"Its cold!" Jarita complained in a quiet voice and a slight sniffle, her wings shuffling nervously a she paced along practically clipping the heels of Bangil just ahead. "I thought you said you remembered the way home!" She continued as she spotted a tree she was sure...just sure..that they had already passed several times.
They had been gone far longer then normal and Jarita was sure her mother must be worried by now, their early morning adventure to see some so-called 'haunted' tree Bangil had heard about had led them further and further from their normal playground and it was late into the afternoon now, the sun hanging low in the sky as dusk threatened with no familiar landmark in sight. Bangil rolled her eyes a little at Jarita's comments "it's not cold" She told her with a slight snort "thats you imagination, the sun is still up!" she continued, tossing her head in the direction of the low hanging sun - alright so it was barely up - but barely up was still up wasn't it? Of course it was. Pausing slightly as she to noticed the familiar tree she frowned slightly, brows furrowed in the effort to remember as she turned a small circle.
Crap...She had no idea where they were going, and they hadn't even been abe to find the haunted tree. How disappointing. Of course Jarita wouldn't think it was disappointing - she was more concerned with getting home and truthfully so was Bangil but she couldn't let it show or Jarita would break down entirely. Jarita might be bigger but she was far more prone to panicking about things like this then Bangil was. Nope she would have to be the strong one here.
"Maybe we should try this way..." She stated, setting off in what she thought was a new direction and trying to keep her voice strong thought she was somewhat dismayed to hear a slight waver at the end of her statement.

Dimitri frowned and huffed, staring up at the tree in annoyance. A juicy apple was hanging on a branch juuuust out of his reach, and he wanted it badly. He sighed and thought about jumping to get it, but decided against it, seeing as the last time he had tried something of the sort he'd gotten himself dirty. Looking around, Dimi spotted a long stick and made a soft, "Ah-hah!" before trotting over and picking it up. Walking back to the tree, he reared back on his hind legs and poked at the apple with the stick. It wobbled but wouldn't come off. With a huff of frustration, he threw the stick at the apple and looked away crossly. To his dismay, the stick came crashing down onto his head, followed by the apple. A soft, "Oof" followed by a grumble were Dimi's response. Then, just as he was about to pick up the apple, he heard voices through the trees, and looked around in confusion. They sounded very young... what were foals doing wandering around the forest this late in the afternoon?

"It looks just the same as every other direction!" Jarita told Bangil crossly as they headed off in this new direction - which would probably just get them even more lost, she didn't miss the slight waver in Bangil's voice either. That was worrisome - Bangil pent allot of time wandering about with her father in strange places and if she was worried then that wasn't a very good sign.
She'd only gone a few steps when she paused slightly "Wait! did you hear that?" She asked Bangil lowering her voice to a whisper as she looked around in alarm.
"Hear what?!" Bangil asked Jarite, glancing back over her shoulder at her friend with an arched brow - really Jarita could be quite a coward sometimes. Sure Bangil was worried..but she wasn't going to spend her time hearing make believe noises! "There's nothing there, you're just hearing things" She told her as she continued pushing through the brush, popping out only a few feet from the stallion.
Bangil froze, eyes slightly widened as she took in the large stallion.
"No I'm pretty sure I hear...oof...Bangil!" she snapped at her friend as she suddenly stopped and Jarita practically ran over her heels having to veer sideways and brush against a dirty gross tree trunk to avoid doing so. "Now i'm all dirt.." her voice drifted off as she looked up and caught sight of the stallion.
unlike her friend who was frozen in shock however Jarita gave a squeal of delight 'You see! I told you I heard something" She jeered at Bangil - Jarita loved being right, almost as much as she hated bing dirty.
Bounding forward she dashed up to the stallion "Look he wears a mash just like father! I'm sure he's fine" she told Bangil as she skid to a stop in front of the large beast "Right sir? I mean your a good fellow right? And you'll help us right?"

Dimitri was about to turn and walk away, not really wanting to deal with children at the moment, when suddenly something small and brown popped out from the bushes, followed by another small, black, something. He smiled and looked down, his mask completely obstructing the view of his eyes, and he replied lightheartedly to the black foal, "My goodness, you really shouldn't be so happy to see a stranger..." Dimitri sighed and shook his head. He had to be careful, less teasing than usual, because the children might not understand that he is joking around.
Pausing he tilted his head, "I'm just like your father...? How interesting...." He wondered if perhaps this masked father of hers had once been a part of Dimi's herd. Deciding it wasn't important he chuckled and continued, "And I would certainly love to help two such lovely little ladies... but, you will have to excuse me, what exactly am I helping you do?" Looking around he continued, "If you want an apple from this tree, you will really have to take the one I already got down. I would rather not experience my most recent folly again, which lead to the rather painful bump on my head..."

Jarita tipped her head slightly at the stallions words "Well...I guess I wouldn't be normally..." and she threw an accusing glance over her shoulder at Bangil "It's all Bangil's fault!" She stated as thought that should make everything clear, which of course it did not.
Turning her attention back to the stallion when he spoke again she nodded slightly "Yep..my dad wears a mask too and its gold like yours!..but it only covers one eye, he told me he lost it once before I was born and he was really upset" She continued, now that she found herself in the company of an adult she wasn't nearly as worried as she had been a few minutes ago.
Bangil snorted slighty to show just what she thought of Jarita's observations, one small hoof giving a stamp of irritation at her friend before the black filly turned her attention to the stallion again. "It wasn't my fault" She told him when Jarita had finally finished yapping. "She agreed to come and look for the haunted tree - its not like I forced her to follow me" Bangil continued in an irritated voice. "And if we'd wandered just a little bit further I bet I could have found our way home again too" She declared, though something in her voice said she might not believe that statement completely.

Dimitri turned his head towards Jarita while she was talking, and the towards Bangil while she was talking, so that both knew who he was listening to and when. Since no one could ever see his eyes, or most of his face for that matter, he tried to make it easier on young ones by making things as obvious as possible... well... at least he thought it helped. Turning he head towards Jarita he replied, shuddering at the thought, "You father lost his mask once? That must have been terrible..."
However, he chuckled at Bangil's brave demeanor and turned his head back to the brown filly, "Oh, so you do not need my help? Very well then, I am sure you are right. Feel free to wander a little longer, for you will most certainly find you way home that way..." He smirked, obviously teasing the little one. Dimitri never could help but be playful...

Jarita shrugged slightly "I guess so, he's pretty attached to it, I tried to get him to let me wear it once but he wouldn't let me" She told the black steed with a bit of a surly tone at the thought - she'd really wanted to try wearing it. She perked up "Well maybe he'll let me now, after I've been lost" Jarita was certainly not above using guilt or pity to get something she wanted, though as she eyed the black stallions mask she had to admit his was far more impressive then her fathers...and it had all those pretty sparkly bits on it. Maybe he'd let her wear his mask she thought to herself while eyeing it. Well if Bangil didn't ruin things that is and she gave her friend a dirty look as the stallion hinted at not helping them
Bangil stilled slightly as the stallion called her bluff - we she hadn't really expected that, most adults wouldn't have and she'd just been trying to be brave in front of Jarita, whose dirty look was not unnoticed "Umm...well, I'm sure it would be faster if you did help" She stated lamely in an attempt to cover her tracks "And I'm sure Jarita's mom is seriously worried by now..." She continued in an effort to secure the stallions help for sure

Dimitri noticed the look in Jarita's eye as the filly looked at his mask and he chuckled, "Well, don't look at me! You've an eye for shiny things missy... Heh, trust me, you don't want me to take off my mask..." Smirking mysteriously he leaned forward and whispered, as though telling a spooky story, "...wanna know why?" Leaning even farther forward, he whispered even more quietly, "Ok, I'll tell you why..." He looked around shiftily and then whispered, "... its 'cause my eyes can make you loose your mind..." Pausing for effect, then continuing, "... wanna know how?" A couple more moments passed, and he snapped his head up, laughing jovially, "Cause they are just so darn be-a-u-ti-ful! That's why!"
Still laughing at his joke, Dimi took a moment to remember that Bangil had said something as well. Coughing and regaining his composure, he turned to her with a knowing smile, "Well, we can't have a good Mama being worried, now can we? So then, why don't you kiddies tell me where you've been, or where you're trying to go, and I'll see what I can do to help..."

Jarita being the type of filly she was pricked her ears and leaned closer and closer to hear his whispered words, by the look on her face you would think she was about to be privy to something super secret and important...when the stallion finally divulged his 'secret' she snort and rolled her eyes with a slight giggle "your silly" she told the stallion, but then after thinking about it for a few moments brow slightly furrowed she eyed him again "Wait a minute if you had pretty eyes wouldn't you want everyone to see them?" She demanded.
"No because his eyes aren't that pretty" Bangil piped up "He's just teasing you" She continued with a slight snort, but at least he seemed to be thinking back along the lines of getting them home and she flicked her tail in thought "Well we were supposed to be going to the haunted tree..its a big gnarly looking dead tree in the middle of a clearing...but somehow we wandered off track because Jarita wouldn't cross the stream at the right place and we had to wander forever until she would and now we can't find our way to the tree...or back to the stream." She told the stallion, sh was pretty sure she could find her way home again if she found the stream crossing or the tree as they were pretty familiar to her.

Dimitri's head snapped back and he gasped, as though affronted, "Silly? You're calling me silly?! Oh... the shame..." He dropped his head and ears, putting on a grand act, "I have been labeled..." He began to trudge to the end of the clearing, to the trees, sniffling dejectedly. When he finally got to the edge, his head snapped up and looked over his shoulder at the fillies, "Well, are you ladies coming or not? I have a feeling I know which tree you're talking about, and it's in this general direction... so, off we go!" Dimi swung back forward and promptly ran into the tree in front of him, "Oh, gosh darn these trees! This happens every time!" Shaking his head after the blow, he swerved around it and continued forward...

Jarita giggled as the stallion pretended to wander off in shame, she was pretty sure he wasn't actually going to leave them here and looked to Bangil - because moon knows the brown filly sometimes took things to literally "He' just joking around" She assured her in the quiet voice before dancing off after the stallion who promptly smacked into a tree.
Must be another joke she told herself because well trees didn't move and theres no way her savior could have run into one if it wasn't on purpose! Prancing up alongside the stallion she nipped a leaf off of the cloth he wore and gamboled about in front of him. It seems she wasn't worried much at all now that they had found a rescuer, and she was getting braver, ranging further and further ahead of the stallion.
"Obviously' Bangil told Jarita as she pointed out the stallion was only teasing, sometimes Bangil wondered if her friend thought she was daft - she di the know the difference between a joke and reality you know! And she might have told Jarita that if she hadn't rushed off giggling like a well like a girl after the stallion. Bangil was utterly surprised she hadn't already started gushing about how handsome he was. Jarita had an eye for shiny things and boys after all.
Huffing slightly at her friends childish behavior Bangil lagged a bit behind. Or perhaps she was still sulking about becoming lost in the first place - she did think herself a competent adventurer in the grand scheme of things...but none of this would have happened if Jarita had just crossed the dang stream in the first place! She snorted in irritation and lagged even further behind.

Dimitri, for as light-hearted as he was, kept a careful eye on both the fillies. He smirked and replied haughtily, "Joking around? I never joke, I am always quite serious..." and with that he pulled a funny face and giggled, wondering if he was confusing the fillies completely.
The one in front of him seemed more apt to get injured by being silly, while the one behind him seemed like she could wander off in a huff if he isn't careful. Smiling to himself, he slowed down discreetly as he noticed Bangil lagging more and more. Her mind was obviously elsewhere, and seeing as she wasn't really paying attention to their surroundings, Dimitri positioned himself just right, and then began to walk in place, not moving forward but giving the appearance of it. He wondered if she would realize his proximity and swerve around him, or if her mind was so truly else where that she might run into his legs from behind... He also hoped that Jarita would play along and not call out to Bangil, which would ruin the joke.

It took a few moments for Jarita to notice the stallion had stopped moving forward and she only really noticed it because she happened to glance back over her shoulder and see he was no longer just a few pace's behind her. Somewhat confused she paused and turned about for a better look.
Ha! She knew he was a silly stallion despite his claims otherwise - what serious stallion would pretend to walk in place like that? She hoped Bangil ran into him - would serve the brown filly right for sulking the way she was - just because she'd managed to get them lost was no reason to take it out on Jarita. That was Bangil for you though - never taking responsibility for things. Well she was about to get her's and Jarita had to stifle a giggle as the brown filly drew closer and closer...
Dang that Jarita! Sometimes Bangil wasn't even sure why she was friends with the prissy winged filly - they hardly had anything in common and their tempers certainly didn't compliment one another. But there they were...unlikely friends but friends none the less.
Sighing heavily at the sufferance of being Jarita's friend - at the injustice of being escorted home by a strange stallion and the wound in her own pride Bangil didn't even notice the stallion wasn't moving until she walked straight into him. "oof!" She uttered as her long foal legs tangled up in themselves and nearly sent her sprawling. Blinking in surprise she righted herself and stared at the stallion. "What are you doing?!?" She demanded in an embarrassed tone, playing off her embarrassment with a snort of indignation.

Dimitri acted as though he were doing nothing out of the ordinary, looking around, enjoying the trees. Noticing that Jarita was now looking at his spectacle, and waiting for the outcome, Dimitri smiled slightly. They were such peculiar friends, these fillies...
As Bangil ran into him from behind, Dimitri gasped and feigned surprise, though a grin was obviously pulling at the corner of his mouth. He looked over his shoulder and down at the filly, exclaiming, "My dear child, you ran into me... Shouldn't I be asking what you are doing...?", flashing her a smile and stepping aside so that she could continue walking forward, "But just so that you don't bruise my poor self anymore, perhaps you can walk along with your darling friend? I don't know how much more battering my frail body can take!" Dimitri chuckled and waited for them to start walking again so that he could match their pace... they had much smaller strides after all...

Bangil eyed the stallion as though she was trying to figure out exactly what he'd done - because she was sure he'd done something to make her crash into him - she hadn't walked any faster after all and he'd been a goodly bit in front of her. Ears flicking with uncertainty Bangil snorted - the stallion had tricked her but she couldn't figure out exactly how. "Like I could actually hurt you" She told him because lets face it he was quite large in comparison, but she couldn't come up with much of a reason not to walk with Jarita. Though if the fillies giggling was any indication it would be an irritating time.
"Fine" She told the stallion before frowning at him once more and trotting up to join her friend who was waiting just a bit up ahead. By the look on her face she was finding the whole thing very funny which suggested she knew what had happened. "You better tell me what he did!" She whispered furiously to her friend as she joined her.
Jarita was finding the entire endeavor quite hilarious - it was even more funny because she knew Bangil couldn't figure it out. Her friend was in no way stupid but she hadn't been paying attention at all. She tried to keep a straight face as her friend joined her but dissolved into giggles again at the question before sending an imploring look towards Dimitri. should she tell her? It was kind of funny to keep her guessing! "I don't know what your talking about! You just ran right into him!" She told Bangil before flicking her tail and prancing down the trail. "How much farther to the tree?" She asked the stallion in hopes a change of topic would distract Bangil from figuring things out.
