--AIM Log between Shia & Nuxaz Mwanyambi & Mii'ah
Mii'ah sighed, life in the pridelands had grown rather boring once she had hit her early adolescent days. Back when she was younger she simply thought that having daddy's attention was the best thing she could hope to achieve, and achieve it she did. There was never a time that she wanted something and her father hadn't given it to her, he spoiled all of his children that remained with him after he had parted from her mother.
Yet it had left the young red female with a feeling of emptiness. There had to be more to life than getting everything you ever wanted. She wanted to be challenged, she wanted to strive for something greater. There simply had to be more to life. And that had led to her announcing that she would be parting from the family and embarking on a journey.
As to where the female was headed, she didn't quite know, but to her it didn't matter. Surely she would stumble across something that would lead her in the right direction. She could feel it in her bones.
Rolling her head back she let out a yawn looking up at the sky. The sun was hot, but it was to be expected, she found herself traveling through the desert across the sands. At times she felt that heat was unbearable but it only resulted in her pushing herself that much harder.
"Come on Mii'ah, you wanted a challenge and you presented yourself with one. Don't quit now," she scolded herself as thoughts of retreat scampered through her mind. She wrinkled her nose and lowered her head. Where was she? This area didn't look familiar, though most hadn't, but there was a different air to this place. "What on earth?"
--
What was the tolerance for intruders? There was too little time for him to learn the ins and outs of this desert plain, too little to know whether this lioness was to be welcomed with open arms or with a fight. For a time he watched, her back to him as the sun beat along both their furs and show apparent damage to each hair. She was dark, and her smell, one that traveled on the winds, seemed familiar. At least, it smelled a lot alike to what he had once known.
When her head rose and she seemed to stir from slumber, it was time for him to close in. His paws slipped along the sands, but after months of traveling them; this stumble almost seemed done purposely. "What is your name?" His voice rang, a lack of formality mingled with authority. "What are you doing here?"
--
Her ears flickered at the sound of another voice. She wasn't alone, mentally she cursed herself for not being more aware of her surroundings. If she wasn't careful someone could easily sneak up on her and she couldn't have that. She was barely learning to walk on her own four paws so to speak. She turned her head to spot the dark male, a small frown decorated her lips as she turned to face him completely. "Hello to you too," she snapped almost playfully. "And for your information my name is Mii'ah, but I won't tell you any more until you introduce yourself to me first," she stated firmly.
She had heard of grumpy lions before but she never expected to meet someone so...rude? She wasn't sure what made the male think he was so special but she wasn't going to put up with it. "I'm sorry but I find it rude to demand someone's name without first giving your own name."

"Some have their ways of doing things that others simply do not understand." Mwan retorted quickly, ears flicking back in surprise. Surely he did not think all that highly of himself, although becoming a member of the pride filled a portion of the lion with self-entitlement; a small part of him which wanted to use the power but the majority that never would. What was going on here had nothing to do with ego in actuality, not so much as it did with misunderstanding. Mwanyambi was a very awkward lion, polite tendencies vaguely implemented in his youth and not there at all as he grew into his current age. He didn't expect anyone to understand him or his ways, but he also never expected to confront many lions to begin with. Rumbling with discomfort, Mwanyambi continued. "This is my job here, Mii'ah. I don't make friends along the border so much as I question and get answers, then move along." "I'm sorry if you took my approach as rude; I am just doing what it is I need to. I am one of many who protect a pride after all." With that he grinned, yet even that seemed misplaced on his serious black face.
--
"Perhaps," Mii'ah replied eying the male carefully. She knew that it wasn't his intention to be rude, he seemed like a male who was definitely not a people person. "You can do your job and still be decently polite to the outsider," she commented with a small shrug. "You don't need to be friends with someone to treat the well," she stated rather coldly. She didn't care what his excuse was, it was pointless. She was a female who didn't take s**t from anyone regardless of what their job was. She might have barely been getting out to see the world but she certainly knew better than he apparently did.
"For your information I am here for a reason but seeing as you still haven't introduced yourself I won't tell you what that reason is."
--
Her stubbornness was wasted on the patient lion, eyes barely squinting in the suns ray. Mwan had known plenty of girls like this back in the Pridelands, dealt with none but knew from a distance what trouble they brewed. She was feisty and it reminded him of what the meaning behind 'pride' meant. Even if the girls were always destined for drama, their sense of pride inspired just as much as it seemed to bother...
So, the willingness to cooperate if her demands were met seemed acknowledgeable at the very least. His tail swept the sands beneath its end while he, taking his time, said "My name is Mwanyambi, if it matters that much."
After a pause, feeling as if he should search her face for any sign of recognition, the lion continued,
"Now, I need to know your business here in the desert. Do you by chance know where you are besides just 'the desert'?"
--
Mwanyambi," she repeated as if it would help her remember better. It was rather amusing, or rather she certainly would have found it so, that they had both come from the pridelands and left in hopes of finding the Firekins, a pride the male had already joined. A smirk spread across her lips knowing that she had effectively gotten him to do what she wanted him to. "I know exactly where I am," she retorted confidently before stating where she hoped she was. If he was here for his pride that meant she was exactly where she wanted to be.
Or so she hoped.
"The Firekin's lands."

Letting his eyes narrow a bit, Mwan finally murmured "You are correct." before sliding his forepaws together without so much as a thought.
"And your business here?" a look of uncertainty passed over his contorted face for but a moment, replaced hastily by a look of curiosity.
"Good," she replied, a smirk spreading across her maw. She had done it, she had found the pride she had been looking for! The one she planned on joining. One she could hopefully call home. She had loved the pridelands, as well as her family that still lived there, but it hadn't provided her with an environment where she could challenge herself. She needed a place where she could prove that there was more to her than just a pretty face.
She had been given everything she had ever asked for and still it wasn't enough. She was tired of asking. She wanted to earn it.
"Who are you to ask?" She questions quirking a brow. If he was going to be all business then she was going to push his buttons. "I'm seeking a challenge," she stated rather plainly a serious expression upon her facial features.
It explained her behavior, this search for a challenge the female seemed to be on, and gave the male a tickle in his gut. The idea humored him, but what gave Mwan a kick was just how alike their quests had been; how similar their journeys were to the very last detail. Those dark lips of his parted but no words slipped from the crack, not at that moment at least. There had never been more of a reason for him to like a lion then this, and no more of a reason to believe them either. Drawing his eyes off of her face where they had glued themselves indefinitely, Mwanyambi shared the smirk with the lioness.
"Well, I am a member of the pride and if you know anything at all about us, then you know that we do not take kindly to intruders." An exaggerated breath separated his sentence, followed by a light chuckle.
"I am well aware of that," she replied sharply cocking a brow at him. He acted so high and mighty, it wouldn't hurt to knock him down a few pegs. At least that's what she wanted to do, but she had to remember that she wasn't here to cause trouble. She was there to seek entrance, acceptance. She wanted to join the pride, not be turned away from it.
"I wouldn't necessarily consider myself an intruder, not yet," she stated firmly. Her green eyes never left the black cat's form. "I'm here to seek entrance, I hope to join," she told him rather casually with a shrug. "I know that I must earn it, which is exactly what has brought me here," she paused. Her smirk returned to her lips as started to speak once again.
"You just happened to find me before I could do that."

Finally the male broke down his walls and slipped into an uneasy bout of masculinity. A woman could only tear you down for so long before you cracked. His large black form swayed on each paw, eyes gold as the sand searching the face of this female for signs of weariness. Surely there was concern within her, standing before a strange male who could potentially be no more an ally then an enemy, but she had far too large an ego to let any of it show. "So..." Mwan huffed, letting her words ruffle his fur ever so slightly. "You're looking for a duel then, is that it? Or have you not done enough research as is to know how we go about things in the desert?" Deep within his chest a purr rumbled, surprising even himself as he usually was not one to stir up trouble--especially the flirtatious kind.
"If you are so bold as to approach a member and throw about your own form of strength, perhaps you'd like to demonstrate it in the ring? I'm sure the pride would love to welcome another member into its ranks...so long as their pride did not overstep their ability to fight."
He had fallen right in to her little trap and she was simply grinning because of it. "You can't resist a challenge can you?" she teased flicking her tail behind her playfully. She might have gotten him to crack but she was going to continue to push him just to see how far she could go. She was aware that it was a dangerous thing to do, especially since she didn't know him well but she was willing to take the risk. If you didn't take a risk now and then you would never experience the more exciting things.
"I am," she replied with a curt nod. "I've done my research thank you," she told him sharply. He treated her like she was an idiot, that she was just some stupid rogue wandering around without abandon! She was far from that and she wanted, no she was going to prove it. "Are you afraid you're going to lose to a girl? A rogue girl?"
Those rounded ears shot back in response to her stark remarks, a look of mock disgust raising the skin of his maw but not a word was spoken until she finished. Mwan hadn't expected to do so much talking this afternoon; it surprised him more that he was willing to talk to a rogue female at that...
"I'm not afraid!" His breath coiled about his nose, warming up the end of his face in some embarrassment. "What makes you think you're even right for the pride?" With a tilt of his head the male scoffed.
She laughed lightly as he began to get riled up. "Calm down," she told him with a shake of her head. Now he was beginning to get a little angry, or so it seemed. She needed to tread forward carefully.
"What makes you think I am not?" She asked him cocking her head, her smile playful and daring. She found the black male to be very, very interesting. He got her riled up and made her even more excited to be entering the realms of the firekin. She needed the challenge. She craved it.
