Horn lowered, Malchediel charged. "YAAAAAAAH!" He shouted his most fierce battle cry and lunged for his opponent. He felt contact and jarringly skidded to a halt. Though he had wrenched his neck his horn was firmly embedded into his opponent. He had won this fight!
Somehow, the tree still didn't seem impressed.
Malchediel pulled his horn with some difficulty out of the bark of the tree in front of him. He wished he could find a real sparring partner or an enemy to fight. He had all the energy and enthusiasm in the world and nothing to do with it. Very disappointing.

The young mare's ears were pinned back against her skull. She was in full hunting mode, looking for a doe or a fawn to easily pick off. Morana knew better than to search for a buck, they were far too large for her to take a chance at.
Movement caught her pupil-less eyes and the small mare smirked when she saw the young fawn running around with fear in its eyes. It couldn't find it's mother. Poor thing...
As the mare prepared herself to launch forward and take out the fawn, a loud, obnoxious sound scared off the little thing and caused the mare to lose focus. Morana's head quickly lifted and her lips curled up over her sharp teeth as she stared in the direction the stallion was playing his little game.

Bored, Malchediel looked around for another imaginary enemy to fight. He kicked with his back legs at a tree behind him. Ha! He had caught the tree off-guard! Another loud crash resounded in the otherwise quiet area. Undeterred, he bounded forward, reared up on his hind legs, twisted sideways to land perpendicular to where he had started... and then saw the mare.
Before he even registered anything about her appearance chagrin washed over Mal. How long had she been there? Had she been watching him being an idiot this whole time? That was when he noticed something was odd about her. She had a strange shape to her. Her tail was odd, for one thing. It was long and thin like a snake's. Her wings too. He could make out leathery folds of skin and long fingers.
Abruptly his ears shot up and his head jerked back. He knew what she was. Kalona! A thrill ran through him and it was only half from fear. He coursed with excitement. A kalona! A real kalona! Excitement momentarily stilled him to silence as he watched her.

When the mare caught a glimpse of the stallion, a soft hissing sound escaped the mare's throat. What was this stallion doing? Didn't he know this was where some kalona hunted? Her tail lashed back and forth in anger as her eyes became pure white slits. She wanted to kill him, rip him to shreds, then use him as her new meal...
Her ears suddenly flicked forward and the anger she felt seemed to clear from her mind as she took a few steps towards the stallion and tilted her head at the sight of him. He was like her mother, a unicorn. She hadn't met a unicorn before, only other kalona.
Her ears flicked back and forth as her mind clouded over with thoughts. He ruined her meal, but he was a unicorn. Unicorns were weak! She was weak... The mare shook her head as she tried to clear her cluttered mind. No, no, she needed to stay focused on one emotion before she became a big ball of insanity trapped in this tiny body of hers. "What were you doing?" The mare finally asked, her voice was angelic but her tone was harsh a combination that seemed to match her odd personality.

"I was..." Confronted with this mare, Mal found himself tongue-tied. His usual bravado abandoned him. How was he supposed to act around a kalona? Somehow his parents hadn't taught him that particular aspect of etiquette. His eyes focused upwards onto her forehead. She had a unicorn horn like he did. She was... a unikalona? That simply muddled things further in his mind.
Realizing that he was standing there gawking, Mal pulled himself together. It was easiest to marshal himself into his usual behavior and that's what he did. He drew his front hooves together and raised his head high, puffing out his chest as he did so. He certainly thought he cut an impressive figure in that pose.
"My name is Malchediel," he said in his most strong and clear voice. "I was here practicing my fighting skills. Just because I'm a unicorn doesn't mean I want to eat flowers all day and be a pushover." What he was hoping is that he would appear gruffly nonchalant, instead of the youthful posturing that he was doing in actuality.

Morana watched the stallion as he seemed to stumble over and lose his words. Her tail lashed back and forth wildly as she watched the stallion. She cocked an eyebrow as he looked at the new posture he took. Quickly she looked around, somewhat embarrassed of being with this strange stallion.
Her pupil-less eyes narrowed on the stallion and she let her lips curl over her fangs in a snarl. "What do you want, stallion? Why are you bothering me?" Morana's ears pinned against her skull as she eyed the larger stallion.
"Your fighting skills are poor... Why are you trying to fight a tree anyways? You learn nothing from fighting an inanimate object." Morana's pupil-less once again glanced around and she looked back at the stallion with a warm smile.
