Character Name: Adriaetta Age: 17 Sexual Orientation: Bisexual (but believes herself to be heterosexual) Craft/Rank: None History: To say that Adriaetta is a spoiled little princess is to understate the point a bit. Born to wealthy holders who had, in turn, been born to wealthy holders and so on down through the generations, Adriaetta has never wanted for anything her entire life. She has had toys, teachers, clothes, and playmates. As the only daughter among a collection of older brothers she has been doted on by her parents, her siblings, and frankly, considering how adorable she usually was with all her ribbons and lace, by strangers passing on the street.
Her childhood was happy and generally uneventful. Her parents allowed her to generally do as she chose as long as she attended classes with the harper and didn't cause any extreme trouble. From an early age she showed interest in the 'feminine' arts and spent much of her time being trained in dancing, cooking, and looking pretty. Suitors came and went but either they didn't meet Adriaetta's romantic ideals or they quickly grew tired of her 'me, me, me' attitude. There was no real urgency. The youngest of five, she had plenty of appropriately married older siblings. Besides, her parents know if they put too much pressure on her, she'll cry. And no one wants that!
Which begs the question, WHY did she jump on the back of a searching dragon just shortly after her seventeenth birthday and fly off to the Weyr, leaving behind her family? Was she secretly abused? Neglected?
Well, no. She's just as spoiled as she seems and if anyone did try to abuse her, you could bet her brothers would be descending like avenging angels on the guilty party.
No, truth be told she's just impulsive. When the Searchrider arrived, it didn't even occur to her that she shouldn't line up with the others. She liked dragons! Dragons were fun! And when the Searchrider actually indicated that she could be a candidate if she chose, well that was that. Go to the Weyr? Please! Think of how exciting it would be! She could Impress her very own dragon who she could love and dote on and they'd be best friends forever. Besides, life was getting dull and she was always ready for the next adventure. And if it didn't work out, well, she'd go back home where she could find a nice wealthy boy and settle down into the life to which she was accustom.
Her parents, for there part allowed it. Not in the habit of saying no to their only daughter they justified it as an opportunity to get her 'back on track' so to speak. Convinced that she has no chance of impressing they believe that after a little hard Weyr life she'll come back and be their little girl again, but maybe with a slightly more realistic approach to life.
Description: Soft living has had its affect on Adriaetta. She's pale skinned, rosy-cheeked and rounded. There's not a single pinch of muscle on those bones, just soft milky skin that bruises if you push on it too hard. Which, she'd really prefer you not do, if it's all the same!
With long curly black hair and brown eyes that don't 'pop' all by themselves she takes her time getting ready in the morning. And you can bet she wears the very finest. Which isn't to say that she's always perfectly fashionable. Adriaetta has an extreme weakness for all things soft and frilly and usually is only a few ruffles short of a wedding dress.
Personality: Adriaetta should, by all accounts, be a spoiled, self-centered b***h. And, on the first to points, it couldn't be more true. She gets what she wants. She expects to get what she wants. And seeing beyond her own nose is an activity that she rarely engages in. But none-the-less, Adriaetta is not, in fact a b***h. She even likes people, to the extent that she's aware of their existence.
Full of enthusiasm and energy Adriaetta is a one woman whirl-wind who tends to sweep people up without even thinking about it. She bounces, she giggles, she cooes, and she doesn't notice when others fail to share her enthusiasm. The star of her life is her and as far as she's aware, everyone else is just an actor in the great story of her adventures. They're there to match her exuberance, to take her on adventures, and, yes, to give her stuff. She is generally unaware of the fact that they might have needs and feelings of their own though.
This near-sightedness means there's no use hinting around Adriaetta. Dense as lead she doesn't pick up on hints. And, as such, she does come off as selfish. If she goes to get food, she'll get enough for herself, even if someone else says 'mmm, I would really enjoy some more fingerrolls'. If someone says 'get me more of that, please' she'll do it happily, and with flare but not asking means not getting. Continuing this theme, she lacks empathy. Always assuming that everyone is as happy and full of energy as she is, she lacks the ability to pick up on the subtleties of others emotions. She'll comfort anyone who starts sobbing in front of her, though she's not particularly good at it. But if someone is hurting quietly, or in a bad mood, she'll never know.
Adriaetta is all about the next new exciting adventure and right now that adventure is the Weyr. Oh, she doesn't like working and she complains but she's cast herself in a new story, where the hard working and put upon Weyr girl impresses the beautiful dragon and has a life full of romance and adventure. So she does the work, even if she does it poorly. It's not her fault she's not cut out for these kinds of things! She isn't above trying to get out of particularly unpleasant tasks using her usual bag of tricks. Which is to say, begging, pleading, and bursting into tears as necessary. While she doesn't have a temper Adriaetta can sob with the best of them when she feels she's not getting what she deserves (read, whatever she wants). Tears can also be expected when people are cruel to her, a new and rather troubling experience that certainly never happened back home!
Other: Adriaetta will be getting the green firelizard I won in the thread.

Good start!
Her history is sparse, however. You mention her origins but nothing of her growing up and only that she jumped on dragonback when she was older. Describing some of the intermediate period would be excellent, as well as the circumstances of what I assume her being Searched were would be great.
That she left a fiance for the Weyr would be a huge social faux-pas. Did her fiance abide by that? Or did he leave her, since going to Weyr pretty much being involved only there. Besides, getting shafted like that would, well, not be fun for the other party. Did she make an enemy of him?
What were her motivations to going to the Weyr? Or for accepting the Candidacy? Surely she would have know that such an abrupt, out-of-the-blue turn of events would quite likely ostracize her from family and friend. Or, if she did not know and the reality has come crashing down, how does that effect her? Dragonrider Candidacy is not a game and while it's fine for the character to treat it as such, there are ramifications for not taking anything seriously - and that needs to be reflected.
Her personality's fine except for one thing: if she cries and tries to wiggle of chores too much, she'd be punished the first few times and then quite possibly kicked out. As I said, Candidacy is serious and the Candidatemaster (and those she works with) would only tolerate her lack of work ethic so long before it becomes a question of 'does she really deserve to be here?'
As long as you understand such a bubbly, ignorant and selfish personality has the potential to face definite, and sharp, ramifications you'll be alright. That said, the personality doesn't need to be changed as long as the fallout of such actions are mentioned in roleplays.

Filled in some of the details of her background and removed the part about the fiance. He was only a side note anyway.
Also tried to add a bit more detail about her families feelings on this. She's not worried about being ostracized because for her, and even for her family, it is a fantasy. She thinks she'll impress and they'll all ooo and ahh over her dragon. They think she won't impress and there's no harm in her having a happy little adventure before returning home to be their baby again, though perhaps a slightly more grateful one. She's never had to deal with negative consequences, so she doesn't worry about them.
And yes, I'm aware that her actions as a candidate will have consequences. Work will always make her miserable but she'll start to do it once she realizes she really has no choice.

Good to go!
I didn't think the fallout of such naivety would escape you, just wanted to make that clear. She looks like an interesting person =3
