He was wondering around one of the Garage type places trying to figure out what kind of motor vehicle might be good, and cheap, and go from a to b. He could always fix it up later right?

He sighed as he didn't really see anyone. Then again it was what the school's mechanic's department? Granted he needed a job, but he also needed to get there a bit faster than walking less he wanted to wake up at bloody 3am to get to where ever. He gave a soft sigh before doing the somewhat annoying, "HELLO! Is anyone home? I need some advice!" He only did it because he didn't see anyone under the cars or any thing that would actually hurt them. Then again there could've been someone under something he didn't notice.

Apparently some idiots had never heard of the classroom door. In fact, this idiot had wandered in through the garage-half of the classroom.

Ellie Spectre, self-proclaimed addict to vehicles, had been sitting on one of the desks in the classroom half of the strange hybrid of a classroom. She had wanted to get some quick work done on a recent project before going home, but needed a break.

Said break was being spent studying a bit for her upcoming motorcycle test. She hadn't even bothered to look up from her booklet.

"Well, dumb a**! Maybe you should'a come in th'classroom through the school buildin' instead of around th'school buildin'." This blonde girl in the classroom half of the auto shop didn't sound very sympathetic. Yet sadly enough, she was the only one left in the classroom.

Azzo stopped cold looking over to the blonde. He paused lofting a brow and head tilting. "Oh..."

He sounded sorta sorry, "I... didn't mean to disturb you?" He said looking sheepishly around and a slight fidget.

"I uh.... if you're not busy, or if you know someone that could. Help me?" He walked over closer to her pausing and lofting a brow, "I've seen you before." He said in that unsure questioning voice.

If this dog-earred boy had any foresight as to what his choice in words was going to get him, he probably would have bit his tongue.

"Excuse me?" Her DMV pamphlet was set down on the desk and she stood up. She was pretty intimidating at 5'10", but the relatively sour expression upon her face was only adding to the intimidation factor. Soon enough the girl was standing right in front of this ridiculously puppy-earred boy. Her golden eyes were staring dead into his.

"Do ya think fer some reason I wouldn't be able t'help ya?" In her humble opinion (which was the only one that mattered), it almost sounded like he had doubts in her knowledge or abilities. Probably the standard "just because you are a girl" issue.

Azzo blinked and almost squeaked, but made another sheepish smile. Backing up slightly as he did.

"Huh... No, if you're not busy." He said, "I just meant if you're busy..." He looked around, she was actually someone he had to look up slightly to look in the eye.

He swallowed and closed his eyes for a second, "I was just saying....."

He trailed off for a second. "I didn't know if you were too busy, studying?" He said with a slight question he had moved over closer to the class room before having pissed her off. He looked around her and glanced at the booklet on the table.

The girl's lips were pressed into a straight line, and her eyes began to look over the boy. It looked as if she was trying to judge him based off his looks. When she seemed finished, she simply stated "Yer hair makes ya look like a f**."

Yes, it had nothing to do with anything, but that's how she saw it. Only dogs should have puppy ears. Not boys in high school.

If they had been outside, she might have hocked up a loogie, just for show. Yet, she was indoors. Instead, she simply just snorted slightly. "Jus' because I'm workin' doesn't mean I'm busy..."

A finger pointed to her DMV pamphlet. "That's just what I was doin' on break..." The same finger then pointed on over to some obvious car part that was on a work bench.

"That's what I'm workin' on..." Pause. "And I can work an' talk at th'same time." She was sorely tempted to roll her eyes, but held off as she turned back to her project. Without an explanation, she began to start working. It was up to him to draw the obvious conclusion.

Azzo sighed, "I'll keep that in mind."

He paused as she went back to her project thing. He paused, "OH I remember you!" He said suddenly. "You were in the hospital that one day with that monster."

He followed slightly behind her, pausing tilting his head. "Anyways..."

He seemed to be thinking, "So if you were looking to invest in a car what'd you go with some cheap pile of junk that needed to be fixed but still ran or something off a car lot?" He asked wondering if she was already to mad at him to bother.

His recollection as to how he knew her did not seem to impress the tomboy. She just continued to tighten various sections with a screwdriver or small wrench, alternating between the two for different sections. She didn't even bother to comment that she remembered that day pretty well.

She did, but then again, it was probably more because of the Youma hitting her square in the ribs.

He popped the question he had come with, and when he paused to let her answer, she did just that.

"So... do ya know anythin' 'bout fixin' cars?" It was an obvious question that he should have been able to come up with himself.

He looked at her curiously, "I know enough to keep them running. I couldn't fix a major failure I don't think, not with out someone telling me how."

He paused for a second, "Oil change, spark plugs, how to change a tire..." He didn't seem to be the type to do those things, "Oh and battery. Probably beyond that I'd be lost."

He watched her as she tightened things, coming closer to glance over her shoulder. "Probably about the same things I knew about my grand dad's old tractor." It was where he happened to watch a few of the basics. That and the old truck.

"Different on a truck I know, gotta go under the thing to get the oil out. But mostly the same principals right?" He'd come from the country, wide open places. "Oh, and I know not to let it run out of gas." Maybe he was slightly Mr. Obvious

Ellie sighed.

It was one of the common misconceptions about that question.

"No... you just answered if yer able t'maintain a car. Yer thinkin' of when it breaks down, are ya gonna be able t'repair it."

There was a pause in her voice, though her hands continued to work as they had been the whole time.

"I asked if ya know anythin' 'bout fixin' cars. Meanin' that yer car starts off as a piece of crap and yer obviously gonna have t'make it work. Cause if ya get a hunk of junk... that's how it's gonna end up workin'. The car won't even be able t'start and yer gonna have t'pay out the a** t'get it workin'."

If it wasn't obvious, she was gunning for Captain Obvious to just buy a car from a lot.

Azzo paused and blinked, "Sooo there's no cheap piles that'll at least run? Just you know need cosmetic works?"

He sighed and tilted his head, "I'm supposing you wouldn't work on it either if I bought what you needed and paid labor?" He was looking around for something to lean on but then thought better of it.

He sighed, "Oh well... I was hoping that'd be a cheaper route. I know car lots like to stick it to you without enough money to pay it all at one time. Just like banks and loans." He wrinkled his nose, "Or hospital bills..." He was still paying for that,, with what little money he had left from his grandfather.

The girl laughed as he explained the situation. It wasn't a good laugh, it was one that could be read as a bit degrading. "Oh god, kid, you've got a lot t'learn!" she bellowed out a bit.

She eventually paused with her work and turned to face him. She had a bit of a lazy grin on her face, but again, it wasn't a good natured smile. "If fer some miracle, yer able t'find one that's merely a cosmetic junkie, then yer probably doomed t'have it break down within th'first month of ownin' it."

With the wrench she had at hand, she then tapped at the part she had been working on. "Secondly... it would be kinda illegal t'pay me t'work on yer car. Ya could hire a legit guy t'do it... but I couldn't do it legally fer about another year." Once more, she tapped the part with her wrench. "Only way I could work on somethin' like that would be if I was doin' it fer free. And I've got better things t'do than work on yer potential junk pile."

Yeah, better things like working on her own junk pile of a car. And studying so she could start riding her motorcycle about the town.

The mention of banks, loans, and hospital bills almost seemed to a grab for sympathy. The tomboy honestly had none, especially for a stranger like this kid. "Well, kid, I gave ya my two cents... do whatever ya want with it..." Once more, the girl turned back to her work.

Azzo shrugged and sighed, "Oh well." He said walking off, "Couldn't hurt to try." He was talking to no one in particular.

He couldn't say he wasn't grabbing for sympathy, however he was looking for a way out of getting crooked with a car lot. "Probably would have the same problem with a car lot anyways. Less I find someone that knew a car salesmen that wasn't a crook." He paused in talking to himself.

"Well, thanks for you help, anyways.... Uh..." He paused leaning on the door out, "What was your name again? After all that commotion last time we met, I forgot it. Mine's Azzo, though not that you care."
PostPosted: Mon Mar 22, 2010 7:54 pm

If it wasn't for the fact she knew that there was a stereotype for car salesmen being con men, she might have gotten upset at his statement. Instead, she continued to work, almost seeming absolutely indifferent about what he was saying.

When Azzo (apparently that was the dog-boy's name) finally paused in speaking, she addressed his situation.

"Last I checked, my dad ain't a crook. He's a used car salesman."

She had said it so plainly, that it might have actually prevented a "foot in mouth" moment for the boy. Maybe.

There was a slight pause so that her little factoid could settle in before she then added another factoid. "I go by Ellie." She stated it pretty flatly, but she eventually looked up from her work and set the wrench down. She had been raised good and proper, so she jogged over to where he was lingering, thrusting her hand out in his direction for a quick, but firm handshake.

Azzo paused, "Oh... Hum, Well I didn't know. Forgive me." He said softly. Deciding it better not to ask if she'd mind telling him where about her father worked.

Though he took the offered hand in a hand shake. "Nice to meet you Ellie. Sorry I've practically put my foot in my mouth this whole time." At least he acknowledged it, right?

He tilted his head, "If you don't mind me asking, is he why you're so into cars?" He was trying to get at least halfway back into her good graces.... maybe. That and he didn't really care to be heading anywhere in particular at the moment. So while he decided of a place he figured a little idle chit chat, if it didn't make her madder at him, wouldn't hurt.
