User Image Humming what to many in the building would be a familiar (and, possibly, infuriating) tune, Alice meandered down the hallway toward her superior's office, having received the summons to do so a few hours before, and having waited until she was about twenty minutes late before she roamed out of her own quarters. She didn't seem to be in any particular hurry; in fact, to anyone watching, she'd seem to be trying to make as long a path as possible to Seth's door, covering every inch of linoleum floor along the way as she zig-zagged back and forth.

The humming was punctuated by the occasional tap of her slender fingers on the clipboard she was carrying, which she glanced down at from time to time. Given her thoughtful expression as she did so, any passers-by would likely be surprised to discover the clipboard was empty. This fact didn't seem to make any difference to the way she contemplated the thing, though.

Indeed, it was the clipboard that would find its way into Seth's office first, crashing into the door frame as its handler misjudged the corner (and wandered in without knocking).

Alice adjusted her glasses and looked around for the one who'd summoned her. "I'm late."

...

That was the second time someone had barged into his office without knocking the past couple days. Seth looked up from his computer, not bothering to hide the annoyance on his face. He was still irritable over the mission and the recent incident with 1337. He was starting to wonder if the world just had it out for him lately, and maybe he should start locking his door more. Whether or not he was expecting someone.

"I noticed." Seth replied, managing to stay cool despite his obvious irritation. "How about. 'I'm sorry I'm late.' Or better yet. 'I'm sorry I'm late, -sir-?'" Not that it really mattered, since Seth would have been just as irritable if she had apologized and addressed him appropriately.

"You've got some nerve, Agent Addison." At this Seth rose out of his seat and stood at his full height with arms crossed. Blue eyes staring down at her. "Do you enjoy wasting my time? Because it seems to me that you were late on purpose." The lack of apology was evidence enough for that.

Alice considered his question a moment, rocking her head side to side very slowly as she mulled it over. After a bit, she nodded. "It is kind of enjoyable, wasting your time. You get an intriguing wrinkle, just here," she said, pointing to the space between her eyebrows. "I think it's very distinguished. It's easier to think of you as a superior when you look distinguished."

She nodded, as though that was a fair, finished explanation, but added as an afterthought, "Sir."

At that, Seth's fingers drummed against his arm and he closed his eyes briefly as he breathed out a sigh. His brow furrowing again just as Alice had observed. He was obviously not amused. The lack of respect from his underlings lately was simply dumbfounding and more than a little disturbing.

Leveling his gaze on her again, he simply moved on to why she was here so that he could get rid of her faster.

"By now I'm sure you are aware about the results of the raid, despite your disappearance and tardiness in returning. Or do I need to explain?"

Looking unperturbed by his apparent bad mood, Alice wandered over to sit down opposite his desk and set her empty clipboard on her knees. "I think it would be instructive if you went over what you think happened there, yes. Sir."

"Fine."

With that, the elite sat down again, and tapped a few keys on his keyboard to bring up a time table of what had occurred during the raid.

"At approximately midnight we headed out, and infiltrated the storage facility 15 minutes later. During which there was little security aside from the usual alarms and locking mechanisms."

Naturally, Alice already knew all of this, but Seth was covering it anyway.

"Exactly a half hour after the start of the mission, we managed to break into the room containing the mainframe computer that oversees all regional PC activity. Thanks to the use of TRP's Haunter and Raichu."

A glance was spared Alice to make sure she was paying attention before he looked back to the computer screen.

"After which, 1337 hacked into the system and Hayes began his download of the Pokemon. At exactly 1 minute and 37 seconds into the download, access was cut off and power to the entire building was shut down. The mission was then officially aborted and we proceeded to make our escape."

Now they were getting to the parts that might be a bit fuzzy for her.

"During the evacuation process we encountered a police officer which TRP managed to stun with confuse ray. At which point one of the grunts disobeyed direct orders and took the officer's tazer. She and I both were then separated from the group by a Snorlax acting as a barrier."

Now he turned away from the computer, to look at Alice. "We all made it out, but a large portion of the group were shot by the officers that had ambushed us. The exceptions being myself, you, and three others. What I would like to know, though. Is where the hell you were during all of this?"

Alice listened attentively, though she looked down at her clipboard and nodded from time to time. Apparently what he was saying corresponded to her notes (her non-existant notes, that is).

When he finished, she tilted her head a little and raised her right hand. "I was shot, actually," she offered, rolling up her sleeve to reveal the burn mark on her upper arm. "Also, I mean. So that you can correct your report." She nodded earnestly, evidently believing this would be important to whoever read said report. "I guess that's how Bramble got out. He was still in the hallway when I got out of that room." She tilted her head the other way. "I guess that's why the guards there were sleeping when I left. He blocked the door, you know. He's quite large." The woman smiled absently and looked out the window. "And fuzzy. He's really nice. He ate my daisies last week."

With a blink, she turned her attention back to Seth with an expression that suggested she just remembered he was there. "Oh. But I was in the room with the canisters."

After another pause, she added, "Sir," again.

Seth frowned as Alice corrected him about being shot. He then made a note about it since obviously someone had neglected to report this.

There was a slight twitch of his brow as Alice confirmed that the Snorlax was hers. Although his expression, now rather stoic, remained unchanged.

He had to note that her gift for stating the obvious was... well. Exceptional. Yes the Snorlax was big.

"Room with the canisters? Care to explain why you were in there? And why you failed to meet up with the group?"

Alice tilted her head again, looking at Seth with a slight (and probably annoying) smile that suggested she thought he was a bit slow. "Well ... I went in there because people were shooting. It seemed a better choice than standing there and being shot more.

"Once I got in there, and realized I wasn't shot as badly as I thought, I wanted to get Bramble back in so he wouldn't get shot, but his ball was gone." She mimed the way her thumb and hand had twitched when she was thought. "I think it was in the hall.

"That, and there was all this yelling and ... zapping ... going on in the hall." She shook her head. "Really, the hall seemed unsafe.

"So, I looked around the room I was in, instead." She smiled, somewhat proudly. "There were balls in there. I found them when I opened the canisters. It was handy."

Lifting a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose slightly, Seth again sighed. Either he had a headache coming on or he was suggesting she was incompetent, or both. Either way, he had heard enough.

Seth then focused on the agent yet again.

"The most likely reason for the failure of the raid is that we have a traitor among us. And after thorough review of what happened, I must conclude that your actions are highly suspicious."

Alice mulled this over, swinging her feet as she played with one arm of her glasses, making them bounce a little on her nose.

After a long pause, she nodded. "I think you're right. It does seem suspicious, doesn't it?" She leaned forward and whispered conspiratorially, "I even know what happened in the building after you all ran away. Very, very suspicious."

Seth narrowed his eyes, his annoyance showing through again at Alice's lack of seriousness in this situation. If anything, it made her look even more guilty.

"Is that so. Then I suppose you won't mind filling out a report while I have you detained during the investigation as a possible culprit."

She shrugged indifferently. "If you like. You are supposed to be in charge, still, right? Sir."

The agent got to her feet, set her clipboard on the chair and snapped open the pouch at her waist. "You may want these, first, though." She proceeded to dump half a dozen or so shiny pokeballs onto his desk. "They were in the canisters. I figured you may want some of them."

Seth blinked once as the agent dumped several Pokeballs on his desk. For a moment he sat there in stunned silence before picking up one of the balls and looking it over. His thumb pressed the button and it popped open to release.... nothing. It was completely empty.

The elite frowned and eyed Alice. "Empty pokeballs? Is this some kind of a joke?" If it was, he wasn't laughing. But then the sight of Seth laughing might have been a very scary one indeed.

Alice smiled serenely. "I thought we could use them. They're quite nice, don't you think?" She rolled one of the balls around on the desk. "A couple of them had things in them, but I cleaned them on the way back here. You can have never too many nice, clean, pokeballs."
