Name: Arthur

Nicknames: Any pet name is fine by him. He only ask that you do not call him Arty, as this was the nickname given to him by Eleanor. He much prefers that you give him a sweet name like 'darling' or 'angel cakes', but anything will do. Just know that since you are free to give him a pet name, he will most certainly have fun giving you one (even if you do not ask for it). Isn't that right, honey cakes? Rose bud? How about Fluffykins?

Breed: Turkish Angora

Alignment: Senshi

Gemstone: Chrysoberyl - Alexandrite Variety

Favorite Food: Coffee in most any shape or form other than black. If he can get it, he likes it with soy milk and sweetener. (He swears he's lactose intolerant.) The taste reminds him of home, where he and Eleanor would go through a pot together. Just like some people feel warm and cozy with chocolate chip cookies like mom use to make, this is Arthur with his cup of Joe.

Hated Food: Popcorn. (Anything that can get stuck in your teeth or the back of your throat.) Jello with fruit in it. (That's just wrong.) Tea. Biscotti. He hates that coffee shops sell these. Just when he thinks it's a nice, soft piece of bread or muffin, he bites into it and feels as if he's going to chip a tooth!

Hobbies:

The Tube: One of Arthur happiest memories was watching 'The Soaps' with Eleanor. Watching love triangles expand to octagons, surprising blood tests revealing long lost relatives, and supernatural phenomenons have kept him at the edge of Eleanor's bed for many hours of his life. Due to recent duties and undecided living quarters, he is often found in front of television outlets to watch his shows or sneaking into senshis' homes to watch in private. He's recently come to enjoy Reality TV and Dramas as well, happy that, unlike his soaps, they provide reruns which give him plenty of opportunities to keep updated with his shows. Don't even try convincing him these people are actors. They are REAL people. He's invested time in watching them, feeling for them, and he knows that that is not fake. If he saw him on the street, he would probably claw out Stefano's eyes out for all the evil things he has done.

Visiting the Nursing Home: Spending some time with Eleanor has given him a great appreciation for the elderly. He loves them, and he likes the way they reminisce of the past, something that touches a soft spot he shares with them. Not only that, but he gets plenty of attention, and feels valued when he can perk up some of the bedridden that are unable to go out or have nothing else to bring a little spark in their day. While Arthur loves his scouts, he often feels more connected to the older generation. There are just some things that he can't relate with them, and in these moments, he will distance himself and sneak into the nursing home to a place he feels he will be better understood.

Inventing a new ailment: If there was on thing that he heard often when in the nursing home, it was talk about medication and what was being broken or sore. It became like a competition, and Arthur has adopted it despite not being old. He'll complain about a dislocated hip, unusual headache, his sinuses, or that pesky war wound that makes walking hard on rainy days. It works really well when he wants to get out of doing something or feels like he needs a little attention.

Fixer Upper: Since Eleanor had no one around the house, Arthur would try to fix things when he could. If he could manage something with his paws or teeth, he'd try and fidangle something into working order, usually trying to figure something out and putting it back before his friend would notice. He had to read a lot of user manuals and managed to get the TV, the fax machine, and even a few appliances in up and running on several occasions. That doesn't mean he sometimes managed to make it even worse. (The toaster never did make that whining noise before popping out the toast before he messed with it.) For this reason, he likes figuring how things work but has only been exposed to older appliances and gadgets thus far. Eleanor had a poor opinion on the new fangled tech-ma-jigs.

Virtues:

All Up Here: Be it dates, names, or who said what during a fight a week ago, Arthur is the man to beat when it comes to memory. A quick encounter between friends and he'll remember who was there, what you smelled like (You had cookies, didn't you?), and ask you if that exam you were studying for went well. If he lives in a household long enough, he'll point out your mother's birthday is coming up and she did mention that she would like new slippers since she complained once about the other pair getting loose. While he often uses this to remember seasons upon seasons of different TV shows, he will accumulate what he has heard and learned from others and keep a record stored in his head. If you're foggy on some details, ask him. He probably can tell you what was said even through a splash of impersonation for some flavor.

Since he has only lived a little more over a year, it still seems he can retain a lot. However, remembering what someone wore or how exactly they said something will often fade through the months as he absorbs new information. He'll keep the vital parts of it, or what he thinks was the most important parts, and scrap the rest. (These vital parts are usually really memorable 'lines' said by the other person. He's big for what is said, but don't think he won't remember someone holding hands or kissing!) Sure, he might not remember that you wore that purple windbreaker your mother gave you from half a year ago, but he will remember that you did admit you hated your brother for upstaging you in nearly the same words. His memory is usually the best if it's happened around two or three months. After that, you get the the bare bones (with a little meat) summary. That is unless if you did something big. BIG moments like someone admitting their love or breaking apart will usually be what his mind sets to record and keeps. These are the big tear-jerker moments in drama.

Supportive: Unlike Astraea, Arthur doesn't believe that yelling obscenities is going to motivate anyone. Not wanting his little sweethearts to be afraid to come to the people that are suppose to be guiding them as senshi, he tries his best to perk them up after a hard day. You killed a youma? Great job! Beat up a Negaverser? Lets get icecream! Seeing civilians having their starseeds ripped out and missing out on that slumber party to go on patrol chips away at your spirit, and all these kids are young, mostly new, and very inexperienced. While he knows they have an important duty, he's aware that they won't be any good if they can't keep their head above the sea of despair. It's hard on these kids, and he knows it, and while he can't let them be normal kids, he tries his best to let them live out their youth as best as he can. Even when they fail, he wants to be there to at the hospital to sit on their lap and tell them that they tried, and that's all that anyone ever asks.

He will not, however, support "bad" behavior or something that could harm someone or the mission. This can often conflict with his desire for a person's happiness and the desire for everyone to work as a team and his responsibility as a guardian to get them all to take their senshi duties seriously. He'll try and juggle as much as he can to get everyone happy. If he can't, he usually blames himself.

What's best: Some tension and drama is fun, but he knows when things go too far and can become dangerously close to causing serious damage that can't be fixed up. When what he deems is necessary drama changes to bad news that needs to be fixed, he'll jump in to help keep everyone together. Arthur doesn't want it to come at the cost of ripping everyone apart. Fussing around and causing trouble is one thing, but when it comes at the risk of the entire group ripping apart at the seams or for a entire friendship to dissolve, he'll rush in as best he can to try and patch it up, be it a small little fix or trying to hold back the entire dam from breaking. Friends and family are suppose to stick together like glue, through thick and thin, and that everyone should be there to rely on each other. Arthur has seen the druggie get worse or the depressed girl overdose in way too many shows, and he wants to make sure that his kids have people to step in and help, even if it's just him. Friends and family have been preached on tv to be what everyone needs. Letting it all fall apart, having their 'season' end, is not something he wants to see. Let's keep the entire cast here!

If he can't fix things, he'll plea to others to help him out. Work the network of friends and see if they can offer any advice. If they tell him to stay out of it, he'll usually worry on his own, tucking his tail in and worrying the entire time till something resolves itself. While he can't make a horse drink when you lead it to water, he will try his hardest to shove it's head in or beg on his knees to at least take a sip. Just a taste, to see if you like it. That's all I'm asking.

Flaws:...besides shedding.

Drama King: My paw isn't bruised! It's broken. Carry me! What if I die? What if they have to amputate it off! What will I do with only three limbs? Who will take care of me? Oh, it was just a thorn! I hope it doesn't get infected. Does it look funny to you?

When it suits him, a molehill can be made into a mountain the size of Mt. Everest. Give him the attention, the reminder that you care, and don't give him that look, this is serious. Learning from the best, Arthur saw the elderly try and one up each other for their ailments and he found out that this was a great way to get people to pay attention. Just because he's supportive doesn't mean he doesn't like to be fussed over. If he doesn't get the attention he wants, he'll wind up pouting and throwing a emo fit that no one loves him, again, to get attention. A lot of frowning, muttering responses, and big, over-the-top sighing is what is bound to happen if you don't at least come over and try to make it up to him. It's usually better to bite the bullet and entertain his acting from the start, but if you manage to hold out, he'll eventually pull himself out of his little show and return, waiting the next chance to do it all over again. That is, unless, he knows you won't bat an eye at him no matter what he does. Then he'll just find someone who will.

Lily Livered: Very aware of the limitations of a cat, Arthur isn't going to fool himself that he can take on a human being or even a youma. He wants to be there for his team, which means showing it by actually being there on the battlefront. He will not, however, be next to them thinking he can get in a good bite. More than likely, he will find a safe place that he can't be reached or attacked, since he does not want to become the victim that jeopardizes his team, and will try and help by giving direction and shouting his support. If cheerleading works for athletes to win against tough opponents, why not in this case?

If it came right down too it, where it was a matter of life or death for him to jump in, he would, but he would be terrified out of his mind as he did it. If the enemy is too great, too strong, and is throttling his team, he will tell them all to retreat in order to save themselves. Youma and Negaversers scare him, and he'll dig his claws into someone's shoulder before finding a spot to watch. While he doesn't want to be the one to be called on as a last resort, as he would be a sad last weapon, he would use himself as their last weapon using whatever he can, be it cat beam or biting.

For the most part, he would rather not be in the battle at all, and if the senshi tell him to stay home, he gladly will. The idea of being the last resort to rely on scares him, and he would feel horrid if he was lost at the cost of someone's life. Instead, he wants them to be in tight groups together and never have to rely on someone as poor at fighting, shaking in his fur, to be the one to actually fight off evil. Instead, he'll rather be waiting by the phone and hoping no one gets severally hurt.

At home, he still freaks out over car alarms, the printer, and the neighbor's dog. Bigger cats also worry him, as a few have gotten into fights with him before. (Arthur hasn't claimed any wins.) This is why it's nice to stick with someone so that they can have his back. The senshi are powerful and brave, and he'd rather they protect him than having to be put in that position.

Papa Bear: Due to his own experiences with death and lingering abandonment issues, Arthur wants to see that everyone is safe and protected. This often means he doesn't even want someone to fight the biggest baddie out there, and that that boy you like is just not good for you. This often gives the impression that he doesn't place too much faith in a person's decisions or their ability to handle themselves, but he'd rather they were angry at him for a while than to think of them dead in a ditch somewhere. Television has taught him what is best and what can go wrong, while real life living with older people have taught him a lot more regarding regrets and the wrong and right choices. Because of this, he feels he's better prepared to make the call on what is best. Aware of the fragility of life, he'll shout for the team to retreat, even if they think they can push themselves and win, and he'll tell someone to stay home to rest rather than strain themselves with another late-night patrol.

As far as the mission is concerned, he does want them to become stronger and to win to save other people that are sure to have families, too. He just doesn't want his direct family harmed and to suffer losses, and will show his thin backbone during debates at group meet-ups. If any harm does happen, he will accuse everyone of their recklessness.

Additional Note:
Hard of Hearing: Due to a terrible fever that nearly killed him, Arthur has lost the hearing in his right ear. While he'll deny this, Arthur knows he's missing out on a lot of juicy details in conversation, which is why he often crawls up on shoulders to hear better. He'll turn his head more often than not during a talk, and PLEASE don't try and whisper to him or else it's also guaranteed he's going to be walking away having no idea what important information you just gave out - not that he'll admit that either. If he doesn't hear it, you better believe he's going to just assume you said something else, and like the old saying goes, he'll make an a** of himself in the process.

Challenge:

Human Appearance:

Visual Age: Twenties. Not to young, not too old.
Hair: Not short, but the length can be up to Natsube along with style. Pretty-boyish, but maybe a bit messy to make him look more like he just came out of the back of the shop and hadn't noticed he needed to check a mirror first.
Eyes: Same as his cat form.
Face: His expression should look worried or nervous, but sweet.
Body: Very tall and lank. Beanpole.
Fashion: Glass similar to his cat form, with earrings and maybe some rings in human form. Nothing like huge gems that could be considered gaudy, but simple rings. The rest is up to Natsube. I'm thinking something modest, bookish, scholarly.

Since technology could be used by Mau agents, I was thinking if it was possible to get a body suit with a overlaying, open jacket. Just something high tech in general, space-ish, and yet sexy and refined. I haven't seen that on a Kitty yet and I think that tying something back to Mau technology would be fun.

Cat Appearance:

Face/Ears:Up to Natsube on the ears (Turned down or up right) and face. Maybe a nick on his ears from a cat fight.
Body: A slender white cat with a bit of fluff. Elegant. [x] [x] [x]
Fur: Pure White, sleek, with a bit of fluff to it. Since he's lank as a person, I want him to be slender as a cat.
Eyes: Either bright blue or purple.
Accessories: Glasses with a chain coming down one side to clip on his collar. A house key is attached to his collar. I'm thinking a older looking key, but the design is up to Natsube. He wears earrings that dangle (can be stars or whatever else depending on the theme. Go wild.)

"Hey! Hey! This is the best part. Janice is about to tell Martin that she's secretly under the employment as a spy for his brother, who is actually still alive as Mr. Habidash! I wonder if he'll still marry her!"

These are the days of our lives - Current Life:

((Sort summary for now: Arthur was a stray that, near death, was picked up by Eleanor and lived with her and kept her company at her little shop. (That cat in the window you see when walking by? That's him.) That was until Eleanor had a stroke, and the shop closed. Upon her family's suggestion on how to best handle the situation, they sent her to a nursing home where she could get the care and attention she needed. He stayed with her for a few months, the both of them trying to pick up on the lifestyle that was now altered and meeting the new people at the home. Slowly, the quiet comfort they once had returned and for a while, it lasted. Then Eleanor's health failed and she passed on. Left alone and depressed, Arthur was back to being a stray.

The house key he wears on his collar belongs to the shop they both had together.))

Thank you.

Why hello there MK! First of all, let me say Arthur is a faaabulous name. I love it. (Incidentally, that is the name of one of my own quests. Since you had it first, do you mind if I leave him named Arthur until one quest or another is obtained?) Let me also say that the art is completely and totally adorable. <3

ANYWAYS back to business. I love the little blurb you left by nicknames, it really gives us a good little taste of his personality! I think that’s so adorable (and what a good way to keep himself from getting cutesy nicknames, hehe).

Out of curiosity, is he aligned with any particular senshi? Or do you intend to just find someone when you get there?

So far, his virtues are looking really pretty solid! I’m curious, how far does his memory go back? Months, years? Will he remember if you told him off a decade ago? Some more food for thought, does his fabulous memory lend itself to holding grudges? Honestly, I love this virtue, I think it’s pretty unique and can be a lot of fun. These are just some more questions, but does he ever have selective memory? Does he ever leave anything out (especially if it feels it will dishearten his kids)?

I think supportive is adorable and there’s not much to be said there.

As far as being the fix-it man, I have a few more questions! What happens if Arthur can’t fix it? Sometimes people just don’t want their problems solved, and in RP, he may come across a situation where two characters just won’t let him help. Would he be offended if his assistance was declined? What if he accidentally made the situation worse? He seems like a very sweet guy who wants the best for everyone, so is he able to keep himself from choosing sides? I think that’s my only concern as far as this flaw goes, especially because, in general, everyone wants to be told they are right and I’m curious if his supportive virtue would incline him to tell both parties they’re correct and just dig a bigger hole. Most of this is just food for thought, as it were, because as it stands, it’s a very decent virtue. <3

Now, on to his flaws. Love the drama king bit! What does he do if he doesn’t get the attention he thinks he deserves? XD I’m curious to know what would happen, hehe.

Love that he’s a coward as well. I do find it a little curious that he’d go to the battle if a book causes him to hide under the bed, however. After all, with Nega agents and youma floating around, how close is too close? Does he become a back-seat driver if his kids look like they’re in trouble, or does he stick with simply the praise? On another note, saying he does go to battle, what would happen if he were to be confronted? I think that’s something you definitely want to address, because that could easily happen in RP. If, for whatever reason, his kids were disarmed or disabled and the baddies came after him, would he turn tail and run? Would he be long gone before that point? What would he do? (Just be careful and try not to negate the flaw, hehe, because so far, it’s a pretty damn good one.)

Finally, I don’t actually get short-tempered. Going along this profile, all his traits mesh well and form one cohesive character (I really felt like I could know this guy!) and then we come alone to this. Short-tempered was not something I’d ever expect of him. Perhaps it would help if you change it’s name, because it seems more like he’s an angry papa bear than actually short-tempered. (I’m also a little confused as to why he’d resort to yelling, especially when you note that he doesn’t believe in Astrea’s tactics.) He seems more defensive than offensive, if that helps. Only going off if provoked. How does he handle it if his protection isn’t appreciated? (Is he the dad with the shotgun waiting for his daughter’s date to bring her home?)

I’m curious, why is he so hard of hearing? I can see how it fits into his character, especially where it might amplify the skittish quality (and perhaps help him hear what he’d like to), but I was under the impression he isn’t actually all that old. How did this come to pass?

I’m glad you posted a little history snippet! <333 I love that, especially because I was wondering who on earth Eleanor was! I love to know a character’s motivations and see what developed them, it really helps put them together, in my opinion.

Now for the hobbies, because I like to reflect upon these after I’ve read through the personality. The first two are totally adorable and seem just like him. Boy, what a little gossiper! I love how he steps in if he feels a life is too boring thus far. XD Oh, goodness, the places that could end up. Out of curiosity, does he ever spread the information he gathers? You know, share the wealth a little? Also, love that he goes to the nursing home. I bet those old people coddle all over him, haha.

Now, the coffee thing is the only thing that gets me. You’ve tied everything else in to his history so well that I’m wondering where this fits in. You have it listed as his favorite food, but I’m wondering why? How did a cat even taste coffee in the first place? Did Eleanor get him into this? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this hobby (especially because it’s one that can get him into trouble!), I just don’t see the logic behind it.

Finally, inventing a new ailment suits him perfectly, I’ll reckon.

Overall? You have an amazing start and I find myself positively in love with this character. He’s adorable and endearing, and I feel like I might actually know this guy! For the most part, his flaws and virtues mesh into one nice little set, complementing each other. His hobbies reflect his personality, as does his little history blurb. I get a very solid picture of Arthur, and I feel like I know exactly who you’re introducing me to. Great job!

If there’s anything that didn’t seem clear or you want to ask me about, I’d be happy to explain my thought process. I hope this helps! Good luck!

First off, Thanks for the crit. Also, I do try. *Modest*

I did not know we had the same names. I say keep it. Best of luck who gets it first. I won't be heartbroken over it and can find a new name when/if we hit that bridge.

Arthur is not aligned with anyone. I think I'll leave this to chance. Since he is very social, I think he'd be more the type to say he was aligned and bonded to everyone, but he could eventually become attached to a specific group or person through time.

Also, for coffee (since I'm not going in order), Eleanor did give it to him. I'm basing this off of my friend's mother, who drinks a pot of coffee each day and my mother, who sometimes lets our cat drink her coffee. When working at the shop, she would make her a cup and him a saucer, and they would drink together. Eleanor really did think of Arthur as her best friend and talked to him often. She also set a place for him at the dinner table. Coffee is like homemade apple pie to him.
*Added to Profile

He is a gossiper, and he will repeat what someone has said to nudge them. So, she might or might not have said that you had the most gorgeous eyes. He feels that if he was told it, it's true, and that if causes some things to come out of the open, it's for the better. Repressing things gets boring.
* Added to Profile

If he can't fix it, he'll try anything to get things to work out. Usually this means trying to convince their friends to talk to them since they won't listen to him. If they tell him to buzz off and let them handle it, or just don't agree, he'll usually mope and worry and hope for the best. He knows he can't do much after that, as people (even guardians) are stubborn, but he will push as much as he can for just a little progress in what he deems is the right direction.
*Added to Profile

If Arthur does not get his attention by freaking out about something and going overboard, he will just switch to being overly depressive for show to get the attention. It's just Round Two for him, and he'll make it clear that he wants someone to come over and say "What's wrong?" if he didn't get anyone fussing over him the first time. If you can handle all of that, he'll eventually stop and come back. If you continue to show you won't play his game, he just finds someone else who will.
* Added to Profile

Added some more to Lily Livered to apply both to the battlefield and at home. I hope it's clearer.
* Added to Profile

His hearing loss was due to a high fever. This is the same fever that Eleanor found him in when she first found him on the streets.
* Added to Profile

I'll fix the short temper to Papa Bear Syndrome since he's more overly protective than short tempered. I can see now how it doesn't work.
- Will Fix

A minor thing; you've got 'angle cakes' instead of 'angel cakes' under nicknames. heart Otherwise, he's awesome. I'd love to leave more thorough crit, but I can't for the life of me think of anything that doesn't work here. Sounds like he'd be fun to play with!

Hobbies:

The Tube: I love this one!

Chatting it up: So does Arthur view the senshi as tv show characters and not as real people? He’s had interactions with humans in his life, through the shop and at the nursing home, so does he think the senshi are different from the normal people he would have seen daily? I’m sure there was a little drama with the patients and staff members at the nursing home, but definitely not the kind he seems to expect from the senshi. You mention in the next hobby that he feels more connected to the older generation, so is there a disconnect between him and the younger one?

Visiting the Nursing Home: I definitely like this one, but I have one question. Does he have to sneak in to the nursing home to visit the patients or is he recognised and let in?

Stealing Coffee: You mention that Arthur gets his love of coffee from sharing a pot with Eleanor. How did he get introduced to the fancier coffees from cafes? Does he have a preference? Does he actually try to sneak into coffee shops to steal licks?

Inventing a new ailment: I think this one is hilarious!

Virtues:

All Up Here: How does Arthur manage to retain so much information? It seems to be selective what he retains long-term, particularly spoken word. Why does he view that to be more important than other details? Does he have tv scripts memorized as well?

Supportive: Love it.

Can't we all just get along? : I’m having a little bit of trouble reconciling this one with his love for drama. In his chatting it up hobby, you’ve described him as quite the gossiper. Repeating what others have said and spreading gossip is usually done specifically to create tension between people. The way it’s described, this virtue feels like a band-aid to the trouble he causes with his drama-llama ways. I can see how it would be fun to act out that scenario though.

Flaws:

Drama King: Very fun. I especially like the part where he’ll go and find another audience if you stop paying attention to him.

Lily Livered: Would Arthur ever use his powers in a battle, or would he stick to feline weapons and hiding/running? How would he take it if a senshi was seriously injured in a battle that he retreated from?

Papa Bear: I find this contradicts a little bit with Lily Livered, only because you mention that Arthur runs away from battle, with the excuse that the senshi can handle themselves, but in this one you say that he gives off the impression that he doesn’t believe in their decisions or abilities. I understand him being protective though and I do like this flaw in general.

Arthur is a tough cookie to crit. You’ve got a really well-rounded character here and he seems like he’ll be loads of fun to role play. He’s very, very cute.

Thank you so much! You really helped point out the contradictions in his profile. I went and fixed them (I hope), and hope I've polished the profile a little bit better. Thank you for the help!

Hey there Kistune! Here to give you a crit, so let's start! biggrin

First of all, he's so CUTE! I love his design, epically cute. Especially the glasses! Ha ha! And he's based on a gorgeous cat, so I very much love his design.

Stefano is so evil!! D: I don't watch Days, but my mom does and she's always going on about Stefano, so I love that you mention that.

Visiting The Nursing Home You need an 'are' between "He likes the way they ____ reminiscent" .

Stealing Coffee This sounds really cute, but you mention earlier that he swears he's lactose intolerant. Most people don't drink their coffee with soymilk (I do! Erm, sometimes that is...) so does he drink those with regular milk?

And that's really all I've got for you. You've done a beyond awesome job fleshing him out and he's so interesting! I cannot wait to see him in RP and I hope he and Lottie can rp together sometime because I think she'd secretly love his dramatic antics!
I wish you the best of luck getting him, and I really want to see him in action soon! Good luck!
