It was spring, flowers were blooming, birds were chirping and a colt ran freely through a fresh green field. His breathing was heavy, and he ran with purpose. Fear was evident in his eyes as he slowed to glance behind himself. Crying out at what he found behind him, Alistair tried running faster but found that the shadows were gaining on him too quickly. Franticly, he searched around the field for something. "Mom?!" He cried out, just as the shadows reached out, grabbing his leg. The last thing he felt was the feeling of falling.
"Mother!" Alistair cried out, waking from his nightmare. It was still dark, the night air cool against his coat. He lay under a lone Oak tree, his sibling sleeping not too far away. Nightmares were not a common occurance for Alistair. What was the shadow that was following him? Sitting up, Alistair looked around himself, for his mother. Where was she? "Mom?" He spoke, quieting his voice, not wanting to disturb Wystan. Standing up, Alistair started off in search of Isabliss.

It was a clear cloudless night and the full moon glowed brightly in the star filled sky; the soft northern breeze blew through her long mane. Isabliss gave out a small sigh; it was time to continue wandering, she and her family had been in this place for too long. The mare’s ears perked when she heard Alistair cry out in the still air, ‘a bad dream?’ she wondered and slowly made her way to the old oak where she had left her too sleeping sons, Alistair and Wystan, to enter the land of dreams.
In the light of the moon she was able to see her son approaching in the near distance, “Alistair, honey, I am over here,” she stopped moving and waited for him to notice her. They were far enough way so their talking would not wake Wystan. The Angeni mother looked at her son, he looked so much like her, the same coloring of body and wings, his mane was the same shade of black with a navy tint.
“What is wrong, darling?”

Alistair almost spooked at the soft hum of his mother's voice calling out to him. His were still on end as he turned and started walking towards Isabliss. She blended in nicely with the dark of night, her wings being the one thing that stood out the most. They shined softly under the light of the moon and stars. Quickening his pase, Alistair made it to his mother's side before trying to settle down. "I had a bad dream," Alistair started, looking down at his hooves. "The shadows were chasing me. I- I don't know why they were, but-" Alistair closed his eye, trying to force the thoughts that scared him out of his mind. Taking a deep breath in, Alistair looked up at his mother. "Is that why you don't sleep often, mother? Are you afraid of the shadows too?"

Isabliss bent down and gave her son a calming nuzzle and looked in to his blue eyes, “It is okay honey, no shadow will get you now, the moon’s light will keep them away, and I will not let harm come to you, I promise.” He was still shaken up after his bad dream, and Isabliss felt a pain in her heart that she was not able to help her son combat the shadows that are haunting him. After what seemed like a few moments, Alistair looked at Isabliss the question he spoke was also reveled in his eyes.
“In a way yes, Alistair, I am haunted by shadows, but they are not what keep me awake. I am unable to sleep for it is just in my nature, and it seems that it has not been passed on to you, so you are able to enjoy the land of dreams.” She did not answer the last part of his question, for she was unsure of the answer, was she actually afraid? Isabliss did not believe she was, but she had not yet been faced with a situation in which to be scared of the shadows.
