You always found the coolest things in second-hand shops. He'd found a rather dusty 62 mm Right Angle D.C. Gear Motor in a Goodwill just three days ago, and it was precisely what he'd ended up needing by that night.

Not all of it involved engineering, though.

Sometimes you just found some awesome little trinkets or toys that reminded you of another place and time, or a little bit of mysterious history to hang on the wall or place on a shelf.

It was this ideal that brought Arden to Balcombe Curiosities today. He had been there twice before and both times left with a good handful of treasures. He was hoping for a salvaged trunk or something of the like.

Switch yawned, stretching her arms over her head. It was her last day in the shop, she had the next two days off! In all honesty she couldn't have been happier. So many things had happened and she just wanted to sleep for as long as she could, to hang out with her mate or to take the boys out somewhere. Just...anywhere that wasn't here. The blue haired woman had taken to doodling on the margins of the papers on her desk; luckily the papers meant nothing to her.

The door opened and Switch paused her doodling, glancing over to see who it was. Oh, a regular! Smiling, she waved her hand over to the man she had met quite a few times now. "Arden, Welcome back! Lovely day, isn't it?" The woman said a bit sarcastically; it was raining out.

"Mm, maybe to some," Arden said, smiling and pulling his hood back. The rain did all sorts of amazing things to his hair, and by amazing he clearly meant terrible. It was frizzy, and the was everywhere. He began to wander, ducking down here and there to get a better look at metallic something-or-others.

"Do you have anything new and interesting to tell me about?" he asked, "You seem pretty ready to make a break for it."

"Yeah...there are people who love it. Me? Not so much." She chuckled, noting his hair as he freed it from the hood. "Mine reacts about the same...goes eeeeverywhere." With a yawn, she stretched her arms in front of her, then arched them back in the air so high a few very light cracks could be heard.

"New and Interesting? Hum...My one son; the shark boy, Quinn? Bit my oldest, Kay...drew blood and everything. It'll leave a very nasty scar...LUCKILY Kay has a high tolerance for pain, so it wasn't as bad as it could be. Still...the idiot asked Quinn if he was okay, despite bleeding." Okay, so, it wasn't new...but she didn't recall telling him this. Actually, she hadn't told anyone that Quinn nearly tore off Kay's arm...mostly because she hated recalling the blood. "Other than that? Life as usual...someone dropped off some really weird books with creepy cover art, though." Switch mused, nodding towards a box on the ground that she had yet to put away.

...Which really meant that the Shop had yet to pull them into it's mess. Switch rarely touched the items when she was given them. The shop did all that for her.

"Hm," Arden nodded, taking a moment to peer down at said books and then turning back to the shelves. The Story Told...hm. Oh, what did it matter? It wasn't like he--

At Night. He had looked again just to see the title. Lisa Kuznetsova. Earthling or Gaian? Baaah, why did he care?! He liked horror and the supernatural as much as the next man, but the cover didn't seem all that legitimate; kind of like a preteen had gone at a trial copy of Photoshop with their sketchbook.

...but still, there was something so interesting about it. In in particular, second layer down, corner sticking out beneath another. Arden approached the box and picked it up. It would be simple to check the first few pages for the planet of origin...

Looked again to see the title. Sure. Switch felt the connection made from that particular book to poor Arden, and inwardly sighed. Could any of her repeat visitors ever not get a child? Seriously? With a discreet hum, she checked the time on her cell phone. Damn, the only way she could get out of here...was to fake an emergency, again. Ugh, she hated doing this...maybe she should try another tactic first?

"Aaaah...That book is supposed to be really good! I've got quite a few copies of it here, why not just take it? A thank you for being a repeat customer." It was a simple attempt, but damnit she didn't want to keep having to fake emergencies to get people to take the bloody items. Maybe the shop should just...start a delivery service! That would work so much easier. Probably.

"I couldn't," Arden replied, squinting at the cover. Something wasn't right about those proportions. Something was decidedly creepy about them.

"How much do they cost, hm?" He began to root through his pockets for coins. Man, this was weird.
