“I’ll be back here at five, you stay safe mister. All right?” Ophelia called after Pilot as he slowly walked away from the car which she had pulled out in front of the local Arcade. After much pleading, wheedling, puppy dog eyes and pointing out that he could produce the same shock as a taser Pilot had managed to convince Ophelia to let him play at the Arcade alone for a short period of time.
Giving her a cheerful wave Pilot just nodded his head and practically skipped to the front door, jangling from all the coins he had in his pockets. As soon as he was inside he made a beeline over to one of the ticket games, it was one that when you started it had a light that went round and round and you had to press a button to get it to stop as close to you as possible. Looking at the grand prize in the middle he felt a mischievous smirk spread across his face, technically what he was about to do was cheating.
As Ophelia had hypothesised his power had grown as he had and since getting older he’d not only found it easier to block out machines that he didn’t want to listen to but he’d also found that he could get machines to do what he wanted (most of the time), like stop at a particular spot.
Inserting his coin Pilot watched the small red light go round and round before hitting the button and with a small mental twist he watched satisfied as the light stopped at just the right spot and the machine suddenly went crazy with light and sound, declaring him the big winner and spewing out a ton of tickets.

Unlike Pilot Evari didn't have to beg to come here, in fact she had come here with Xai! They were escaping the house while Nutter napped in the middle of a bowl of cookies; Xai wanted to take the opportunity to be away from him, Evari was just along for the ride. But hey the arcade was fun! They had a dancing game that the pair was currently playing together! Unfortunately for Evari it seemed Xai was doing a lot better at it than her, the glowing girl just couldn't seem to step on the arrows at the right times. She kept wanting to do her own dance instead of going along with what the arrows wanted her to do. "Why can't I get an AA+ like Xai?" She grumbled irritably to herself when their scores came up at the end of the game. That wasn't fair! Xai got an AA+ and she got a C+! Hmph. Stupid cheating game. Xai chuckled and pat Evari's head.
"I just have more practice, Evari. You'll get it! Want to play again?" She asked with a smile, watching as Evari nodded and reached over to put in another coin until they both heard a machine nearby going crazy. The arcade was filled with a ton of noises to begin with but nothing quite like that! Evari gasped and just stared at all the tickets that were coming out of that game, abandoning Xai to run over with a small group of kids and watch the boy and the machine.
"Whoa! How did you do that?!" Evari had played this game a ton of times and she never even got anywhere near the top prize! Luckyyyyy!

Pilot struggled to gather all the tickets in his arms as a small crowd formed, smiling widely the entire time. This was the whole reason he’d want to come alone because if his Mom had been here he’d never have gotten away with what he just did, after all if you didn’t know him he was just an unusually lucky kid. When someone from the group actually talked to him instead of just mutter among themselves he was mildly surprised, but happy.
Turning to face the person he couldn’t help but pause and blink for a moment, she was quite bright. “It’s a secret!” He said in reply to her question, winking to emphasis and trying to resist the temptation to break out in laughter.

The boy's answer displeased Evari, puffing out her cheeks and pouting. She didn't like secrets. "I want lotsa tickets too!" Evari whined and stared at his armload of tickets that still seemed to be coming out. Luckyyyyy! There had to be some kind of trick to all that! There were so many things at the prize booth that she wanted that required lots of tickets! There was but one solution...
"I'm Evari. And yer playin' with me today." She stated authoritatively, her hands on her hips and her stance one that said she wasn't taking 'no' for an answer. This boy was going to play with her today and get her lots of tickets and there was no way she was letting him not do it.

If he’d been caught in this situation in any other mood Pilot may have taken a disliking to Evari but luckily he was in an incredibly agreeable mood. So instead of struggling he just shrugged his shoulders and with a small smile said, “Sure, I’m Pilot, what are we going to play next?”

Pilot was a weird name for a kid but whatever. Evari was weird too. She couldn't judge. When asked what they were playing next she paused to look around at all the games that gave tickets or prizes of some kind, spotting a nearby crane game that had a bunch of things in it. One of them on the top near the very back was a pair of goggles that lit up around the rims and flashed many different colors, the lenses themselves were colored black with rainbow X's across them. Oooh! "That! I want those goggles!"
Evari then grabbed Pilot's arm and dragged him along with her to the crane machine, putting her hands against the glass and pressing her face to it. Goggles! They were so awesome! "They're so cool! Ar'n't they?" She grinned, pushing off the machine to turn to Pilot. "'Kaykaykay! Show me how ya did it!"

Pilot looked at the goggles the girl wanted and couldn’t help but think they were very impractical but if they where what she wanted then he’d get him, it wasn’t like he’d have to wear them. “Sure, Cool.” He said uncertainly in reply to her question. When she asked him to show her how he did it he gave a nod and then slotted a coin into the machine and placed his hand on the start button, in the time he was doing those visible actions he was internally talking to the claw machine. It was a wingy old thing that complained about rust in its joints and was incredulous when he asked it if it could grab the goggles, really its claw was too delicate for that it protested, of course it changed its mind rather quickly when he offhandedly thought about sending a sizable shock through its system. Looking over to Evari once his mental argument was over (with barley any time having passed, thoughts where quick after all) he jerked his head towards the machine and said, “I don’t know how to describe how I do it, its unique to me, but I promise you if you give it a go now the claw will grab the goggles, all you got to do is get it in the right area.”

Evari either didn't notice or just didn't care about the uncertainty in Pilot's voice when he agreed the goggles she wanted were cool. She probably didn't care. If Evari thought they were cool then they were cool and everyone else was just stupid if they believed otherwise. She stood beside Pilot and just watched him touch the machine, crossing her arms and tapping her foot impatiently. One second...two seconds...three...
Well? Was he going to tell her or not?!
She blinked, looking at the machine when he started talking. What? Unique to Pilot? Rip off! That was such crap she wanted to know, darnit! That wasn't fair! It took everything Evari had not to start throwing a fit and loudly claiming injustices, instead sighing and turning to the machine. The pressed the button to turn it on while casting an uncertain glance at Pilot, standing on her tiptoes to look over the mountain of toys at her goggles. She turned the joystick this way and that, trying to guide the claw to her prize. Come ooooon she just had to have those goggles! If Pilot was lying to her he was in sooooo much trouble!

Pilot watched Evari uncertainly, for a second there it looked like she was going to throw a tantrum and he had no clue how to deal with that! When she seemed to doubt his work he pouted a bit and crossed his arms, he was good at this sort of stuff, she shouldn’t doubt him! Watching her jerkily guide the claw to the goggles he rested his hand on the side of the machine to remind it of his promise should Evari not get them. It seemed to take forever for the claw to finally get over the goggles, Pilot sighing impatiently in this time, but once they where the time limit finally reached its end and the claw dropped, grabbing onto the strap of the goggles. Success! Now all that was left was for them to stay in the claw until it reached the shoot at the front of the machine.

Annnnnd...got it! Evari grinned and giggled with excitement, bouncing from foot to foot as she started to guide the claw back to the drop so she could have her goggles. Yay! She didn't know what Pilot did but he got it to work! "Awesome!" She squealed as she pressed the release button over the shoot, letting go of the joystick to reach in and take her new goggles. These looked so cool! She put them on and left them around her neck for now, she could wear them on her eyes or her head later! But that took too much work. The point was that the goggles had been acquired and now she had to decide if she still required Pilot's services. Was the boy still useful to her? Hmm...well...maybe. Yeah, sure. He could stay with her still.
"You pick the next game!" Evari grinned, looking around. What could they play next? There were so many options! Oh, but maybe he wanted to have his tickets counted so he didn't have to carry them around. Oops. She blinked and changed her search to one of those ticket counter things that ate up your tickets and then spit out a piece of paper that told you how many you'd just fed it, pointing at the machine when she found it. "Lessgo there first. You've gottalotta tickets." Boy did he ever! Lucky!

When Evari put the goggles around her neck Pilot gave her a smile, “Good choice, those goggles suit you!”. When she asked him to pick the next game he let his eyes wonder round, there were a lot of choices.
Ski ball? Na. Dunkin Balls? Hmm, probably not. Stacker? No that was way to suspicious, nobody won that game ever.
His thoughts where interrupted when Evari pointed out the ticket counter to him. That was actually a good idea; he’d been worried that he might lose some of the tickets. Walking over with her to the machine he started feeding the tickets. He waited patiently for the machine to finish eating his tickets, it took a LONG time. Finally it finished and spat out the piece of paper. His eyebrows shot up when he read the figure and he let out a low whistle, 798 tickets. He turned to Evari to share the ticket with her so she could see and when he did a brightly flashing display caught his attention, that would be perfect.
“How about DDR?” he said referring back to her telling him to pick the next game.

"Of course they do!" Evari stated proudly. If they didn't suit her then why would she get them? Silly, Pilot! Stating the obvious like that. Her gaze followed his own wandering one all around the arcade, looking pretty interested in a few of them. Ski ball? Throwing balls? That looked fun! The Dunking didn't look too interesting...the heck was that stacking game? That looked lame. But she followed him to the ticket counting machine and watched him feed it his tickets with a sound of awe. Whoooooa, awesome! Her eyes widened at the number on the paper and she snatched the paper away from Pilot to just stare at it; Evari wasn't stealing it, she was just in utter disbelief. Whoa! No way! He got that many tickets just from one game?! Luckyyyyyy! Now she wanted more tickets!
...More tickets could wait! He had just said the three magic words: How about DDR. Evari lifted her head to look at the now clear DDR platform, holding her hand out for Pilot to take his ticket back. "Best idea ever~!" She approved! Grabbing his arm, Evari quickly dragged Pilot to the DDR game and pushed past a couple kids who looked like they were going to beat her there if she didn't do that. This game was theirs! They saw it first! Evari stepped up onto the player 1 side of the platform, letting go of Pilot as she did so he could sit on the player 2 side. "Have ya ever played before?" It would be fun regardless of if Pilot was new at this or not, it just would help her decide what level to play on.

Pilot just gave a wiry smile at Evari after her comment; she was one girl that knew exactly what she wanted. Watching her stare in disbelief at the slip of paper he couldn’t suppress a slight smirk of satisfaction, who was awesome? Pilot that’s who.
The smirk threatened to widen at Evari’s proclamation of best idea ever. Pilot jogged slightly to keep up and helped move the other kids from out of their way. Stepping up to the player two side he answered with a shrug, “One or two time before.”

Ooh so he had played...alright then! They'd do...normal difficulty. Evari stepped on a few arrows to get the level they wanted, and to select the two player mode. She then took it upon herself to pick their song, grinning at Pilot and giving him a thumb's up. "Good luck~!" She was still fairly new at this game, so it wasn't like anyone had an advantage over the other! Though if Pilot cheated then maybe he would.
That thought did in fact cross her mind! Before the song started Evari eyed him suspiciously. "...You can't cheat." She told him very seriously, like this was a matter of life or death. No cheating! This game they were going to play had three rounds, each one graded by a letter grading system. The one with the higher rank was the winner of the round. The song started and Evari grinned, quick to follow along with the arrows as best as she could.

Pilot was quite happy to let Evari do all the set up whilst he reacquainted himself with the controls, giving test jumps to see how far everything was and to stretch his legs. When She wished him luck he returned the sentiment, excitement gleaming in his eye.
He’d just finished his little warm when she told him that he couldn’t cheat, it hadn’t even entered his mind, this was a game of skill and it would be unfair on Evari to cheat! “Don’t worry, I wouldn’t cheat on something like this!” he said quickly to reassure her. Then the first round started and all his concentration was on the screen and the arrows that slid up the screen. Falling into a rhythm the three rounds seemed to fly as he had moments of great combinations and awful misses. When it ended he glanced at Evari with a wide grin before looking transfixed at the screen to see who had won.
