 Nanaki sat quietly, casting his gaze around the place he had called home for almost a week now. Though he had his body under control his eyes shined with excitement and anticipation. Today was the big day. Today, he and Yury would set out on their adventure to find the beach.
He had spent the past three days speaking with any Shakaiyo he could find and trying to gather as much detail as possible about the location and distance of the beach. After many fruitless conversations he had finally found a pair who said they had used to live there, it was where they had been born, and they had been able to give him all the information he needed to correctly navigate the little expedition that he and Yury were about to embark on.
As the warm breeze gently ruffled his fur he waited for Yury to arrive while he carefully planned their first day of travel in his mind. He knew Yury wasn't used to such expeditions and that she would not have the endurance he did and he took that into consideration, planning plenty of rest breaks. He also planned to travel at night once they got further into the desert where there wasn't as much cover. Hopefully all of his planning would help make the experience enjoyable for Yury.

 Yury was really excited to go off on an adventure with Nanaki. she knew it was going to be very tiring and she was really nervous about it. But with Nanaki travailing with her she let all the worries roll off of her. She wanted to know why Nabaki loved this so much, what was so great about? The only way to find these answers where to experience them herself, and so she plans to. Plus she really wanted to go swimming in the beach. "We all set?" She ask as the wind blew in her fur.

Nanaki turned his head at the sound of approaching footsteps and rose to his paws when he saw that it was Yury. "I'm ready if you are." he said with a grin as he once more went over his plan for the day in his mind as if he was afraid he'd forget something.
"I think we should fill up on water before we head out though... we'll be following a river but who knows if we will be able to get to it, it might be in a canyon or something." he stated as he headed over to the Oasis and began to drink. Even once his thirst was satisfied he kept drinking until his stomach felt like a giant water balloon.
Lifting his head he looked over at Yury. "Ok, when you're ready we can leave."

"that is true" she said as Yury started to drink the water until she couldn't anymore. "Oh, Nanaki look what i found" she said as she pushed two halo coconuts with a vine growing threw it them. "I thought we can use this to but water in then tie it to one of us?" She spoke smugly as her dipped the coconuts in the Oasis's water.

Nanaki watched as the clever little female dipped the coconuts into the water. They would be highly effective if they could manage to carry them without all the water splashing out. After thinking for a few moments he poked at the vine with his nose, slowly slipping it up and over his head to rest across his shoulders. As he stood the coconuts came to rest against his sides right above his knees. "I think I can carry them like this without losing too much of the water. Brilliant idea Yury!" he praised her.
In the time Nanaki had spent with Yury he had learned that she was very shy and reserved and he was hoping to change that about her and bring her out of her self-protective shell. After looking around and walking a bit to make sure the coconuts wouldn't slide off he looked at her over his shoulder and flicked his tail, motioning for her to follow him as he set off towards the river.

Yury wagged her tail happily as she fallowed Nanaki. She had a big smile an her face from being praised by him. She thought he would be happy about it and it made her happier to have pleased him. She knew Nanaki was more of a wild spirit and loved adventures. He was active and seemed to fear nothing, also he is very kind and had a gentle side to him. Yury admired all this things about him and wish she could someday share them with him. Nanaki seemed be the complete opposite of her but Yury liked that idea. "So how much ground are we covering today, Nanaki?" she ask as she walked right next to him.

As Yury caught up to him and began to talk he smiled, glad to have company on one of his adventures for the first time in quite a while.
"Well... I was told that the Nazir River is only about 3 miles away. Since it's still early and hasn't gotten too hot yet I thought we'd get to the river and try to find shelter for the day, then keep travelling after sundown when it's cooler." he hoped that he didn't sound too bossy, in his tribe back home he had often been told he was too controlling for his own good and that he should let others decide things too.
"Of course, we can do whatever you like." he added quickly, after remembering all the times he'd been criticized.

"Sounds good to me" Yury said as she smiled and she trotted beside him. "and since it is a river we can feel up with some yummy fish" she added with a giggle.
"I love fish, even tho i haven't had much lately. It is the funnest when you have to chase them too." Yury licked her lips just thinking about the fish. "Hey i think we could tie a fish to the fish to the vine as well but in case we get lost.....i mean i doubt we would get lost with you leading the way though." She quickly added

Nanaki grinned at her and flicked his tail against her side as she quickly tried to cover her comment that she apparently thought might offend him. "You like fishing do you? Well maybe you can teach me a better technique. I'm pretty good at taking down land animals but when it comes to water-bound prey I definately need work."
After walking for a while in a comfortable silence he spoke again "You know, we could always just put the fish in the water... fresh killed fish always taste better than ones that have been dead for awhile."
While they slipped into silence again his ears swiveled to pick up the sounds coming at him from all across the desert. So far nothing he heard had alarmed him and so he wasn't worried at all about the two of them making it to the river without incident.

"Me teach you?" Yury giggled at that idea " i never would be picture me teaching you something. it sounds like fun tho ]" She said as her tail wagged. Suddenly she had a picture in her head of Nanaki soakin wet all grumpy setting next to the river bank. Yury tied no to laugh but soon failed, giggling a bit loud.
"THAT IS A GREAT IDEAD" she shouted happily " we wont have to deal with the smell as well." she added. "it would of been a shame for the fish smell to cover your current smell....err it isn't like i go around sniffing you or anythign." she then quickly added " not that you smell bad to not to but ...err" She just looked away dizzy and blushing from embarrassment.

Nanaki glanced at her out of the corner of his eye as she tried to contain her laughter and he shook his head, laughing with her when she finally broke down. "It's not as though I can be good at everything you know." he grinned and continued to chuckle quietly to himself as they continued their journey.
Upon hearing her next comments Nanaki turned his head to look at her. Amusement twinkling in his eyes when she looked away from him. She was adorable when she was embarrassed. "I know what you meant Yury, you don't have to be embarrassed around me." he smiled kindly at her, hoping to show her that he was sincere.
After awhile longer of walking he figured they had covered about half the distance they needed to in order to reach the river. It was starting to get hot and though Nanaki definately enjoyed the heat even he didn't want to be out in the middle of the desert during the middle of the day when there were no clouds in sight to help keep the earth cool. "Maybe we'd better pick up the pace a bit if we don't want to become Shakaiyo crisps." he laughed but picked up his pace quite a bit, while still trying to go slow enough that the water didn't slosh out of their coconuts.

"That is a good idea, Nanaki" she said as she picked of the pace. THe hot desert sun started to take it's tole on Yury and she was starting to feel a bit dizzy. She didn't want Nanaki to find out tho she she kept acting like nothing was wrong. Suddenly Yury tripped over her own paw and landed face fist in the sand. The sand burned as her body laid against it. " Stupid rock " Yury grumbled trying to hold back her tears from the pain. She also hoped that Nanaki wouldn't notice there was no rock near her.

Nanaki found it odd that Yury wasn't talking anymore and when he looked over he saw that she wasn't looking so great. He thought about asking her if she wanted to take a break but he didn't want her to get upset with him or mad and assume that he thought she was weak. Frowning in his confusion on what action to take he slowed down a little bit so it would be easier for her to keep up.
After they had walked awhile more he heard her falling behind and then the sound of a stumble and her mumbling about a rock. Turning quickly he moved back to stand beside her. Noting there was no rock in sight he stifled a sigh and nudged her shoulder with his nose. "Are you alright Yury? Here, have some water." he dipped his head so the coconuts would slide off and he managed to get them on the ground without spilling too much.
As he observed her he realized that she was in more pain than he had initially thought and he put his ears back, his tail flicking back and forth quickly from his mounting anxiety. Some leader he was, he had known she was having a rough time, he should have stopped and pretended it was for his sake rather than pressing forward. Now look at the trouble he'd caused.

Yury quickly drank the water in one of the coconuts until there wasn't even a drop left. The water seemed to flow threw out her body like a wave of refreshment. Nanaki's shadow that hovered above her provided some shade from the sun which made her feel a bit better. Yury then looked up at Nanaki seeing him all worried put a smile on her face. "I am fine... i just tripped on a rock." she paused for a moment "how far away is the river?" she asked in a wonder. she would of hated if she cost them to go off track. She then tried to stand but as soon as she did she felt a little dizzy and sat down. She knew she needed a little rest but if stayed in the sun it would do make more problems the help. So she stood back up but this time she felt less dizzy. The water seemed to help more then she first guessed.

Watching as she downed the water at a record pace Nanaki made sure he was positioned to keep the sun from shining on her directly, well, as best as he could anyway. He watched her as she tried to stand and shook his head. "I don't think you should be trying that by yourself just yet. Give it a few moments. We've only got about a half mile to go, I can hear the water."
When she sat back down he continued to watch, observing all the reactions her body was having to the water and heat. When she stood up again he grabbed at the vine holding the coconuts with his teeth an then moved to stand beside her so he could help support her weight. Slowly he started off again, letting her lean against him if she wanted too but making sure he was close enough to help support her anyway. He knew one thing, they had to get out of the sun, and they had to do it soon.
