Character Name: Tandrayne
Age: 16
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Craft/Rank: Baker/Apprentice
History: Born and raised in the Weyr , Tandrayne never knew her mother. When she pestered her Father, who had an unusually good memory, the only information she received was that she had her looks and temperament. Later on, she was told that her mother rode either a Black or Silver. The story always seemed to change with her father and as much as she pestered, that was the end of the information she was given. As he was one who worked in the kitchens, Tandrayne often found herself wandering the beaches as a young girl and watching the dragons and their riders up in the air and on the ground. When she was eight turns old she was allowed to join her father in the kitchens to watch and help with small tasks, like retrieving herbs and spices. During this her love of Bakercraft was found and when she asked to help with the dough that her father worked with, she was never denied a small piece of it to work with.
Despite this love though, she knew that one day she would want to be a Wing Rider and to be up in the sky with a dragon. However, when she expressed this wish to her father who had never Impressed, he suggested that she get a craft before she try to Impress. Taking his advice, at twelve turns Tandrayne asked her father if she could learn Bakercraft at a hall. Pleased but surprised, her father suggested to go to the Hall he went to and she took the suggestion, finding herself at a Major Hold.
Starting with others in her class, she proved herself apt at the basic chores of the apprentice, such as watching the pans and cleaning the dishes. Moving on a little more advanced than her class, she found that she excelled in creating basic breads and pastries out of dough, slightly expected from her father who was a Pastry Chef she noted later on, and she changed her instructor to a Bread Chef. Learning from someone who knew how to work something she had a natural talent for, Tandrayne found herself learning quickly. Braiding the bread was a challenge for her, along with trying to remember the grains and their mixtures but through trial and error (and immense patience from both teacher and student) she eventually got down a few braiding techniques. However, grains and their mixtures are still confusing for her, a small frustration she keeps to herself.
Description: No matter how much she tries, Tandrayne is just as average in looks as the person next to her. She is of a lean build with a strong upper body, particularly her arms, something every baker seems to develop over time. Slightly tan from days of playing outside as a child, she seems to soak up the sun every time she steps outdoors which is rare nowadays as she is often inside trying to get that braiding technique just right. Her long red hair is often put into a braid that is pinned up or put into a bun, keeping it off her neck and away from the food. Along with this, she has light blue eyes and an abundance of freckles on her face, most of which she inherited from her father who has similar eyes. More often than not she has something in her hair, be it a pin or a trinket of some sort it.
Personality: Ignoring the fact there is rarely anyone around, Tandrayne is a bit of a chatterer. Often she trades stories with a fellow apprentice in the kitchen while kneading dough, stories from their childhood or other tales that they know. However when it comes to gossip and secrets, it’s when she becomes quiet. While she isn’t one to talk it, Tandrayne does know most of what is floating around and through observation she figures out what is true and what isn’t along with what else is going on, making her someone to come to if you want information on what is currently going on in the hold or if an event is happening later on in the day. One to whistle while she works, Tandrayne is a bit more optimistic about things than others and tries to find the silver lining in everything.
However, she has earned a reputation of being one to lash out on someone when annoyed, angered, or cornered into something she doesn’t want to do. While she may seem to have a good amount of patience, it actually is a short supply that runs out quickly if you manage to annoy her on a topic she’d rather leave alone. Grudges are something she holds and while they take awhile for her to let go of, she can forgive if you give her time. Also, Tandrayne is a bit of a perfectionist, wanting everything to be near perfect or perfect and nothing less. Combine this with a poor memory and patience can wear thin very quickly.
Outside of her apprentice work, Tandrayne is naturally curious about things and questions are something she seems to never be able to stop asking. As she is currently only beginning in her craft, she hasn’t really thought about settling down with someone. Although her father hopes she shows interest in someone soon, she really hasn’t bothered to think about it. On the topic of her and thought, Tandrayne seems to lose herself in her thoughts sometimes making herself unaware of the surrounding situation. Luckily she always manages to return to the present before something goes wrong. Well, she returns most of the time.
Other: Tandrayne has tried to Impress twice before at thirteen turns and fifteen turns. She is hoping she will Impress this time, otherwise she will return to her craft.
She also loves the little fire lizards, finding them amusing to no end.
