The white leopard sat in the dying light of the sun's rays as dusk began consuming the land. He was outside his den, where he and his mate had usually slept, ate, and spoke with each other. But tonight... she was absent. Linje was used to Nyoka's disappearances, but lately they were happening more frequently. He thought about bringing it up, but... something kept him from doing that. Perhaps it was the fear of what the answer might be.
The leopard was anxious, one of those new and unpleasant emotions Linje experienced caused by his mate. As a result, he found himself grooming his fur excessively. He was concerned that he might be abusing his beautiful coat when he discovered chunks of fur in his den. He was absorbed by thoughts and worries, and he remained oblivious that tonight he'd have unwanted visitors.

Kinagiri was feeling restless and impatient and so was not having the best of evenings. She and Jino had been on the move for the last couple days, deciding they wanted a change of scenery-- and the bossy serpent usually made it hard to enjoy the trip. At that moment, she just so happened to be cheerily ignoring him. It made her feel better so she went along with it. She had no idea anybody was around and no idea about anyone they might run into, she had no spontaneous visions that day and so only expected to keep walking until she found a suitable place (at a suitable time) to stop. Jino was in a good mood, he didn't care about Kina not talking to him and let her have her space and silence-- and she was still allowing him to ride along around her neck so he wasn't going to complain. Unlike Kina, however, he knew when they were getting close to the white leopard. He was lazily thinking through about any interesting things that might happen and came across a flash of the nearby stranger. He snapped to attention curiously, a sign that there was something to investigate that Kina certainly recognized.
They were fairly close, he knew that much.

Linje spotted what appeared to be a lioness in the distance. Fantastic, just what I need. A visit from an airheaded feline. The leopard rolled his eyes, flicking his tail as he rose from his resting state. A gentle, displeased growl sounded from his throat, one he assumed the lioness couldn't hear.
As Kinagiri got closer, shadows dissipated, and shapes and colors became more clear... Linje noticed the snake hitching a ride around her neck. A snake? The leopard looked puzzled, he's never before encountered any creature with a relationship with a... reptile. He's never wasted his time on such a disgusting, lowly creature. When he continued thinking, he only got more confused, so he shoved his thoughts aside.
The leopard took a step forward, letting the fur on his neck rise as he went into defensive mode. "This is my den - my territory. I command you and your.... " He took a long pause to gaze at the slimy looking beast on her neck. "...Thing to leave immediately."

When Jino was suddenly paying a little too much attention to what was going on around them, Kina knew that someone was around that they were about to run into and she paused-- but only for a split second before she kept moving. She couldn't stop it, she could only keep going. She didn't particularly feel like talking to Jino about it, either, so if he had to tell her something he would have to do it on his own. It wasn't until she actually caught sight of the rather aggressive-seeming leopard that she questioned his judgment and actually slowed herself down.
"Your territory? What's a leopard doing out here?" she asked.
"I am a snake," Jino spoke up, staying quiet until they were approached- he knew Kina would follow through, of course he knew, "And you ought to learn some manners." His tail swayed as it dangled from one side of Kinagiri's neck and he smirked at the leopard, considering what he might say. This was going to be rather entertaining, he could already tell. "And here I thought we might offer you some advice, Linje," he said.
