It seems that there's been quite a bit of dumb things happening to me this week. This morning took the cake, though.
As for the rest of this week: Had a hold on my school account, because they had a piece of info in the wrong folder. One of our family friends passed away during heart surgery. Turns out a nurse gave him an ENERGY DRINK right beforehand!!!
And today: random man just e-mailed me on myspace. "Hey will you call me and talk to me while I *BEEP*" GACK?! WTH, MAN?! WTBFH?!?!?!?
So, yeah, I'm a bit ticked off at the moment. scream
Besides the latter one, don't you think it's very strange how people that are trained to their their job are suddenly doing stupid things?! I mean the fact that a nurse gave an energy drink to a man going into heart surgery just blew my mind.

*Takes a deep breath* Ok, now that I've given myself a moment, let's make this into a discussion:
1) As for people like the nurse I mentioned, should she lose her job for doing something like that? Or some sort of disciplinary action? Should seniority matter when it comes to disciplinary matters, like more leniency on people who've worked longer, even if a death is involved?
2) As for stupid people altogether, should they even be allowed to breed?! *lol, kk, not seriously, but listen to the rest* Let's say there's a guy who's committed several rapes. Should he be "neutered" to make sure that he doesn't end up bringing other rapists into the world? Or in other cases, thieves, murderers? Does genetics have an importance in whether someone is more than likely to commit a crime?! *I've read about people who thought that this should occur.*

Wow. That really bites. My week has been pretty good so far.
As for your questions. 1) When doing somethign like that, I think the nurse should be either disciplined severly or just plain fired. That is sheer stupidity right there. If it were a miscalculation in the meds or a true accident then minor disciplinary action. But seriously? I have minor medical training at best, (What I learned in anatomy and during a CPR/AED test), and I know that that's just dumb. As for seniority, I'd go along the same lines I said before. Minor mistake, slap on the wrist. Minor mistake leading to death, harder slap on the wrist. Giving someone an energy drink before heart surgury, WHAT. THE. ********.
2) I wouldn't say that. Until someone can give me solid proof that the urge to rape, pillage, and murder is in the genes then I'd say moniter them but still allow them to procreate. I'd be more concerned what the parent who is a known rapist would do to the children. (Or what a murderer would do, or what a theif would teach the child to do, etc.) That would be the only reason I can think of to just neuter them.

1) There should have been something done to this woman. Some sort of punishment. Even if she didn't get fired. Maybe she worked there for a long time, and if so, then maybe not fired. But some sort of punishment. So far nothing. That's just how suckish my local hospital is, though. stare
2) This was more out of rage, so, yeah, maybe not so severe. xp Though certainly, there's plenty of times I'd wish some of the worst stuff on people. *like the perverted internet ****wad!!!* that's probably not an excuse for this sort of thing. But I do think it's a good idea for rapists, especially for those who've been convicted several times. Especially when it deals with children. Then I'll gladly be the first one there, screaming "Snip it off!!!" Hmm, but it wouldn't really change the fact that they can still go out and commit the crimes...well, maybe a bit... Anyway, I'm a skeptic to the whole "genetics" theory on whether someone will become a thief or not. And there might actually BE a gene for it, but I think it's something that very rarely occurs, like a genetic mutation. Something that doesn't follow in families. But that's if it even exists. I think it's more with a person's environment and parental guidance that molds them.

1) Even if she has been there for a long time. That's no "amateur mistake" That is a serious error. Do you know if she'll be disciplined in any way?
2) Oh yeah, I definitely agree with you on environment and parental guidance. That's why I didn't go on the "neuter them!" side. I wouldn't take away their ability to procreate, but I would closely monitor the children if they did. If they complain about the government watching them and their children they shouldn't have committed the crimes. Tough luck. Don't rape people. That's bad.

I sincerely... doubt it. We have very dumb people in our local hospital. They told me about 8 years ago that I was going to lose my ability to walk... after only spraining my ankle. talk2hand It gets in a catch sometimes, but I move around just fine. Other stupid things at our hospital:
Another guy broke his leg: they told him he was going to die in a month.
One of the doctors was (probably still is) a drug user, and supposedly sells drugs to anyone willing to pay. He's also a huge pervert. gonk
My uncle died two years ago from cancer. He fought it over eight months. They didn't even give him one of those medical beds. He fought the entire time laying down on a beaten down sofa. Until a week before his death, when they offered him one.
My cousin's appendix busted. Got taken over there, they told him they couldn't do anything. Sent out to another one, no rooms available. Sent to Lexington, same thing. Three days later he's in Cincinatti getting treatment. Finally.
Basically, everyone knows if you're in a bad situation and you go to this local hospital, you'll be lucky to come back out better.

I know right? I'm guessing this sort of thing never happens in your local hospital, eh? It's always this one hospital, and it happens to be the only one around in Jackson. There's been tons of complaints already, but it seems like nothing happens. confused Some of my family even WORKS there, and they still get treated crappy. I just don't understand it...

The worst I can think of that I've heard of happening at my local hospitals are fromt this girl in my photo class who's been in and out of the hospital from some mysterious sickness. She had all these tests done to her at one hospital, some quite painful, while she was completely awake. Then she was trasferred to a different hospital and they were shocked by that because they put people out to do some of those procedures the original hospital did.
But I haven't heard of anything like what you've said at all. That's just insanity.
Can't the health board do something about your hospital? Or are they just ignoring it?

My guess: They're ignoring it. sweatdrop
I honestly don't know what's keeping these folks in business. As much as I love the country, it seems we get the short end of the stick in this sort of thing sweatdrop

I'm sorry to hear about your friend Black. sad
Now why in the world would she give him an "energy drink" of all things?! Seriously she really should lose her job and even her license as a nurse for mistreatment or whatever its called when you do the wrong thing during procedures!!! She's not really getting off scot-free is she?
(That's a scary through...being awake during an operation b/c the sleeping drug didn't work. *shivers*)
2) I don't think it'd be genetics for a child to turn out the same as the parents. I think it might be their 'teaching' or what they see or learn. If the kid is in proper parental care they won't turn out the same...I think. ^_^ But for the raper...have them locked up and stay there. And also neutered. Seriously. Some people are so sick. I saw that news about a few weeks back with that doctor that raped babies. Disgusting!! He's in jail now or on his way there but a guy like that should be stuck in there for life (and never have a medical license again). (Also the parents were at fault for leaving the child alone with the doctor...)

For the record, I think nothing's going to happen. sweatdrop I don't get it, either. Something should happen, but, aaaahhh, I don't know what's wrong with our hospital. I hope I never go there for an emergency... sweatdrop
... ... Woah, WHAT?! A doctor did what??? That's disgusting!!!! gonk
Since I don't know the situation for this whole doctor... actually, I'm shocked to say I've heard nothing about this story *and I'm an avid newswatcher...* I want to be there for the parents, and say that they didn't know what was going on. I mean, it's a doctor, so you should be able to trust the doctor... but, yeah, why did they leave their child, A LITTLE BABY, ALONE, WITH ANYONE!!! I'd never leave my child if he/she needed medical help... Certainly won't after this story.
Here's an interesting story, too: A dentist was charged with sexual assault on a bunch of female patients. But I honestly think it was stupid on the girls' side: to "treat" them, he would fondle their boobs. You'd think they would've realized something was wrong there?! scream It was really strange, because it turns out, doing that sort of thing with a toothache can actually WORK *so says the perv's attorney* I don't know about that rolleyes

I would have missed it too if it wasn't for others at work talking about how he's really going to get it when he goes to prison b/c even prisoners have morals since some of them in there have kids of their own. That child molesters are the lowest. ^^ I really wouldn't recommend anyone to leave their child alone. I remember wen I was smaller the doctor always had my mom accompany me and my sister. 3nodding lol The dentist thing is horrible. And the attorney said it was that doing that helps a toothache?! lol How embarrassing.

Grr..still can't find it!! What I remember is that he was caught b/c what he would do is take the kids and leave to another area or nearby room? But it must not be far from patients. The baby he was caught molesting. They heard her screaming and that's how they found him out. They also found out he did it to lots of other kids too. SO DISGUSTING! He deserves to get em cut off. It's so sad for the baby.
