The pleasant sun gave a peaceful background to the aching lion as he relaxed next to the watering hole. Creatures of all sizes gathered around him to gossip and drink, most if not all paying him no mind.
It was no secret that the lion only ate what he needed and chose to pick off the injured to save the herds unnecessary grief. They had no idea where he came from or why he was here, other than he was more trustworthy with their young than even some of their own males.
Fiore yawned, flashing off his pearly fangs before stretching out his paws, wincing as an ache ran up his leg. If only he were as young as his students thought he was.

Mihika slinked through the tall grasses like a pro. Her body stayed low that she could nearly feel each thumping step of the herd's hooves. Her tail however couldn't resist peeking up above the grasses every other step or so. Not that it mattered - Mihika wasn't here to hunt, but to drink.
Her approach could scatter all the various prey around the watering hole, but she doubted it. Many wouldn't find a young leopardess, not yet an adult, that was by herself much of a threat.
Keeping low Mihika leaned over the sparkling water. Perfectly silent, save for the threatening hints of a soft purr, the leopard started to lap up the cool drink.

Fiore lolled his head onto the side, huffing into the grass. A stream of little white puffs jutted up into the air like gliding birds that twirled for his own amusement.
He slunk to his paws and, still licking his lips, meandered to the watering hole for a drink. The beginnings of wrinkles around his eyes and the laugh lines around his mouth became more visible as he gingerly slurped at the water. It did wonders for his over all health. He felt like almost young enough to challenge a male for a female.
At the thought, he chuckled openly, completely unaware of his company.

Ah, what a refreshing moment. A faint breeze brushing the fur on her back while her thirst was finally satisfied by the cool waters. There was no hurry - no predator to move her. The leopardess smiled happily before her ears perked up at a sound.
"Hmm?" Lazily her gaze went to the side. What had that noise been? When she found the source, Mihika froze. Oh for the love of the gods! It was a li-lion! Mihika's claws dug into the ground as she realized that she was standing in plain view.
Feeling too full to run, Mihika decided to stare down the lion. Hopefully either he would ignore her or be frightened? Yeah right.Luck be with me that he won't see me.

Fiore rolled his eyes up ever so slightly to gaze at a leopardess he hadn't seen before. He was obviously unpulsed by her arrival, because he continued to drink in a relaxed pose. Still, he was curious. It had been ages since he last spoke with another feline and she was there.
He stood up with a satisfied sighed and stretched, popping his back. "Nice day, isn't it?" Fiore couldn't help, but notice just how uncomfortable she was. Could she be a maiden? He wasn't planning on touching her, but how could he reassure her without being creepy?

She was about to sneak off before he spoke. Crap. Mihika's body tensed as she looked over at the older lion. Was...was he trying to make normal conversation with her? The leopardess repressed a sigh - how weird! Most lions she had met would be tearing into her hide by now.
"Nice day?" Mihika finally mananaged to sputter a reply, "Su-sure it is!" Well it was. She couldn't help but to pout while her gaze scanned the area for any possible escape.
Sadly enough, it seemed there were no distractions for her to use yet. Mihika was stuck in the lion's sight - but if he moved, she would be much faster. Well...that was what she hoped.

Fiore's smile was kind and soft, even as he slowly began to approach her. His legs shuffled in the cool water. It was taxing, trying not to slip, but the relief made it worth it. "You don't have to be so nervous, you know. If you ran, I couldn't chase you. Well, maybe I could, but I wouldn't want to. These old bones aren't what they used to be."
Disease robbed him of his strength most days. Couple that with his age and demanding job, Fiore was lucky to get up a trot.

Mihika's muscles tensed and she couldn't help but to back up a step at the lion's approach. Even though he reassured her, she couldn't help her natural reaction. What if he snapped? Was it a trap?
But it was really hot, and the water felt sooo good. Mihika sighed as she decided to stand her ground this time. "I'll take that. Buh don't be surprised if ya try anythin'. I can run really fast and fight." She nodded and tried her best to look menacing in an attempt to confirm that fact.

Fiore gave up. It was too hot to have her run off and already he was starting to quiver. Gracefully, he laid down with his forepaws in the water, chin rested on his crossed wrists.
"I don't doubt that." He nodded, wriggling down into the muck for a comfy spot. Already he felt so much better. "Being a rogue is hard, and I'm sure your a far more capable fighter than I."

Mihika repressed the sigh of relief that seeing the lion lay in the water brought. "Good that ya think that." Her tail waved in the air one last warning before she followed Fiore's lead and laid in the water. "Mmm." She couldn't help but to purr in pleasure as she stretched out into the cool pool.
Goodness it was so hot and she was tired! Maybe a nap wouldn't hurt, but then again...Mihika suddenly remembered the older lion and snapped her eyes open to stare. How could she have nearly forgotten him?!

Fiore couldn't repress his smile, though he did hide it from her. Youth today. As the water lapped up on his side, he couldn't help the yawn that escaped and inevitably, the nap that followed.
One would never know he was asleep until his nose filtered into the water and he rolled over, snorting and coughing, shaking his mane out before giving it a second go.

Mihika grinned as she realized that the old lion was sleeping. Not that she could blame him, it was really nice and cool here in the water. And now the clouds were blocking out the bright sun...Mihika yawned. Her thoughts were becoming rather sluggish and she found herself yawning more as her eyes closed.
Minutes later, one would find it odd to see a young leopard laying against an older lion - both napping in the cool waters under the Savannah's sun.
