As a precaution we put a security room every ten floors. This aren't as all controlling as the security centre's hidden amongst the floors, but they do their job.
After you get by the locked doors you're confronted with a cramped room. Most of it's either taken up by large computers, monitors or comfy chairs. There's two full sized lockers up against the back wall, incase somebody has to camp in the room for extended periods. There's also a desk, with regular desk stuff: A Lamp, PC and a coffee mug.
The actual security computers are also standard fair. Multiple monitors so you can use a bunch of cameras at the same time. Keypads and joysticks for controlling the said cameras. Then there's more buttons for overriding certain security features. Minor ones really, disabling the system is only something you can do from one of the main centres.
You can also wrestle with the big computer to check security logs and print them out if you have the proper codes. Or, access permitting, you can use the PC to do the same thing.

The locked doors gave way to a thin piece of plastic which Elysia reclipped to her belt as she entered. So, this was the security room, hm? It seemed small. Mostly because there was almost no room to move.
At least there wasn't ticker tape covering the floor. She'd seen that before, though not in some years.
"Hello?"

"Gah." The security guard posted to the room nearly jumped, "Takewahateveryouwantjustdon'thurtme."
He had nearly curled into a fetal position before looking up at the intruder... Well, after his sheepish glance he noticed it wasn't an intruder, but a person with clearance on her belt.
"Heh... Sorry?" He was terribly embarrassed, "I'm on edge after drinking nothing but coffee and watching nothing but paperwork ant farms all day... Oh and checking the diagnostics for the Alpha Droids. I did that too."
"Gotta stay vigilant... Heh heh... Don't want another 27th floor happening..." God he hoped this person wasn't one of his bosses.

She bit back a laugh as she watched the man - maybe her own age? - freak out and cower. She'd never had that effect.
"Sounds like you've been very busy. But I have to ask you for something more - I'm looking for Mr. Brown. Has he shown up on any of your security camera feeds in the past... hour or so? Nobody knows where he is. Last I heard, he was on the twenty-seventh floor, but he's definitely not there now."
Elysia contemplated taking the stairs back down. She needed the exercise.

"Phibit." He practically snorted, "Mr. Brown barely comes down to any of the floors I watch. If he did that would at least be vaguely interesting. But no, nothing here, just workers milling about. Dance peons... heh..."
His joke and hand gestures were going nowhere.
"Not like earlier in the day," He paused and looked kind of silly, "Before I was on of course, I always miss the good crap. There was that break in. Now I haven't seen the footage yet, but I bet if I was here the cannons would have been deployed in ten seconds flat."
"Or something something like that." He mumbled barely audibly.
"You can always check the elevators," He shrugged, "Mind you you'll probably need someone with higher clearance than me to help. I'm only at number green... No number two... level two... Yeah two, green was my last job."

"Do you have any other cameras than the ones showing on the screen now? And has anything odd happened at all in the past hour? Just trying to rule out all possibilities so I don't have to disturb you again."
She sat down on the edge of his cluttered desk, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Well... umm... I dunno." He started pressing buttons to flip through the cameras. Though for Elysia's purpose he was pressing all the wrong buttons. Well, someone's buttons were getting pushed. But that's beside the point.
"Ants... Ants... Ants..." He said as the screen changed again and again. "Ants... Ants... An... Wait a sec."
He flipped back a couple of cameras to the elevator room. He started to rewind the footage to about the the woman said. Then he played, rewound again, played... Looked inquisitive... Played...
"Yep right there." He unnessasarly put a finger on the screen, "Somebody used the VIP elevator around the time Mr. Brown woulda left the 27th. In a hurry too, according to the diagnostic panel someone used exec overrides so it wouldn't stop."
"GAIA 9 crime scene fridays for the win I guess," The security guy watched far too much TV, "They're always looking at those screens, stop right when after they find the clue. Go all, "Back up there, what was that" and BAM, break the case."
The kid let out a far too content sigh.
"Once again," He looked over his shoulder at her, "I can't tell you where that elevator stopped, only that it wasn't between 11 and 20. I don't gots the codes miss."

She laughed a little at the pop culture-ish reference. She'd only seen one or two episodes, but she definitely knew what he was talking about. A recurring theme in the episodes...
"Hrm." Elysia pursed her lips, tugging on a curl absently.
"So, I'd have to go downstairs to the 10th floor security room, and see what they know? Fun. Today is my lucky day."

"Unless someone has level three or four clearance. Then we could just see the full VIP data file for the day." He pulled up a file for one of the normal elevators, "Computer's automatically keep track of every stop they make. Only the VIP one would be less cluttered than this."
"Actually," He once again went back to looking at her, "If we had that kind of clearance you could just look through every camera in the building until you find him."
"Wouldn't even have to leave the room." He half trailed off, "Until you had to fetch the bossman that is."

Elysia blinked, looking down as she tried to remember...
"I think I may just have enough clearance." She unclipped her ID badge once more and held it out to him.
"Does that work? I'm still getting used to how... professional and orderly everything is here. My last job wasn't that... official."

He plucked her clearance badge out of her hand and looked first at the strangers name. With that curiosity satisfied he looked for all the markings he had been trained to. Yep, it was a fourth level clearance badge, and it certainly wasn't fake.
"Well I'll be damned. You're more important than me." He smiled before putting the car in a slot and mashing some keys. Soon enough the VIP elevator file was pulled up.
"Last trip was to the VIP level of the parcade. Lets see just what Joseph was going to see." He hit another key to cut to one of the cameras. Just in time to see a certain demon dig his halberd into the ceiling and give the camera the finger. Then the screen went to snow.
"Well," He looked kind of surprised. The most interesting thing he had done all day was look at water cooler discussions and make the dialogue up. "Try another?"

Elysia frowned.
"Yes, try another one. And... can you check the records of any activity down there? I remember Joseph telling me that the farther down you go in there, the more security systems there are. There has to be something else.
"And we should probably rewind that tape, too. See what led to that. I assume that's possible?"
She got up off the edge of his desk, walking around behind him to get a better view of the screens. "I recognize that man. I saw him once before, briefly. That might be the man Joseph said he wanted to meet with when I was on the phone with him earlier."

El security dude went into multitask mode. On on screen he brought up the diagnostics for the security systems. On the other he was showing the tape rewound a bit, and on the third he was displaying another camera.
The first screen didn't show much, just the demon-man entering in a puff of green smoke.
"s**t," He looked at the last few diagnostic entries, "This are beauties. Basement lock down, launching HEAVY unit... Oh here's the cream of the crop: Subject recognised as Joseph Brown, data corrupt, proceeding to eliminate."
"Peachy keen little miss," He swivelled his chair to look at the screen, "Lets see how our heroes deal with this adventure."
The camera was about part way through the fight displaying Joseph firing his guns to make the fire wall. While distinctly Joseph, Elysia really hadn't seen him get down to business so to speak, no had she seen him use the Runespitters. This Joseph was infinitely more focused and determined than the casual boss she knew from the office. Well, until the robot started to turn towards him, then he just looked silly ducking for cover. Luckily for him Stryphe came out and utterly decimated the HEAVY unit, saving the CEO from being shot many times. Joseph then, in a style she was more familiar with, delivered the final insult.
"And now we're on live feed," He said casually still taking in the most enjoyable footage of the day, "You man be locked in the basement and seems to be having an impromptu meeting with his friend."

"Perhaps we should leave him be for now, then," Elysia murmured, bracing herself on the back of his chair as she leaned forward.
Yes, this was a much diferent Joseph than she knew. A capable, powerful Joseph who could hold his own and do more than be snarky and offer witty comebacks.
"We should probably get those corrupt security data files fixed. And unlock the door for them, when they're done their little meeting.
"Who would I have to see to get those files corrected?" She glanced back at him inquisitively.

"Normally I would have to file a report and make sure the security centre knew how I suddenly had level four clearance." He scratched the back of his head, "Mind you, that is slow and painful. I'm sure I'll get farther in my career by busting my CEO out of a parcade than I would appeasing the security centres. Who, ironically enough, are partially responsible for our boss' predicament."
"I'd suggest you using any mad connections you have." He thought for a second, "Like Lester Po. He's a badass, did my orientation. I bet if you called him he'd be on those security bastards within the hour. Maybe less."
"If you want," he let out a comically heavy sigh, "I'll start on the redundant paperwork while you go the a** kicking route."
