RP log between nessiaing's Kairu and Keantha's Kabu

Kabu sighed softly as she stared off into the wildness that surronded the swamplands. Her babies were gone and soon Uko's little ones would leave her too. Ila was there of course but....she worried so about her babies out there in the world alone.

Kairu moved heavily through the swamp. Some time ago his friend Tahki had left, and when she came back she would no longer be Tahki, she would have her real name. Kairu sighed a little, he couldn't wait to find his real name, but that meant leaving the swamps, something he had always dreaded. But now he dreaded it even more, his mother needed him more than she ever had, after the nightmares had come to light.

The cub shook his head, he hated thinking about his father. Kairu was so worried about the things that might be inside of him because of his father, inside any of his siblings. It was hard for the cub to be in the swamps , he was ashamed and couldn't look anyone in the eye.

The dark stocky lioness shook her head at her own folly as she got to her feet. Generations of lions had gone out to find themselves and came back whole, her cubs would be no exceptions, it was just a mother's worry.

Suddenly a splash of pink caught her eye, freezing her in her steps. No...gods no he was dead he....sense returned before she could panic. It had to be one of Sem's cubs, one of -his- cubs.

Kairu came through the trees and saw the dark lioness. He froze his eyes settled on Kabu. He wasn't able to do anything the poor cub was frozen in his body, he wasn't even able to move and turn, how could he face Kabu. she had lot two members of her family and it was because of his father.

"I am sorry" he said in a quiet voice, though he knew an apology could never come close to making the things done to her better, he began to turn and leave, he didn't want to bother this lioness with his presence she had really already been through enough.

Dark violet eyes watched the young male, her thoughts carefully guarded by her neutral expression. There was no doubting who had fathered the cub, it was written of every line of his body.

"Come here child." Her voice held a slight quiver but none of the rage and hate he might expect.

Kairu eyes darted up when Kabu asked him to come to her, he didn't see an option he had to move closer, he couldn't dishonor her further by not obtaining a direct request. Kairu had a great amount of respect for Kabu, he had known her before the horrors took place here in his home, she was a good friend to his mother. He knew his mother now felt quite bad, and felt she couldn't face Kabu at all.

"Hello" Kairu offered to the lioness, he could tell from her voice that she wasn't angry with him, though there was definitely emotion behind it. Kairu felt uncomfortable in front of her, he was ashamed of his family of his heritage, the young cub could feel tears in his eyes.

One massive paw lifted his head so that he had to meet her dark fathomless eyes. There was sorrow there, anger though not at him and other emotions that the cub could not place. "Never, ever apologize for being born into something you did not ask for little one."

Kairu allowed his head to rest in the lioness giant paw, he even felt a purr escape his lips, he couldn't understand the kindness that came from this lioness, she was so kind and understanding, how was it possible after all this horrible things had happened to her.

"I am afriad." he had managed to say to her. He wasn't very good at understanding the different emotions that were in him, and it was even harder for him to vocalize those emotions to others. He worried that perhaps he really shouldn't be bothering Kabu with his worries, she really had enough on her plate. The lioness was really amazing, she had after all taken in her brother's cubs after his death. The cub shook a little thinking about the death of others, the death his father had caused.

"I know you are little one, but I do not ever want to hear you apologizing again. " She sighed softly, "Your little claws do not bear the blood of anyone child. Place the blame where it truly lays."

The little cub shook, tears spilling over his eyes. He was overwhelmed but Kabu's kindness. "You are amazing" Kairu told her. It was a huge compliment, though it was strange coming from a cub to a lioness such as herself.

"You are one of the few who would feel that way." Kairu's thoughts drifted towards the encounter that had happened with one of Kab's nephews that cub sure had no problem blaming Kairu. "What if I turn out to be like him?" Kairu managed to ask.

"Do you -want- to cause others harm?" She tilted her looking down at him with a little half smile as if she already knew the answer, perhaps she did but it was something the little boy needed to answer for himself

"NO!" Kairu gasped, he couldn't imagine ever causing harm to anyone. Not a single soul, every soul was a special one, he could feel the spirits in the swamps felt the very same way.

"I hate him from what he did, and who he was." Kairu told her, anger moving through the small cubs body.

"Yet you blame yourself for what another has done." She made it a statement, not a question reconizing a great deal of herself in the young male.

The short heavyset lioness laid down so that she was eye level with the little male. "Let me tell you a story child and afterward I want you to tell me what you thing alright?"

Kairu nodded and smiled somewhat. "Yes I promise you that I will listen." The cub smiled he liked Kabu quite a bit, and he knew that he could trust her no matter what. He settled down looking up at her ready to listen, and absorb all that he could.

"There where once two lions, a brother and a sister. They were very close as all they had in the world was each other for their father had went away before the cubs where born and their mother had died of an aweful sickness." She curled around the little boy with a gentle smile.

Kairu loved feeling the warmth of the lionesses body around him. If Kabu could be this nice to him, then maybe life wold be ok, everything would be ok. "Mmhmm" Kairu said between purrs, enjoying this one on one time with the older lioness.

"What do you think little one? Was the sister to blame for the death?"

Kairu took sometime to think about the question posed to him. He wanted to make sure he had all the facts straight. "No" he said finally, nodding his head as he said it to show how sure he was.

"The sister loved the family and was tricked into going away, she was innocent just like the poor mother and babes." Kairu's voice was passionate, he hated thinking about the deaths of others or sadness in general.

She nodded, "It took a long time for me to understand it wasn't my fault. That I hadn't killed my sister and the little ones. It was Uko who gave me that peace and understanding. And it is in her memory and honor that I give the same to you child."

She smiled down at him gently with tears in her eyes, " She would be the first to say, do not blame yourself. You and your siblings, your mother, you are all innocents in this horrible mess."

Kairu purred, Kabu had just given him the best gift in the world, "Thank you" he whispered. The cub rose to his feet. "I should go back to mother." Kairu said to Kabu. "I hope that the two of you have time to talk soon." Kairu was very mature for his age, and he knew that his mother would greatly benefit to having Kabu in her life more again.

"Tell her I welcome her when she wants to see her....I have lost my sister I would hate to lose my best friend too." She nuzzled the little male, " And remeber, even when others try to put you down to make you feel guilty, remeber that it is -not- your fault." She said it firmly willing him to believe it. He may not now...but she knew that the words would dwell in his heart and some day he would believe.

Kairu nodded before silently rising to his feet. Kairu would have to tell his mother right away. Kairu moved away from the lioness, moving a little lighter on his feet then he had before talking to her. It had been a great day and the young lion was a little more at ease, it would take awhile to return to his former self but he was now on the way thanks to Kabu.
