i revoke my statement. drowning is probably the second kindest fate.
just stomping on them would be better.
if you remove a spider from its web, destroy it's web, whatever, it's a death sentence. they don't have the energy to build a new one, so they generally starve to death.

I didn't know that. And people say it's kinder to just put them outside.

Yeah I usually just put them outside on a tree or something. When I was a kid I would put them in jars and then collect some ants to see what would happen the next day.
