Quiet...it was very quiet in here. There was no irritated Baby hissing at her; no pre-teen idiot harassing her, or playing with the loud (but adorable) little girl that lived upstairs; no stomping on the floor above from golem feet; nobody asking her for lunch. Nothing, just...quiet.

It was a rare moment, but sometimes she could experience it.

Of course, that didn't mean she enjoyed it when it happened! The Novelty of being alone in silence wore off very quickly, replaced by an annoying sense of boredom. Silence meant she had nothing to do, nothing to entertain her, and certainly nothing to keep her awake. So, Switch had rested her head on her folded arms, her eyes closed for a little (and very lightly slept) nap.

The urge had occurred rather suddenly while she stood watching her daughter play fight her way about the common room of the tavern instead of doing the actual task she had issued her which was to clean the tables for her allowance. The Satyress couldn't exactly blame her daughter for wanting to goof off and play instead but it was now starting to become counter productive. She had been about to reprimand when she suddenly recalled she had Xai's number and the number of someone else she trusted.

Luis wanted to go out at least for a little while with women around her age. Xai looked to be a woman her age and so did Switch...Well they were women and that is what mattered. Female bonding never hurt anyone.

The redheaded Satyress had a sudden idea. Some phone calls were made. The 'sitter arrived before Xai did which gave the unfortunate individual a chance to see the greeting the very excited girls gave each other before Luis grasped Xai's wrist and gently tugged her out the door after laying down ground rules.

Together Luis and Xai agreed...Switch totally needed in on this outing or at least their company and thus they made their way to the Curio shop. Hopefully when they got back the 'sitter wouldn't be weeping while coiled into a fetal position and nothing would be on fire...Yes, hope was a good word for that.

Luis opened the door to the shop and gazed about, "'Ey Switch? Up f'comp'ny~?"

For once today was oddly calm. This didn't happen very often and Xai wanted to take advantage. She was napping on the couch while Evari played in her room, trying on every piece of clothing she had and looking at herself in the mirror. As usual none of these articles of clothing were meant to be worn together but whatever, this was Evari's fashion preference. Suddenly her phone rang and she was startled awake, sitting up sharply and looking around for the device. Huh? This was...oh! It was Luis! She had happily answered the phone and even more excitedly arranged for Evari to spend the day with Faris while she and Luis bothered Switch for what Luis called 'female bonding time'. This sounded fun! It had been so long since she had spent time with someone not Evari for more than a few minutes! Evari was more than pleased by this plan. A day with Faris without parents? Heck yes!

Once she was sure Evari wasn't going to break anything until they were gone (Sitter included) Xai happily followed Luis to the Curio shop, chattering at her on their way there. She couldn't help it! She was excited! Xai followed Luis into the shop, looking around as well until she saw Switch at her desk, her face practically lighting up as she grinned and quickly wandered over to the other blue-haired woman. "Hi, Switch~! No Kay today?" If that was true then they could hang out just them! Wonderful!

...Oh...wait. Switch was napping just like she had been, hadn't she? Oops!
PostPosted: Sun Mar 21, 2010 11:32 pm

Switch had woken up from her light sleep when the shop's door opened. The blue haired woman had sat up almost instantly, rubbing her eyes and looking over at whoever it was that insisted on breaking her nap.

...Oh! The two she didn't mind seeing! Cool!

"Hey! Nah, no Kay today, thank god." Answering Xai's question first because it was easier, her attention then turned towards the Satyress. "Yes! I would love company." Of course she stressed the word; how could she not? She had been bored enough to fall asleep, damnit! Switch assumed they would be staying here; she may have owned the shop, but she was still working today! "How are you two doing? It's been a while!" Well...a while for Xai anyway. She'd seen Luis not that long ago.

"Fair t'middlin'," Luis replied to the question as to how she was doing as she wandered closer to Switch's little corner of the shop. She paused and crossed her arms over her midsection and gazed to Xai and waited for her to answer. She wondered briefly what they could do together. Her finger tips reached up and toyed at a bit of her deep red hair thoughtfully.

It was about the time for Lunch maybe she could get the other two to agree for a quick lunch outing at the very least, not like much mischief could be achieved during the early hours of the day. Twirling the hair on her fingertips still she queried, "Would ye both like t'ave lunch somewheres? Afterward maybe we can help ye around th'shop for a bit Switch?" Not that they'd be much help without direction but at least the offer was there.

"That is if Xai don' mind m'volunteerin' 'er." Luis said with a small grin.

Thank god? Xai blinked and looked just a little confused for all of three seconds before she chuckled and nodded, patting poor Switch's head. Ohhh she understood the need to get away from a child regardless of how much one loved them! Haha! And boy did she need to get away from Evari sometimes. She squeed quietly, bouncing her toes and lightly clapping her hands a few times at Switch's approval of their company. Yay! She wasn't loud enough to be a bother but her happiness was very clear. "I've been fine! Evari has grown since you last saw her~! But she has been giving me these..odd head pains. It's rather bothersome." Xai shrugged a little after that. She was getting better at dealing with it.

"Lunch sounds very good!" She grinned at Luis and then at Switch again. She could come, right? She said she would love their company but if they left she couldn't enjoy it! And she owned this shop, right? Surely she could close it for just a little while! That was how it worked! You owned something you could do whatever you want with it! That...was how it worked, right? Xai didn't seem to mind that she was being volunteered to help with the shop, shaking her head at Luis and rubbing at one of her headwings. Nutter hadn't chewed on them today but they were practically always sore regardless because of the constant treatment.

"Of course I don't mind. You don't mind if we help, right Switch?" Xai turned her smile down to the woman sitting near her, folding her hands behind her back. "Luis calls this 'female bonding time'! It sounds fun, right?" She thought so!

"Evari's bigger? Wow...so by 'head pains'...You mean...a headache?" The blue haired woman guessed, staring at the Alien woman in surprise. How could she NOT know what a headache was? Especially when your daughter was Evari! Sure she had only seen the girl as a toddler, but she doubted that behaviour would suddenly relax. Besides, a headache was something common! Switch nodded a little bit, pondering over Luis' suggestion. "How about we make lunch come to us? I'd love to close but, ah, I can't today. But! We can order in...and I suppose I could use some help with clearing some things." It was almost exciting, having a couple of people over! No kids, no...anything else! It'd been way too long since she'd been out with someone who wasn't Kale.

Not that she ever minded hanging out with Kale, of course!

"...'Female bonding time' is right! Geez it's been so long since I've been able to hang out with girls." Chuckling, she turned her attention from the two to her desk, riffling through a drawer to produce a phone book. She was sure that they wouldn't disagree to ordering in. "Oh, take a seat! What kinda food are we feelin?"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 22, 2010 12:49 am

"She is bigger," Luis confirmed with a small laugh, "she is turnin' into a right colorful and lovely lass," the Satyress said with a nod. She tilted her head as Switch suggested that the meal comes to them and she nodded. Luis was pleased that the others around her were rather enthused about spending time together. These two seemed as if they sorely needed additional friendship. Luis had an outlet, of sorts, through her patrons and old associations of her past.

Might as well share herself with everyone.

Luis chuckled at Switch, "Well glad t'fill avoid in y'life," she teased lightly and moved to take a seat and paused thoughtfully, "Ah, been a while since I 'ad Chinese..."

"Ahhh...I...guess? I never got them until she started to make fireworks." Now she did it every chance she got. Evari didn't do it every time but she was learning that she could if she really wanted to. Her favorite method was snapping, second only to clapping furiously. It was beginning to drive her a little crazy! Thankfully now she could just send Evari out for a few hours or people like Luis could suggest things like visiting Switch to save a little bit of her sanity! She turned a slightly perplexed look to Switch when she recommended lunch come to them, trying to imagine their food walking with legs. That was so disturbing! Why would anyone want to eat that?! Order in? Er...even Luis seemed to be agreeing to this idea though, so if both of them were okay with it then perhaps it wasn't quite what she thought it was.

So Switch didn't hang out with girls very often? Well, Xai didn't hang out with men very often! Or ever! She had met Ryan's father for all of a minute before Evari traumatized his son, but other than that? She couldn't remember the last male she had spent any amount of time with. "And it's been so long since I've been able to hang out with someone not a child!" She laughed, grinning and sitting in the nearest empty chair as Switch told her to do so. What kind of food was she feeling? Well at the moment she didn't feel any food! That was why they had to order it! She was about to give an answer when Luis said she wanted Chinese.

...Wait...that didn't make any sense! "But...Chinese are...people?" Luis ate people?! Oh man! You think you know a person!
PostPosted: Tue Mar 23, 2010 7:15 am

Switch glanced between her two friends. "So I guess they're growing like weeds, eh?" All of the ones she'd seen as toddlers were suddenly bugger...Kay included! Granted, the girls seemed to grow a little faster than Kay did. Oh well, they were cute girls; granted she hadn't seen Evari recently. But...ah...the fireworks. "Oooh yes, the fireworks...I actually just healed up from some burns from that." Luckily she could laugh it off; Evari didn't do it, Ryan did, and only because he had been scared out of his wits. "Kale just about lost it...He was so worried." The blue haired woman couldn't help the fond smile that fit on her lips; poor Kale, fawning over her. It was...adorable.

"Chinese...sounds really good." The topic changed, and Switch found herself staring at Xai. Did she...not know about chinese food! Not the people! She couldn't help it...she started laughing. "...It's a type of Food too, Xai." She giggled out, flipping through the phone book for the section she wanted...if Luis wanted to expand on the whole Chinese food thing, she could.

"Their food is great...and since you haven't ever had it before...Luis, what do you think she should try?"

Luis laughed a bit, "Aye I suppose they are. It is strange how much faster some childr'n in Gaia grow than others sometimes," she shrugged lightly. There was nothing wrong with the difference in growth of the children of Gaia, she had been used to it since she was small and it was just an observation of things she had seen as she grew herself. Luis' smile softened a bit as Switch mentioned her mate noted the care he had apparently shown, "Da's right sweet, Switch. T's nice to 'ave someone that cares so deeply."

The Satyress grinned a bit and giggled slightly, "Aye, t's as Switch says, lass. T's the name of a food type as well as a group of peoples. It isn't that t's made o' them but t's the style of food they prepare for others in restaurants an' th' likes." It was in no way their 'traditional' foods since they expanded their 'menu' along with where they moved so to speak since some food sources were more available in some areas than others.

"T's very good," Luis agreed with a nod and then pondered at Switch's question, "Mmm, m'preferences run along orange chicken, egg-drop soup, an' fried rice. Oh an' Mongolian beef is good too. 'Ow about you an' I get our favorites, an' she tries each of that an' she tries whatever she orders that catches her fancy?" Luis suggested as she glanced between the two to see how her suggestion was handled.

"Oh, so all children are like this here?" Ursontaeans aged slowly, so she had no idea this was the 'norm' for Gaia. Curiouser and curiouser! Xai nodded, smiling. "She wants to see Kay! So...I'll bring her by sometime~!" It was true, Evari wanted to see all her friends. Or well...all the friends she had so far. That wasn't very many! Mostly just Faris and Kay. Before she grew anyway. She blinked and looked very surprised yet concerned by Switch's confession that she just healed from fireworks burns, about to ask how that happened when she mentioned a name she didn't recognize. Huh? She blinked again as Luis seemed to know who Switch was talking about. Someone who cared for her? Hm...if someone cared for Switch, was a male, and was worried about her...oh! "I didn't know you were married, Switch!" Xai gasped, grinning. That must have been so much fun! She wondered for a moment what it was like to be married and stuff but she could wonder about that later, there was fun to be had with adult women!

Xai tilted her head at the way Switch was staring at her, and then at the way Luis giggled. What? Was it something she said? Apparently it was! But who named food after people? That was just so weird! Certainly other people must have also realized that by naming the food 'Chinese' it would make one assume they were eating a Chinese person. Silly people. "Oh..." She blinked. Guess that explanation made sense. She leaned over to look at the phone book, watching her look over the list of places. So they had to look on this and then they would find the food? Huh.

"I will try anything!" Xai stated proudly, her curiosity obviously stronger than anything her stomach would or wouldn't like. She looked at the menu when Switch found a place to try, reading over it with wide blue and pink eyes. "What's a Spring Roll? It sounds nice!" Was it springy? Haha! "...Bang...Bang Ji?" Oh! It had an English translation beside it. Weird name. Hot chicken salad? That sounded delicious! "Chow Fun sounds...fun~!" Rice noodles, apparently. She never knew you could combine rice and noodles!

After picking what she wanted to try Xai turned a very proud grin to Switch and then to Luis, bouncing in her seat. "Are those okay? They sound yummy!" She had no idea what any of it was but did that matter when trying new things?

"I think it varies a bit though...I mean Tek is growing a lot slower than Kay did at his age...but I don't mind. The thought of an older Tek scares me." The woman grumbled, looking down at her cut hands. Yes, a more mobile Tek was a frightening thought. Xai's words made her pause, her green eyes snapping up to stare wide-eyed at the woman, processing that sentence. After a moment or two, she blushed and wiggled a little in her seat out of pure shyness.

"U-uhm, Well, actually...we're...not married." Under the desk, she tapped her index fingers together. "Not engaged either, just...Together. But I'm happy that way!" Heck, they hadn't really even 'dated'! That was fine with her though!

Luis explained the Chinese food and Switch nodded to her suggetions; but it seemed Xai wanted to make her own, which was fine! The blue haired woman took Both of their orders before picking up the phone to order for Delivery, and once that was over, she hung up and leaned back, putting the phone book away.

"Alright! Should be here in about half hour...what shall we do until then?" Just talking was fine, but she didn't know if they wanted to try cleaning on an empty stomach.

"Mmm, got y'self a troublemaker 'eh?" Luis chuckled and shifted her position within her seat and relaxed as she watched Switch curiously especially when she seemed to get rather shy and gushy over the object of her affections. The Satyress laughed lightly in a well meaning way and nodded, "Who knows meb'be one day it'll 'appen and ye'll 'ave a ring on yer finger. It happened t'me when I least expected it." Luis observed idly with a small shrug. It was a delightful surprise but a surprise none the less.

When the food was being figured out Luis was able to at least help with the explanation of a spring roll, "T's a cylinder shaped food-thing they make wi' a special ...I guess ye can call it dough? They fill it wi' vegetables and sometimes meat," the Satyress shrugged as she added sesame chicken to her order before Switch called it up. She nodded when the woman noted that it'd be a half hour before the food arrived.

She shifted a bit forward in her seat, "Could take a look around or chatter a bit. It seems some of us had'na seen the other in a while," the Satyress chuckled lightly. Naturally she meant Xai and Switch. It would be good for the two of them to catch up.

Well it was nice to know Xai wasn't the only one who feared for her child to get too much bigger. While watching a child that she called her own grow older like a lovely flower outside was incredible...the fact that Evari was how she was? That made her growing older terrifying. Her gaze followed Switch's down to her hands, gasping and putting a hand on her mouth. "Oh no! What happened to your hands, Switch?!" Evari may have been a hellion at times but she never hurt her! Her worry was distracted by the other blue-haired woman's sudden shyness, blinking and just watching and listening to her. Oh, so she wasn't married. Then who was...oh. "So...your boyfriend~!" Xai giggled, looking over at Luis when she said her marriage had been unexpected. Wow! So Luis was married? How strange though that he was never mentioned the previous times they had met, or that she hadn't met him when Evari spent the night with Faris. Maybe he was just a very busy man. "I don't have anyone myself~. In fact...I don't...think I've ever met a man since coming here." Xai looked very thoughtful as she seriously thought back to any meetings she had had. There was that one man she had met briefly who helped her out with a video game...and then there was the man on the bus but she only spoke to him for a few seconds at most. "Not for more than a few seconds, anyway. The last man I met Evari made his poor son cry." She still felt bad for that. But before that on Ursontaea she had known many boys her own age, but there had been no 'interest' among either party. Oh well.

Xai's attention focused on Luis while the satyress explained to her what a spring roll was. Oh, okay. So it wasn't a springy thing. It sounded delicious! She listened as Switch made their orders, perked up and very interested in everything she said. Ooh! That was so easy! "Alright!" She chirped, smiling bright. What would they do? Hm...she was fine with anything but the other two might want to do something. "Leeeeeet's...um...yeah~! We can do both, right? It's been forever since I've been here!" She wanted to see if there was anything else she thought was cool here, but she also wanted to hang out with Switch and Luis.
