"I'll be back in half an hour, okay?" Lisa peered at Reyn. At least at the lab she had no qualms about dropping him off on his own for a bit.
"Kay!" The boy chirped, wriggling excitedly back and forth. This was one of his most absolute favorite places to go and he didn't get to nearly enough! Flinging the back door open he undid the two seat belts holding his long body into place. "Byyyee!!" he called, dashing towards the building.
Lisa sighed, dragging a hand down her face. She was getting so soft.

Apoxi was seated at the front desk, looking over the paperwork for an intern that stood nervously in front of her. She seemed a bit engrossed in this and was discussing something animatedly with the intern. However, there was still someone to distract Reyn.
A little girl with tanned skin and rainbow hair dashed out and tackled the boy around his middle, giving him a hug. "Hi there!"

Reyn gleefully gave the girl a hug back. "Hi!" he chirped happily. "Who're you?" he asked, not bothered in the least by a stranger hugging him.
The intern flushed, fidgeting at the desk as the woman perused over her application. She just wanted to enter the field of genetics sooo badly and every other company had just dismissed her and then she heard about this 'cause really she was good at listening to rumors. And this place seemed like it was on the up and up and even if it wasn't that didn't matter too much. She tried to grin, though it came out more like a grimace than anything.

"I'm Jiiiiiiillie. Who're you? You look like Nami." the girl said with wide eyes,
Apoxi was looking over the application, though really she was thinking about what to put this girl to work doing. "So um...what do you think you could offer our company?"

Reyn grinned broadly. "Nami's my mom. 'Cept she doesn't raise me but Lisa gets all grumbly when I tell her she's my mommy. I'm Reyn," the boy finally remembered to reply. "I'm here to be observed. Do you think 'Poxi'll be done soon? I want to give her a hug!"
The intern, hereafter named Intern, flushed bright red. "I can do paper work and keep track of supplies and get coffee and grow petri dishes and I'm really good at being organized and uh.. stuff?" She squeaked on the last part. Really. Just because she had no experience, little education, and no references was no reason for all those other places to turn her away. She was a hard worker! Very conscientious!
"I can set up meetings and mail things and anything that needs to be done I can do!" she managed to stop herself short of begging for the chance.

"Well I dunno about petri dishes - Kayen's very particular about us being the only ones who deal with the specimens and creation department but I could use the help filing and getting things." the woman said with a nod.
"Yeah, Mommy'll be done soon." Jillian agreed in a whisper, "She was just tryin to figure out if she could hire this person to run errands."
"All right then. Just sign here and you can join me on one of our business engagements for training. It's almost feeding time and one of our children has returned to have his observational visit. While this is occurring you do not, under ANY circumstances look for or disturb Kayen or her office." the short woman said, stepping out from behind her desk after handing the intern a pen and the form.
"Now come give me a hug, Reyn you goofball." she cooed, holding out her arms for the boy.

"Really!!!???!!" the girl perked up, "You won't regret it, I promise, this place'll be so organized even the an OCD would be jealous and you'll never have to worry about not finding anything again. I'll be the perfect intern," the girl continued to babble happily for the next few minutes as she signed her life away.
"Kaaay.." Reyn whispered back, before doing a double take. "Mommy?" He asked with a slight note of dismay. It wasn't bad sharing Apoxi with the rest of the experiments, they were all equal in a way. But Mommy? Reyn tried to keep from frowning. Would Apoxi not want to them hugs any more?
The boy walked over to Apoxi with a bit of reluctance, when she finally called, giving a hugging her before quickly pulling away.

Apoxi pouted, "What, no big Reyn hug? Silly boy, that's not how you do it." she said before crouching down to pick him up into a big squeeze. "That's my little dragon boy." she cooed, patting his hair.
Jillian giggled and flicked her tail, going over to bother the new lady. "Hi New Lady!"

Reyn wriggled back down to the floor, trying not to frown or look grumpy. "I'm here for my meeting," he explained, not looking at Apoxi.
The intern jumped a mile. "H-h-hi!" she stuttered, not sure what to say.

"Noooo...." he replied, clearly meaning the opposite. Not that he'd ever admit it. "Umm.." Reyn shrugged. "The other one?" He finally answered.
The intern blinked, glancing around nervously. Was she... allowed to? "Um...Okay..?" the intern muttered, lifting the girl up.
"Now what?"

"Jypsie?" she suggested, reaching down to push up his hair and check his forehead. "Well you're not feeling warm but I may make you go for a checkup with Kayen just the same."
Jillian giggled, hugging the intern. "Yay! Now we go outside."

"I'm fine!" Reyn insisted, his voice growing a bit sharp and cranky. The boy crossed his arms and refused to look at Apoxi. He just wanted to do this meeting thing and go home to Lisa and not think about sharing his people with that other little girl. They should all be equally special.
The intern glanced around in a panic. Outside? But... she wasn't even sure she was allowed to touch the kids let alone be responsible for one of them.
"Uh... Why don't we play a game inside?" she asked desperately.

Apoxi snorted, "Hey, Intern, this way." she called, taking Reyn's arm to casually lead him. "You've gotta come with us to see where Jypsie lives, then you can take Jillie for a walk."
They arrived at the room - a large one, separated into four sections, with very different landscapes to each. One was a dark meadow, one was a light meadow, one was a normal house, and one was what looked like a rain forest or a jungle.
She led Reyn into the final section and up to a large hut in a tree with a spirally rope ladder up to it. "He's up there. Go on up."

Reyn let Apoxi lead him to the habitats, though he kept very quiet on the way there.
"Kay..." the boy nodded, heading to the rope ladder. Grabbing onto it he began to climb up carefully. Despite how used to climbing the air he was, it was a little disconcerting to be up higher than he was used to standing.
Finally reaching solid (sort of) ground Reyn looked around. "Hello?"
