Switch had seen a lot of inventory in her shop come and go; some became children, but most did not. There were a few items that she had seen twice, whether they were the same ones or duplicates she was never sure. Among these items were a bunch of 'evolving' items she had seen around Gaia, curious little trinkets that usually housed special types of outfits. It was a genius market! Whoever thought of cramming an entire wardrobe into a single outfit was brilliant...it saved so much space!
There were a lot of them on Gaia now, and there were a few she had seen come and go pretty quickly; right now there was a few of them in her shop; Inari's Beads, Gogh Reed and Yemaya's Pearl. Cute names too, she thought...must have been brand names? Probably. With a yawn, Switch sat down at her desk, rolling the curious Gogh Reed fruit between her hands.

Windy. That is what it was outside. Windy might have been acceptable, had it not been also rainy. Windy and rainy, right now, in Tairi's book? Definitely the worst.
She had left her house on a mission-- she was dressed normally, as it had yet to start raining and she had an umbrella just in case. It was kind of windy, but hey she wore shorts under her skirts and dresses anyways. The wind had created quite a mess of her curly hair, and while she was trying to sort that little issue out- BOOM. Rain. "Eck!" She jumped as the sudden downpour started. Hey? Where was the WARNING here? Where was the DRIZZLE?
She sighed loudly and went for her umbrella now, long blonde curls left to become soggy and continue whipping about her face. She opened the umbrella and BAM. The wind yanked it straight from her hands and began pulling it down the street. "NO!" The soggy young woman began her run down the street after it, dodging other (much more dry, comfortable looking) pedestrians. Needless to say, when she got her umbrella.. It was busted. Busted beyond repair.
It was in this tired, irritated, soggy state that Tairi ended up at the door of a rather familiar second-hand shop. "Maybe they will have something..." The defeated woman mused to herself, taking a step into the dry establishment. She cringed slightly when she noticed what a wet mess she was making, and tried to ring herself out a bit at the entryway. Gosh.. She had gotten a babysitter for her kitten and everything, and this is what her first day to herself was like? She groaned inwardly, and then continued onwards. She approached Switch quietly, humbled by her current condition. She was soaked, her hair was ratted and mussed, and her tail was poofed out slightly behind her, revealing her irritation.
"Hello.." She greeted the other woman softly, eyeing what she held in her hands curiously. She felt embarrassed.. "Umm.." But instead of continuing, she decided to just wait for the other woman to respond.. Geez, Tairi...

Switch looked up when the door opened, pausing her rolling of the Gogh Reed to look at the poor, soaked woman. The shop was built so sturdy sometimes it was hard to hear thunder from outside, so she had no idea it was so bad!
"Hello! Oh dear, let me get you a towel or something, one moment!" The blue haired shopkeep said, abandoning the three special items to disappear upstairs. She returned a moment or two later with a few towels, offering them to the poor, drenched woman.
"Switch." She said belatedly, aware that the other woman had been looking for her name. "Switch Gear...I run this shop...and wow, it must be pouring out there! Stay in here until you warm up, okay? Don't want you getting sick!"

Tairi flushed deeply, nodding in a meek manner. She waited quietly while the woman went to fetch her a towel, peering around the store and chewing at her lower lip... Wow.. Way to go, Tairi. Ever the lucky one. And she had always thought it was black cats that were supposed to be the unlucky ones.
She took the towels with a small smile, "Thank you so much..." And proceeded in attempting to dry herself.
Her large blue eyes lifted, peering up at the other woman now, "Oh-- nice to meet you. I'm Tairi." She smiled yet again now, wrapping a towel around herself. "Alright.. Thank you again.. That's really nice of you."
She took a moment to try and dry and tame her frizzed curly hair, and got some success from it. "Mind if I look around while I'm drying off? Might as well, y'know?" Her smile seemed almost embarrassed now. "What do you have in?" She didn't quite know what else to talk about. She was normally a shy little creature, but keeping to herself wasn't much of an option here.

"You're very welcome! It's nice to meet you as well." The green eyed woman smiled, stepping back to give Tairi her space to dry off. Sure being wet was bad enough, but wet and crowded was never fun! "Again, you're welcome; it's the least I could do, it's apparently nasty out there." Switch was human, but she certainly didn't care for the rain, especially on days like today. The feline asked to wander and she nodded, moving to sit behind her desk to play with the Gogh Reed item again...it was strangely addicting to play with it! The pearl seemed too nice, and the string of beads seemed...well, too important to play with.
"Go right ahead! Don't worry about getting anything wet." As for what she had in stock? Switch could only shrug. "I can't even get a full inventory of this place, it's crazy. There's...quite a lot of things here, rare, common, even downright weird. I got these in today though..." She said conversationally, motioning to the three items on her desk, picking up the pearl and holding it out to Tairi, so far innocent as to the item's intentions.
"I think this one is suited for a day like today...with all the fish." She giggled; it was apparently raining very hard.

Tairi nodded meekly. "Yeah.. It was nice when I headed out, but then it started to pour out of nowhere... And my umbrella broke.." She gave a lopsided frown. This was only momentary, however, as a relieved smile replaced it. She was glad to see the other woman was so nice. It was definitely.. Well, at risk of being redundant, relieving.
She continued to dry her hair as she glanced around, cringing at the feel of the towel on her ears. She hated that part, but oh well. What was a girl to do? She took a moment to dry her tail off, as well. A wet tail was just awful. She turned now to look Switch, taking the pearl from her delicately and holding it in the towel. "Ooh~"
She looked at the other items that had been motioned to before, and then back to the pearl. "These are kinda cool... I really like this one.." She moved it back and forth. It was very shiny, and it did smell kind of like fish. That moved the cat in her, that was for sure. "How much is it?" She questioned, a touch of wonder in her voice.

Switch wasn't expecting it, but looking back on it? She totally should have. The moment the Pearl ended up in Tairi's hands, Switch felt that tug at the back of her mind, the one announcing to her, and only to her, that the item wanted a life with that person. The corners of her lips twitched into a slight smile; how fun, a fish-based item, wanting a feline as its Guardian! Still, the woman tried to look nonchalant about it; she could never tell them what item was going to turn into a child, the shop always silenced her...but it made life interesting to make up some excuses.
"They are pretty neat...and I'll tell you what...These items here haven't quite made it to my inventory list, so technically...I don't own these items yet. They were simply dropped off!" Switch winked at the Feline woman, a sly little grin on her lips. "So I'll give that to you for free, for all the bad luck you've had today! No returns or exchanges of course, but if you would like that Pearl, it's all yours."

The girl looked rather started, ears perking at the statement. "Oh.. Really? Dropped off?" She continued to listen, however her gaze drifted back down to the pearl... It was so pretty.. Something about it just seemed to tug at her. Hmmm.
What was it about this little pearl? "For free?" She looked up at Switch with wide eyes, seeming genuinely startled. She never really got things free, sans one or two things (like her baby boy, for example.. which really should have tipped her off..) so she was surprised. She slowly smiled, and then quickly nodded. "Oh, yes! Yes, thank you soo much.. You're so nice.. Thank you for everything.."
Today suddenly seemed to be getting brighter. With this strange act of kindness, she felt a bit of strength rise back up into her. "I should probably get going then, I have a little boy waiting for me." She began to backtrack towards the door.

"For Free." Switch confirmed with a small chuckle, nodding and waving her hand in polite dismissal at the words of gratitude. "You're very welcome, Tairi; some days you just need it, right?" Naturally, she saw the woman start to back track, and waved her fingers in farewell. "I understand! Don't want to keep the little one waiting; Safe trip home!"
Of course, when Tairi left the shop, the sky was clear and blue; the sun shining. The only indication that it had been raining was a few stray puddles on the ground.
