I figured I should start one of these, too, though I'm not sure what I'll talk about. mrgreen
Right now I'm waiting to hear back on a big revision, waiting to see what additional changes I need to make. I'm sure there will be some, but hopefully they'll be pretty minor. Then I'll be waiting for someone else to read it, and she's pretty busy so it might take a little while. But she's doing me a huge favor by reading it, so it's all good.
That means I should be working on my new book right now, but I got so distracted by working on the old one for a month. So hopefully this week I'll get back to work on my YA.
My birthday is on Wednesday, so that's the last day I get to slack off on this. Starting Thursday, it's back to work. scream

Yep, that's what I'm working on, anyway. I wouldn't say plan, exactly, since my plans in general haven't been working out as intended these days. XD
But if the current one doesn't work out, that's what the next book is for!

Thanks!
So my birthday yesterday was pretty great. My husband and parents chipped in to buy me a Nook e-reader. This is going to be awesome in so many ways, but as far as writing goes... I should be able to read my manuscripts on the Nook now instead of printing it all out! This is going to save a lot of paper and toner, and it also means I can take it with me if I go somewhere without lugging around a huge stack of paper.
Planning to figure out how to load things onto it today and put my WIP on there. biggrin

Ugh, still slacking on getting back to my YA book. But things keep distracting me right now and making me anxious. I'm determined to at least read through what I have done by the end of tomorrow so I can start thinking about it again.

Happy Birthday (even when I'm late with it)
While I'm a great fan of distractions in general, distractions that make you anxious are just evil. Here's hoping that you get distracted with sparkly things instead.

Reading over the beginning of my YA fantasy WIP. I read it several times a month or two ago, but it's amazing how much it helps to have a bit of distance. I'm agreeing with suggestions to remove lines that I thought were okay before, and I'm making a bunch of small changes. This means I'll be doing more revising than I'd hoped (this was meant to just get me caught up on what I was doing), but overall it will be better for it, and I might as well do it now as later.

Amazing how ignoring something for a time can open your eyes to things you have not noticed before, yes?
I also find it is easier to trim things that do not need to be there. Plus, you can always save those lines in another document and pull them out if you can find a more appropriate place for them.

I always save large cuts in another file, but I don't think I've ever actually gone back to use any of it... guess it was cut for a good reason. XD

I save any good stuff I have to cut, and I have been able to use some things at a later time, even if it was a completely different story with completely different circumstances with completely different characters.

Yep, always nice if you can reuse something good.
Yesterday I didn't get a lot done. Read over a few pages and stalled on some dialogue I wanted to rework. Decided to sleep on it, and of course had an idea just when I was about to fall asleep. My husband got up to get me a notebook. mrgreen I took a quick note about how I wanted to structure the conversation, so hopefully I can keep moving today.

He's a writer, too, so he knows how it is. But I do plan on keeping him. xd
So my entry for today:
gonk gonk gonk gonk crying sweatdrop sad evil
Plz read as: I have just decided to throw out nearly everything I have for my WIP and start from scratch.
Yep, lost about 15k today. But it's okay, because I have 3 pages of notes on how to make it EVEN MORE AWESOME on the next try. Still, it's going to take me a day or two to decide how I want to start. Feels like time wasted, but I know it really isn't. What I had done wasn't bad, but I think it will be much cooler now, and the main character will be better.
