oblivious to anything occurring around him.

The white and yellow wolf was easy to spot among the greens and browns of the forest around him. Turning Penthesilea padded towards the male as he seemed to be looking up at the tree at something that wasn't in her line of view yet. Stopping not far from the male she watched him for a few moments, he seemed quite oblivious to her presence and was staring at a squirrel - how odd.
"It won't come down if you stare at it." She announced to the wolf letting him know that she stood not far away from him. Why a wolf would be staring up at a squirrel was beyond Penthesilea. Sure she had heard about wolves bonded with those creatures, but he way this male was staring at the small creature made her think that wasn't the case this time. No this male was trying to make a meal out of the squirrel.

If looks could kill, that squirrel would be dead a thousand times over. Maybe even a thousand and one times, it was hard to say. The approach of the second wolf went unnoticed until she spoke.
Zeke wasn't usually easily startled; in fact it often took a force of nature itself to shake him. Such was the case here. With a final growl at the lofty squirrel Zeke stood and turned to face the newcomer.
Respectfully he bowed his head, ears perked forth attentively. "I was just thinking about flying." The statement wasn't bright or meant to be even poetic; it was simply Zeke. "I'm hungry, you see." Raising his head, his ears flicked forward towards the female.

A slight smiled crossed her maw at the males words. He was thinking about flying, what an odd thing to have ones mind on. “If you are hungry then surely you should look for easier prey to acquire than a squirrel who knows that being in a tree guarantees it’s safety.” Her eye’s inspected the male carefully. He looked decently built, good muscle tone overall, though his fur made him stand out quite a bit within the forest. Penthesilea couldn’t help but think that for all the good physical attributes this male had, he seemed to lack something upstairs. After all how many wolves stare that intently at a squirrel and think about flying.

Lazily a pink tongue rasped out against his nose as Zeke straightened. "The squirrel seemed easy enough," his head cocked to the side, "until he moved." One golden ear swiveled around and then swiftly snapped back forward. Zeke blinked a few times, seemingly lost in his own thoughts for a moment before his tail wagged appreciatively. "I'm Zeke," he said slowly, "What's your name?" He looked behind her hopefully, "And do you have friends? Maybe we can share a meal?"

"Things are not always as they seem." She commented. Sure something could seem easy enough upon initial sight, but then further inspection of the situation could prove it to be much more challenging. "I am Penthesliea, Queen of Antianeira. The pack lies not far from here - though we are very different from others." She paused for a moment at his next question. Penthesilea had friends yes, but to her the term friend was not used as often. Those within her pack were certainly considered her friends, though she always referred to them as her sisters. "My packs sisters are my friends. As for sharing a meal - that is a bit more complicated, as I said my pack is a bit different than others."

Zeke had been told many times before that he was 'different' -- he couldn't say with much certainty exactly what was meant by that word, but he didn't mind being different, really. Now, he'd never met a Queen before, and after those words were spoken he looked kind of confused for a moment before clumsily dropping into something that might've been a bow had it been properly executed.
"A pleasure to meet you, Queen Penthesliea," he mumbled awkwardly, ears pinned back in submission. "I've never met a Queen before," he added, hoping that excused any mishaps on his part.

A slightly amused smirk danced across Penthesilea's lips as Zeke bowed down before her. It was always good to see males bow down to her, and a sudden idea struck her. Her pack was newly reformed but was certainly lacking in slaves, perhaps Zeke could play this role. She could likely easily convince him as he seemed to not be fully aware of things around him.
"Tell me Zeke do you live in a pack?" She asked idly, even if he was already part of a pack it didn't mean she couldn't steal him away for her own. Like it or not the Sisters needed slaves to keep the pack lands clean and allow them to devote their entire lives to training and maintaining the ways of Antianeira.

Zeke shook his head, though he looked excited by the prospect of being in a pack. A pack meant food, shelter and companionship, at least in Zeke's mind. "I do not have a pack, my Queen." His tail gave a happy little wag. He hoped that he was right in guessing what would come next -- perhaps she would offer him a home amongst the wolves in her pack? Then again, maybe she would just charge at him snapping her teeth. That had happened to him once before and he'd barely gotten away intact.
That thought made him step back just a little without thought of how it might look to Penthesliea. He wasn't trying to be disrespectful, he was showing a little self-preservation.

So he had no pack to call his own. That was fine, she might have offered to give him a place in her pack regardless. "Well, allow me to make you an offer then. My pack could use a few more members to bolster it's numbers. However, should you choose to join you will be in service to the Sisters, you do what they and I ask of you and in return we provide you with protection, a place to sleep and food to eat." She paused to allow that information to sink in. Penthesilea was willing to be as vague about the details of his actual service as she could just because they were in great need of more slaves. Plus if it came down to it she could always just drag him back to the pack against his will. "So, will you join us?"

Zeke dipped his head. He'd never been a wolf of high-ranking, perfectly content to follow given orders. He was not an ambitious wolf, in all honesty, and would much prefer to be the low man on the totem pole -- so to speak. As long as he felt relatively safe and protected, had a full belly and a place to sleep, well, Zeke was not one to complain.
"I will, my Queen, and you honor me with your offer." His tail wagged just the slightest.

Penthesilea stood silently for several minutes after he had given his answer. They would see if he remained this enthusiastic after a few weeks of service, especially with wolves like Varia to harass his every move, to make sure he suffered each hour that he remained there. "Very well then." She said with a slight nod of her head. "Come with me, your new life awaits you." Turning the Queen padded off, leading him back towards Antianeira and his life of servitude.
