The hatchings that morning had seemed to exhaust little Rin, who walked up the road alongside her new companion, Jenith. Exhausted though she was, she was still excited! She wasn't sure how her parents would react, but it wasn't like they could tear them apart! Nuh-uh! No way! Rin looked over at Jenith just as the young Dragon looked over at her and the two shared a smile...well, it seemed at least that Jenith was smiling.
Rinmine, I am excited, but also scared.
"Don't worry too much, Jenith! Daddy can seem like a really mean, gruff man, but he's not too bad. Momma's really nice too. I'm sure she'll love you just as much as I do!" Rin said optimistically.
Okay..But Rinmine's father sounds like he could use a lesson in manners Jenith made a face.
Rin just laughed, "We've tried! Both Momma and I have tried." Rin's daddy was just very set in his ways....
They could see the farmhouse now, and as they came into view the door opened, and there stood a very tan man with sandy hair and gray-speckled facial hair. His clothes were dirty, and he wore a very flimsy, worn, hat. He seemed to be whipping his hands on a towl which he tossed aside when he saw Rinee walking with... 'Awww, damn that girl!'
"What 'at chu got dere wit ya, girl?"
Rin smiled brightly at her father, and the two companions ran up to him. "Daddy, this is Jenith! Jenith, this is my daddy! Say 'hello'!"
Jenith stood there looking at the gruff man. He had a heavy accent, and his actions were very rough - not very polished at all! He was definitely a farmer... "Hello."
Rinee's father took off his hat and with a heavy sigh ran a hand through his short, frazzled, hair. "Rinee, y'aint bringgin that thing in the house."
Jenith wore an affronted look. Thing? Rin put a hand on her upset companion, and started to say something, when;
"I can't tare ye apart, so I suggest y' start moving your stuff in the barn. I expect y' to do double the work tomorrow since you won't be gettin' anything done t'day."
And with that he walked past them and back out into the fields.
Rinmine, I am now absolutely certain that your father could use a lesson in manners. How dare he make mine move into the barn!
"It's okay, Jenith! We'll both be able to fit in the barn for way longer than you could have fit in the house! It's not so bad!" Though she had to agree,..that was really mean of Daddy,... "So, you up for helping me take my things to the barn?"
Jenith nodded. Somehow Rin's outlook on this cheered her from her initial dislike of the crude man...
((anyone can drop on by whle their moving things from the house to the barn. XD Whoo, moving party? XD ))

Look mine, there is Jenith and Hers.
R'ken looked up from the hinge he was working on in the back of the smithy, squinting into the distance. Though he could barely see her, he was assured by his brown dragon that there really was a little green and her rider in the distance. "She Impressed after I Impressed you. I don't think I got a chance to meet her. She was young too, wasn't she?"
The brown lifted his head and paused thoughtfully. In human years she would be considered young. In dragons years, she would be considered quite mature. Which do you prefer?
"Which do I.... oh, human years. Because we're dealing with humans. Jeeze, Bisoit, don't mess around with me like that." R'ken frowned a little and gave the dragon a small nudge. Honestly. Why would you just a human by dragon years? That just didn't make any sense.
I was not 'messing around' with you Mine. I was merely offering you two different approaches to- ah, Mine, they are talking with a man. Bisoitcoth sat up slowly, a bit of white making its way into his swirling blue eyes. I think we should make sure they're alright. He didn't leave much time for his rider to agree or disagree, already making his way across the fields towards Rinee and Jenith. By the time he got there, the girl's father was already gone, but that didn't stop him from peering around carefully to ensure that he wasn't about to come back.
Good day, Jenith and Jenith's. You two are being safe, aren't you?
R'ken came jogging up behind his dragon, still wearing his smith apron. "Ah, sorry for the intrusion, miss. He's a bit of a worry wart." He flashed Rinee a holey smile.

Rin and Jenith were having further conversation - the former reassuring the later that the barn would be a safe place to call their own - when Rin absolutely gleed at the approach of another.
"Hello!" The little girl said with a bright smile, "Yes! Safe as always, ummm.." Hey, come to think of it, Rin didn't know the names of either this dragon or its rider... Bisoitcoth. Jenith supplied. Yes, we are quite safe. Mine's father is simply not a very polite man...
AH, then followed the brown's rider! Rin was quite sure she should know the guy(seeing as it WAS a small world here in Ghenza), but as it was, she didn't have the best memory around. In fact, her memory had often been compared to that of a herdbeast or fish. "Oh, it's no intrusion at all!" Rin assured, offering the same bright smile as she had to the young dragon.
Jenith was content to stand there quietly and observe. It was a good way to learn after all! The green was pleased to see that Rin seemed to mind her manners. Of course she did! It was one of the factors that had impressed her after all!

Ara had not attended the hatching, being occupied with the somewhat more important task of making sure people would be fed. That didn't mean that she didn't care about the outcome, however. Her mother had been there with Brisk, and they had reported back on the happenings with some disapproval. Entirely too many good Ghenzan dragons went to outsiders, she'd reported, and then she went on to suggest that Ara should congratulate the new Ghenzan dragonriders. Ara knew most of them by sight, anyway, and so she agreed, setting out with a rather cheerful spring in her step. Hatchings were always pleasant things, even when some dragons went between.
She consulted her mental list of new dragonriders as she walked and decided to visit the youngest human, first. Rinee. She shook her head, thinking how much the girl would have to adjust to having a dragon. And a green one at that. She hoped the riders of the first few dragons to fly Rinee's new dragon - Jenith? - would be gentle. But those were hardly the sort of thoughts a person should have when greeting another person, she reminded herself firmly and pushed them from her mind. Besides, it was none of her business.
When she arrived at Rin's family home she was a little surprised to see that another of the newly-Impressed was also there, and that they seemed to be moving items about. She slowed her pace as she drew closer until she was quite certain she could be seen. At that point, she waved to catch the dragonriders' attention, thinking to herself that she was here hitting two wherries with one stone.
She couldn't tell at this distance who the other dragonrider was, but she thought his dragon might be a brown. So...maybe Rasken? What honorific would he have taken? She wished her mother had told her these things before sending her out. Probably she would have if she'd known, Ara reminded herself. It wasn't as though everyone knew right away how they'd shorten their names. She hesitated before drawing any nearer, not wanting to interrupt their conversation with something as relatively trivial as congratulations.

Ara was an easy name to remember, though it took Rin some fumbling about in her mind to remember it.
Don't worry mine, if you forget, I will help you remember. Jenith offered.
Rin gave a mental 'thank you' to Jenith, before waving Ara over; "Hello Ara!" the more the merrier! Rin couldn't help but wonder what all the older riders who had impressed today would think of a little girl like her learning along side them. Rin had always tried to be a very helpful, although her memory issues were an irritation to some. However now she had Jenith! They might be small, but Rin was sure one day they could become something great.
Your confidence is pleasantly reassuring, mine. Jenith said to only Rin warmly. Jenith watched this new arrival curiously, while also keeping an eye on Bisoitcoth and his. So many here to learn from!

That is unfortunate, Jenith. Should I have a word with him perhaps?. Bisoitcoth tipped his head to stare at the family house, silently weighing the pros and cons of such a discussion. Would her father take him seriously? It was hard to know for sure. Still, it may be worth it to avoid future confrontations.
R'ken reached out a hand to gently stroke his dragon's head knobs, quietly amused. "I don't think you need to talk to him. I'm sure miss uh…." Oops, what was her name? He knew the face but the name just wasn't sticking. Shards. "The miss certainly seems like she can handle herself. She did, after all, manage to Impress a dragon." It was obvious by the tone of his voice that he thought very highly of that.
The brown, however, merely shuffled his wings. I am simply looking out for others. You should learn their names, since you cannot call her Jenith's or Miss forever.
Blinking owlishly at his dragon, Bisoitcoth's words caught up to him and he grinned sheepishly. "I'm sorry, I've forgotten my manners. I'm Raske-er R'ken now I suppose. And this is Bisoitcoth." He gave the brown another fond pat.
Another girl joined their little gathering and the smith stood up straighter, glad that at least the little greenrider knew the name of the newest arrival. And what a nice, easy name it was to. "Good day Ara! Are you looking for someone?"

Thank you, though I do not believe that necessary yet. I think he has yet to get used to the idea. The idea of many things...a dragon in the family, his little girl being a potential dragon rider and all that that entails, everything. Still, Hers was there to assure Jenith that all would be alright.
The little girl gave a small giggle, "Don't worry! I forget things all the time! You may call me Rin! It's a pleasure to meet you both." And then attention turned to Ara.

Although Ara was an unwitting pushover and also too polite most of the time, she did not generally consider twelve year old girls deserving of the same sort of painful good manners she tended to use with people around her own age and adults. Usually. However, there was also the manner of Rasken, who had introduced himself as R'ken, and she felt compelled to be polite to him. He was close to her age and a dragonrider.
"I'm sorry to have interrupted," she said as she joined the pair and their dragons. "I thought it might be nice to congratulate the newest dragonriders - and dragons - on their Impression."
"Congratulations to all four of you," she said, glancing quickly at the pair of dragons. As silly as it might sound, Rin's young green reminded her a little too much of her mother's wher and she found herself wanting to edge away, which she couldn't do, of course, but she did keep glancing at her. She smiled at Rin, who was more familiar to her, and then more shyly at R'ken.
"I'm Ara, as I think you heard," she said to R'ken. "I'm afraid I didn't catch either of your dragons' names. Would you mind repeating them for me?"

Bisoitcoth gave a small nod. Very well then. You should let me know if there is any trouble. I would be happy to plead your case to this man. Still, Jenith did not seem particularly bothered by her rider's father, which meant the brown could relax once again.
"Miss Rin then. The pleasure is all mine!" R'ken inclined his head in greeting. Some may have found it odd that a man his age was referring to a girl so young as 'miss', but the brownrider believed very strongly in manners, especially when it came to ladies. There was no such thing as being too polite, after all. "Oh it's no trouble. The more the merrier." Ara received the same smile as the brownrider aligned his body so that she could be included in their little circle.
"And thank you for your congratulations! I hope to live up to expectations." Nodding at her question, he gestured to his brown and said, "Bisoitcoth."
Pleasure, the brown echoed politely.

Ara smiled a very small smile when R'ken mentioned that she was welcome. It was a good thing to know, she always felt, where one stood. Definite things like invitations were nice, and in events when one was uninvited it was best to receive confirmation that one's presence was actually welcomed. She would hate to impose on anyone and thereby create an awkward situation where they wanted her to leave but couldn't think how to say so politely. She was reasonably certain that very few people felt that way about her, but every so often the thought crossed her mind.
"I'm pleased to meet you, too, Bisoitcoth," Ara said formally. "How are you liking being hatched and Impressed so far?"
"Then she turned her attention to R'ken and said just as formally, "I have no doubt you will do very well."
With a quick smile she clasped her hands in front of her and waited for Rin to introduce her dragon. That had been an idiotic question to ask Biscoitcoth, but it was too late to retract it. Inwardly she cursed her mother for not telling her any of the details of the hatching, like the dragons' names. Her mother had Brisk, and that was good enough for her, but sometimes that meant that she tended to take a very unimpressed view of dragons. After all, it wasn't as though the dragons had been truly necessary for some time now. Or so her mother said. Ara thought they were beautiful creatures.
