Two more days. Two more days. Two more days and then she could go find the people who had hurt her Princess. She could see the Princess with her own eyes and fend off that nightmare. The Princess needed her, no matter what the Captain said; she was confident that no one could defend the Princess as well as she could. It was true; for a minute she could completely protect the Princess, perfectly, without fail. She thought that maybe, someday, she could do more, but.

She had to prevent that nightmare. The Princess with blood bubbling at the corner of her lips. The Princess, a hole carved in her chest the size of Virgo's hands put together. The Princess... leaving.

Virgo could not take the Princess leaving.

Her dreams had been terrible. It was for this reason that she was dozing in her bed, her laptop open and untouched on her lap. When someone knocked, she said, voice muzzy through sleep: "Come in."

She assumed it was a nurse.

She assumed it was a nurse, but it was not.

Who entered her room first was not Serenade, in actual fact, but a huge teddy bear the girl was struggling with. Flora had apologized for not helping her; she had dance practice, but assured her that Elke would indeed like the gift. Who didn't like stuffed toys? Flora had said logically, when they bought the bear and customized it by stitching the Virgo sign on its belly.

'It's the thought that counts.' Flora had also said, and Serenade agreed.

And so, it was the white teddy bear that made its way right over to Elke's bed, and the girl behind it gave a small sigh as she set it down on the bed, smiling at the bluenette. "It was Flora's idea, honestly."

That sigh was a familiar sigh. It was a sigh that Elke would have recognized anywhere, and she opened her green eyes to stare at the Princess. "Serenade!" Perhaps it was telling that her eyes didn't stray to the teddy bear, just straight to the pink eyes of her roommate. "Serenade--you came!"

She scrambled forward; she had her pajamas now, familiar blue ones, since she was well enough to do her own bandages and had politely asked to be let out of a hospital gown. The teddy bear gave her a pause, her smile brightening for a moment before catching the Zodiac sign for Virgo on it. Her look to Serenade was, then, terribly guilty. "Princess--I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to, please forgive me, I didn't mean to leave you--" Elke threw her arms around the other girl, clinging tightly. Stretched out like that, the healing wounds hurt, but--forgiveness was more important than superficial pain. "I failed you, I'm sorry!"

Probably the Princess did not think that the bear would make her feel bad. But Elke had always thought that it was her duty to the Princess to be there and protect her but--"Thank you for the bear," she said after a moment. "I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault." Serenade said, unsurprised; she had always assumed that Hero had told all the Zodiacs about the matter, and still did. "Hero and Andeon were there, and they couldn't stop them either." Actually, it was lucky that Virgo wasn't there; what if she had used her powers on her? Would he have ripped out Virgo's starseed instead?

At least she was still alive, really.

"Are you okay?" She asked, patting Elke on the back. "I... I'm sorry I didn't come sooner." And there it was, embarrassment at her actions in the previous few days, although Serenade tried her best to hide it.

"No, Princess, don't be sorry!" Elke patted her friend's shoulders, stared at her face like she was looking for the stamp of the devil, or strange silvery reflections in the back of Serenade's pink eyes. "You shouldn't be sorry for anything, Serenade."

She brushed the other girl's hair back, settled back onto her bed with great reluctance; then she scooted over and moved to pull the Princess on the bed. "I'm okay! I'll be fine, they're just keeping me here 'cause they're jerks." Burying her face in the white teddy bear, she puffed out her cheeks, and then let the breath out. Breathe in, out.

The teddy bear smelled like pixy stix.

Elke smiled and patted the teddy bear's head. "Are you okay, Serenade?"

Elke's insistence did not alleviate that feeling that 'She Had Failed'. That feeling of guilt had been horrible, had been so bad that it resulted in lock ups in her dorm room, and although it wasn't as serious as before, that feeling still lingered. It was her fault, and nothing anyone could say could make her think otherwise.

"You need more rest." She said lightly, then looked away at the question, not knowing how to answer. "I'm... alright now. Really."

Elke was not convinced by Serenade's assurance, and pulled her closer for a hug. "I've been resting, for weeks and weeks and weeks," she complained. In fact it had only been a week and a half, but--her smile faltered, and she looked vaguely guilty.

"Here, Princess," said Elke, letting go; "Let me--" She settled and took to french-braiding Serenade's hair, apparently just for something to do. "How has school been going? Do you think Mlle du Prix misses me much?"

Easy talk! Just normal not-senshi things. It would help, she hoped.

"It's boring huh?" Serenade asked, looking mildly distressed. Perhaps she should have come earlier and given Elke some company or something to do, but Serenade was pretty hopeless at amusing people. She was always the quiet one.

"It's been fine." She told Elke, preferring not to mention that she had to catch up on classes when she had missed a few days of school when all she had been doing was staying buried under her bedsheets. Being totally stupid, in short. "I think she would? I'm not exactly sure. You'll get back in class soon enough."

She shrugged, then smiled. "Two more days! Then I'll be out." And she stared down at the green hair in her fingers, tugged the braid a little tighter. "Plus, Scylla comes to see me every night. I saw Cas, too! And Simon. Grayson hasn't come to see me but the Captain did..."

Elke looked around for a hair tie; what she found was a blue ribbon, and she used that to secure her hard work in the Princess's hair. "It's all okay, Princess," sighed the bluenette. "The first thing I do is going to be re-dying my hair." It would be blue again. She didn't want to have to wait out her red hair's return, or to bleach her hair.

"You look tired, though, Princess... have you been sleeping okay?"
PostPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 8:54 pm

"That's nice." Serenade said quietly, staring in the distance as Elke braided her hair. She perhaps didn't know some of the names, and that only made her think that she didn't talk enough to her Zodiacs, even her own roommate, to know which Moon Senshi she had been allying herself with.

"I've... been trying to sleep." She said vaguely. "It's hard to though." Afraid the nightmares would come back, afraid that Ally would have asked Helios for another visit and she didn't know if she could face him...

Ah, nightmares. Or insomnia. Elke had been having nightmares a lot, and she hugged the Princess a little closer. She could not even imagine what someone like the Princess would be scared of--couldn't imagine her friend even needing to be scared. There was Elke to look out for her, after all!

"It's all right," she said, "We'll protect you from whatever is making it hard. Even Zue."

Elke did not think highly of Sue/Zue.

She tilted her head a little. "How is everyone, anyway?"

"Zue?" Serenade's brow furrowed in puzzlement. "He's alright. He told me to come here." Serenade, on the other hand, thought highly about lots of people, even Zue, because he was always her guardian cat whom she loved.

"Hero's... pacing, I guess." She said with a sigh. It was hard not to imagine her Captain not pacing about in her room, thinking up a solution to this mess she had gotten them all into. "I guess the others are worried too." How could they not?
