Faris had wanted to try some new food when dinner time came around. Not only did she want to try something new but she also had a specific place where she wanted to try the new food at. There was a new 'Mexican' restaurant that had opened in the world of Gaia and though Faris and Luis had no real inkling of what a 'Mexican' was or why that was the title given to that particular group of food they were willing to try it out. At Jose's Taco Palace it was a pretty fast food set up. Go up to the counter, get your food after you order and pay, and then you sat down wherever you wished.
Luis and her daughter got their trays and moved to sit at a set of chairs that were set out for people to sit in instead of going for the booth. Booths would have been too difficult for Faris to sit in with her wings and tail. Faris un-wrapped her taco and stared at the concoction of hard shell, meat, cheese, and other tidbits and tilted her head. Luis watched her daughter curiously and waited as the young Gargoyle took a large bite.
There was an expression of uncertainty before she decided she liked it. She dropped her taco long enough to make a thumbs up motion, wiggle in her seat, and then resume eating as if nothing had happened. She stared curiously at the nachos she had ordered, would those be just as good...?
Luis was dreadfully amused.

This was boring. This was so painfully boring. Waiting was boring! Nate had decided these incredibly important details when he had to wait a whopping 5 minutes for his food! Sure his Dad said that would be fine, but Nate was on the verge of a mental melt-down from the waiting! Worming away from the booth Deet had taken his youngest child while he was distracted with a phone-call, the red-skinned boy wandered about a bit until he saw a young girl with stone wings eating food. With out second thought, the boy walked towards her.
"Hi! My name's Nate! Your wings are awesome! Can you fly!?" the boy asked bluntly.

Faris was enjoying her meal and suddenly there was a voice next to her. The stone-skinned girl uttered a small startled sound with a mouth full of food. She took a drink of her soda, swallowed her food, and then stared down at the small red white haired figure with a bit of a blink. He looked pretty neat and shiny! What was he? She had no clue but he had asked her a question. "I y'am Faris an...I don' think I canses. It'd be super awesomes though, huh?" At least she was being friendly enough.
The Satyress hid her amusement and simply ate her meal.
"Yuhhhhhh, Nate-nate? Can I poke yous?" It was an odd question but she really wanted to see what kind of skin this was! It looked absolutely fascinating.

"Nate-Nate? I like that name! It's like Nate, but like...Two times! So it's like...Better!" The boy was beaming with the newly received nick name. He held out his arm, showing that it did indeed have the texture and color of red plastic. However, and thankfully, it was thick enough so it had the same strength as normal skin.
"There you are!" The large man with cat-ears said with a disapproving frown as he found the newest member of his little family, "I told you not to leave the table, Nate!" the big man scolded, looking up at the Satyr woman and the stone-looking girl, "I'm sorry, was he bothering you?"
"Hiii Dad! I know you told me to wait, but it was boring! This is Fairs! She has wings but she can't fly, and that sucks, but she's really cool!" Nate was completely unaware he did any thing remotely wrong.

Faris and Luis both let out a laugh at that. Faris pointed at the horned woman and said, "Thats' m'momma. Her name is Luis, Nate-nate!" She said cheerfully and then stared up at the cat man as he approached them. She tilted her head side to side as he scolded his son and then said to the cat-man, "Yer a bigses one, yes!" While the boy was busy she leaned and poked at his arm to see if he felt as plastic as he looked! "Not botherin' nope!" She giggled as Nate talked to his parent.
Luis shook her head, "No sir, he ain't botherin' no one. 'E is a charmin' lad," and glanced at her daughter though she agreed that the man was rather large that didn't mean the child needed to point that out, "Min' yer manners girlie," Luis chided.
The Gargoyle started a bit and murmured a soft, "Yes ma'ams."

"Hiiiiiiiii Miss Luis! Your hair's pretty!" Nate said at Faris' mother. She was cool looking, too! Was every one around here cool looking? No, not really: A lot of them wore black and talked about a book called Twilight, and books were boring, so he didn't care about those people! He looked up at his Dad, "Dad, do you think her hair's pretty?!"
Deet let out a small chuckle at his small plastic son, "Nate, remind me to read you that book about manners again..." the cat man sighed with a smile. Ah well, he was a good kid at least...If not a little terror. Not a thing like his brother, that was sure. "Well mayhaps you're just small, eh little lady?" Deet smirked at the gargoyle girl, before turning his attention to Luis and extending a paw, "Name's Deet Horne...I own the bookshop in Durem."

Luis blinked at Nate and then smiled, "Well, thank ye, babe," she replied warmly at the compliment. What a sweet little boy! She was rather thrilled to be complimented. Her eyes flicked back up toward Deet and she lightly put her hand within his for a handshake, "Luiseach Dalziel, I own th' Blue Moose Tavern," she introduced herself more formally in return.
Faris giggled lightly, "I'll be biggerses than you one day!" She vowed as she stood up as if to compare how much bigger than her the cat-man really was so she could more accurately decide how close she was to her goal. She glanced down at Nate thoughtfully, "If not thens I'll haveses Nate-nate on m'shoulders and we'll be taller than you that wayses!" she threatened with a playful fanged grin.

"I'm charmed." Deet said with a smile, shaking the young woman's hand. She was a lovely lady, Deet thought. Maybe she wanted to get Coff-...Wait, what? Deet glanced down at his red-skinned son, raising an eye brow. Well, hopefully it was just his own machismo and not his son that made him want to possibly ask this woman out for coffee.
"Yeah! Yeah! Bigger than daddy!" Nate said happily, raising his arms in the air proudly. Deet laughed at his ill mannered son, picking him up and placing him on a shoulder.
"And yes, Miss Dalziel, your hair is indeed pretty."

"T's m'honor to meet both of ye fine gents," Luis said easily as she continued to eat for a moment hoping she wasn't being a rude. Not that she wanted to eat and run but still. It took her a couple of bites before she figured out an obvious solution, "Why don't ye both join m'daughter and I at our table, seein' as yer here alread--" Luis paused as she realized that the very sober man agreed that her hair was, indeed, pretty. She blushed very slightly and suddenly picked up her drink and focus on taking a long drink from that.
Faris giggled a bit feeling a bit jealous that Deet could lift his son up and put him on his shoulders. No one could ever lift her up like that! Oh well. She nodded in agreement about the father-and-son pair joining them and then watched her mother's odd reaction with a small tilt of her head. Huh! She never got that way when the people at the tavern complimented her. The young Gargoyle gazed up at Nate, "Is Nate-nate's favorite color red?"

Deet was in a bit of shock himself: He complimented a woman. Openly. Damn, it was almost flirtatious!...Why the hell was he flirtatious?! The large catman coughed into the side of his fist, wondering if Nate had any thing to do with this little act of...Flirtatiousness. If he was responsible for making his dad say things to pretty satyr women he was SO grounded. "A-hem, um, a-any way, sure, if we can join you that'd be, ah, lovely..."
Deet put his son down, who quickly scurried over to an empty chair, pulling himself up. Yay, he was right next to Faris! "Yeah! I love red! Hey, hey, do you like gray? Huh? Do ya?" the plastic party cup asked, not noticing that the large gray-haired werecat took a seat next to Luis. Ugh, it's like I'm a teenager again...

Luis didn't seem to sense anything out of the ordinary especially coming from the large cat-man before her. Sure he was sober and he complimented her but maybe he complimented a lot of women. She cleared her throat and nodded a bit as she let them settle into their seats. She smiled lightly, "So, that'n yer first child or y'got others?" Luis asked curiously figuring that was as good place as any to start a conversation with another person.
The Gargoyle stared at the little red boy and gave a small giggle, "I does likeses grays! I also likeses all sorta colors! Like reds an' blues an' lots'a colors!"
She didn't seem to see the need to discriminate against colors unless they look so icky that they hurt her eyes.

"Ah, well, I got another boy back home. He's a vegetarian so I figured I'd save myself a lecture and just come here with my lil' carnivore over here. So, is Faris your first, Mrs. Luis?" Deet asked, kind of hoping she'd correct him with the traiditional Oh, no, I never married, I've been waiting for a 30-something year old silver-haired catman to come and whisk me away~...Well, maybe not in so many words. Wait, what?!
"Ohhh, cool! My brother's pink but he gets mad when I call him Pinky!" Nate said, loving this conversation about colors perhaps a little too much.

Luis nodded understandingly at Deet's words and chuckled lightly as she pushed her plate away having finished for now, she might get dessert to make the stay last longer but for now she was chatting, "Mmm? She is m'only right now. I...adopted her, my ... late husband an' I never 'ad the chance to 'ave children o' our own." Luis smiled a bit sadly and shifted her shoulders before she dismissed the subject with, "Guess it t'was never meant to be, aye?"
Faris stared at Nathaniel and then giggled, a lot. This boy was very funny, "Yahs? Hee, that's silly Nate-nate~. Does you do it justs to make him angry sometimes?" The Gargoyle teased lightly.

Deet's ears flattened a little bit when Luis mentioned her late husband and how it was 'never meant to be'. He put his burrito down, no longer hungry. "Ah...I'm sorry to hear that, Miss Luis..." Deet said, a sympathetic look on his face and a sadness in his eyes, "I, um, apologize for opening any old wounds." Deet said bashfully and apologetically.
"Yepyepyep!" Nate said with a bright smile.
