It had been several days since the nightmare that had plagued Demetri Wright. Days since that night he spent clinging to his poor sleepy roommate, unable to go back to sleep for fear of what he'd find in his dreams. The first night he had refused to sleep at all, eventually crashing in the middle of the day when his sugar supply ran low. From there it had been a slow process to ease himself back into dreamland, but with each day it got easier and easier. Why, the last night's dream had even been somewhat -comical-, as the Scheelite of his nightmares suddenly grew a pair of boobs in the middle of some serious rant of his. While that had been -terrifying-, compared to the original dream it was also kind of hilarious.

Assuming that the nightmares were in his past (perhaps he had just eaten the wrong thing before bed? who knew!), Demy settled into his bed for a nice restful night.

Clearly this just wasn't meant to be.

He awoke not in his bed, but somewhere out in the forest. Thoughts were jumbled, and really he was having a hard time figuring out just -what- had happened. His head was pounding, and upon lifting a hand to gently touch it he was met with something wet.

Blood.

Scheelite (when had he shifted into his Negaverse gear?...) stared dumbly at the red liquid for a moment, his thoughts only interrupted by a sudden loud scream. But not just -any- scream, he could swear that sounded like Zink. His own wounds forgotten he stumbled to his feet and off in the direction it had come from.

But he was late. Far too late.

Z had always been a bit short, but crumpled so lifelessly on the forest floor he seemed even tinier still. Whoever had hurt him, had hurt his partner was gone, leaving the body behind. Scheelite ran to his side, dropping to his knees and cradling the body of the one person he truly loved.

Zink, no...-Z-, was gone. There was no breath, no beat of a heart, just a body slowly going cold as he cradled it in his arms. Z looked so peaceful, almost child-like in his eternal slumber. Maybe it was in death that Z finally found the respect and happiness he desired so much.

He was gone, and his other half was left behind. Scheelite was lost, so -very- lost, and did the only thing he could do...he cried. Not as Demy, but as the Negaverse agent that terrified the normal student inside. What would he do? What COULD he do? Z had been his everything. Demy dragged himself through the days at school because it made Z proud. Demy went with all the plans Z came up with because it made Z happy. Demy allowed his darker side to do what it wanted because it helped Z.

With no Z, Demy's carefully laid out world was shattered. Without Z there was no world, and with no world there was no reason for Demy to still inhabit it.

"This wasn't supposed to happen..."
One hand went to brush the bangs out of Z's face for a final time.
"We were supposed to go together. Don't you remember our deal? One can't go without the other..."
Schee shifted the body of his partner, setting the smaller boy carefully in his lap to look like they were sitting together, before grasping one of his hands in his own.
"Don't worry Z. I'm right behind you...just like I've always been."
And then Schee plunged his hand into his own chest, Z's captured hand following in suit. The two hands wrapped around his own starseed and began to pull.

It hurt. It hurt a lot. He figured it had to, afterall it was your very -soul- being ripped out. But he could not..no WOULD NOT live without Z at his side. He refused to, and if Z was unable to fulfill their suicide pact then he'd just have to help.

It hurt. It was intense, he tried so hard not to scream but in the end he had to, the pain of losing Z and the physical pain of his starseed slowly being pulled out far too much to handle.

It hurt...but it'd only hurt for a little while. Then he'd be with Z again. Then the world would be right again.

And there'd be no more pain.
