The bus station was not a place most people "hung out". It was dirty, it was smokey and it was full of bums looking to get some candy or a smoke or some change off of anyone who passed them. People bustled around looking at schedules, bothering with the vending machine, or cussing at the service people who said their bus was delayed or claimed to be on break right when someone really needed a ticket or directions.
So why Shylock was here, stretched out on a bench, wearing little more than jeans an a scarf? Hell if he knew. The green haired preteen stared idly up at the ceiling, just listening to the music some chick sitting on the bench near him was bopping her head to, humming off key and occasionally singing along to a lyric she hadn't heard correctly but liked anyway. It was a boring day, but nice just the same. Good for observing people, or just being out of the house.

Kaleb hadn't planned on being at the bus stop. He hadn't planned on sitting by an old man with holes in his jeans and looked like he hadn't taken a bath in a month. He was waiting for his brother, Vincent. The teenager had promised Kaleb a trip to the mall after they met up at a certain meeting place. This just happened to be it.
"He's late," he muttered. Why was Vincent late? He had never been before. He saw a boy about his age from the corner of his eye and forced a smile. Just because his older brother was late didn't mean he didn't have to be friendly. He moved away from the holey old man and went over to the green haired boy.
"Hello," he said. "My name's Kaleb. What's yours?"

The preteen looked over and blinked. Who left their kid hanging around the bus station alone? "I'm Shylock. Chu doing here by yourself?"
It was a bit odd, considering Shy'd been going out alone taking buses and whatnot since he'd been a child, so why shouldn't this kid be allowed it? Well, mostly because Shy hadn't been allowed to do that, he'd just done it.
