It was getting late, and Selena was tired.
Flicking through her diary carefully, making sure she'd completed each of the days tasks, she used a pencil to carefully cross off the penultimate activity on the day's list. Ballet class was over, and with her rucksack containing her ballet equipment slung over her back, Selena Adams was heading back home. Or perhaps not home, as much - back to Uncle Scottie's house, her make-shift home until she was reunited with her family. Tapping the end of the pencil against her chin, Selena sighed as her eyes scanned the last job of the day. They needed more milk, and that meant a trip to the convenience store, on the other side of the estate. Without a driving licence, it was a good ten minute walk.
Best get started, then.
Tucking her pencil back into its slot, closing her diary and carefully replacing it in her bag, Selena hitched the straps further up her shoulders, hurrying down the street just as the streetlight above her flickered into light, a series of dim, yellow lights now illuminating her path. She checked her watch - 8:30pm. With any luck she could be home by nine, just in time to catch the Romeo and Juliet serial that was being shown. A sucker for romances, she never missed an episode. A Shakespeare classic, serialised into a format that was easier to understand. It was a dream come true for the teenager.
Rushing past the more dodgy side streets, Selena pulled her jacket tighter around her, regretting not changing after ballet. Her jeans and long-sleeved top were in her rucksack, the teen having decided to merely pull on some loose trackies and a jacket over her leotard and tights, meaning the harsh nighttime breezes were quickly getting through her skimpy clothing and causing her to shiver. Brrr.
"Scottie can get his own milk next time," she muttered, picking up the pace. She couldn't shake the feeling she was being watched, though...it was odd, a chill creeping up her spine that wasn't to do with the wind.

Two short ears twitched at the mention of one word.
Milk.
Someone had gotten this cat's attention! With a small stretch, a pale feline began to trot after the girl who had literally just passed the alleyway she had just been investigating for potential food scraps. Most cats seemed fluid in their movements, but this cat didn't seem remotely as elegant. It was just a bit too bouncy for your usual feline.
If this dark haired girl hadn't figured it out by now, she must have been deaf, for there was the rather distinct sound of a bell jingling with each bounce in cat's step.
It wouldn't have been too strange, if it wasn't for the strange marking on the cat's forehead. A silvery star almost seemed to glitter in the scant amount of light.
This one. Maybe this one is one of my girls? The thoughts ran through the cat's mind for a moment as she continued to bound after this girl. Of course, that thought got quickly obscured by the thought of milk. A tiny pink tongue flicked out to lick her maw as she thought about filling her tummy with the delicious stuff.
Jingle, jingle, jingle!

That was odd. A strange, tinkling sound, almost like a bell. Turning around, she found no-one behind her, but as she cast her gaze downwards Selena's dull, blue-grey eyes came to focus on a small, rather adorable little kitty. "Awwww!" were the first words that left her mouth in a small gasp, as she stopped in her tracks, bending her knees to crouch down, more to the cat's level. It didn't really have much of a tail, just a little bob, and it's lighter grey colour stood out against the dull black slabs of concrete they were walking on.
"What do you want, hmm? Are you lost?" she cooed gently, reaching out a hand a little cautiously. Not all cats were friendly, after all, but she certainly hoped this one was. It was so cute! Selena was too absorbed in the general adorableness of the small cat before her, she didn't even notice the oddities. Such as the star on the forehead. Or at least, not until it glittered. She blinked, eyebrows soon sinking into a frown as she reached, still cautiously, towards the feline's forehead, attempting to 'peel' the star off.
"Did some kids put a sticker on you? That must be uncomfortable, poor thing."

This cat seemed to almost instantly start purring the moment the sound of "Awwww!" escaped this girl's lips. Attention. This cat loved it. Where many cats would have been rather cautious at the offered hand, this pale spotted cat rather easily bounded forward, bell jingling, nuzzling her head against it affectionately.
No, ********* was far from being friendly.
Currently, the cat was in "observation mode," simply just observing the current company for any hint as to their possible talents. There was the slight temptation to reply to the question as to what ********* wanted (because the obvious answer would have been "milk"), but she simply just signaled her thoughts in a form of pantomime. Once more, a small pink tongue peeked out and licked across her maw. This meant ********* was hungry. However, the gesture probably went missed as something rather unfortunate happened.
Her forehead was attacked!!!
The cat's fur puffed up almost instantly, but the cat strangely did not try to scratch or flee the situation. No amount of pulling, peeling, or intense looking could get that star shape off of the cat's head.

Aww, such a friendly kitty!
Selena cooed gently as she ran her hand over the feline's head and down its back, before coming back up to scratch behind her ears. Cats liked it there, right? Whilst one hand was trying to comfort the cat the other was working on the star, although keen eyes had spotted the puffed up fur and she was wary once more, although the cat didn't seem to be making as if to scratch of bite her.
Trying to pick at one of the corners of the star, Selena's frown only grew deeper as it refused to budge. It was almost as if it were part of the cat, and couldn't come off. "You have a star...on your forehead." She stated the obvious, unsure of what else to do. Was it normal now? Was this a special breed perhaps, that was secretly being made and this one had escaped? She stood up to her full, looking down at the cat. She had a collar...thing on. A bell. Did that mean she belonged to someone? ...Oh, or maybe Selena could take her home! She'd always wanted a pet!
"C'mon kitty, I'll take you home," she cooed softly, reaching down to scoop ********* up.

********* was never the sort of cat who hissed. She wasn't about to start now. Instead, as the girl continued to pick at her star, she backed herself up. This did not feel good, this is what she was trying to say.
As she backed up, there was a sense in her mind that seemed to go off. Something was watching them that should not be watching them. This dark-haired girl was ignorant of this fact. She was just a human right now. Yet, the tailless feline knew there was much more than just a human in front of her. As the girl dipped down to try and pick her up, she closed her eyes, concentrating upon her true task.
This one. This one was...
Eos!
Once she was in the girl's arms, her eyes shot open. She wasn't facing the girl, but rather plainly, she spoke up in her youthful and obviously girlish voice.
"You are being watched right now... please do not freak out or you are going to draw more attention from it."
There was a small pause.
"Please put me back down so I can assist you."

The cat was backing away - perhaps it already had a hone? Or just didn't want to come with her? Persistant, Selena took a step forwards and scooped up the pale grey feline, cradling ********* in her arms, making soft, cooing noises as she reached down, attempted to rub the now-exposed belly. Cats liked that too, right?
And then...words. Which y'know, wasn't that odd, expect there was no-one around to have spoken them. No-one except the small grey cat currently in her arms. It had sounded like a small girl - a young, girlish voice. One that certainly didn't belong to a cat! Heck, what kind of voice did belong to a cat! Her mouth had involuntary fallen open a few moments ago, and after a few failed attempts to starting sentences but not really getting anywhere, she decided to just do as the cat asked and place her back on the ground.
"B-But...you're a cat!" she exclaimed, completely ignorant of the warnings that had been given. Either that, or she'd forgotten already, which was completely likely. "Cats don't...don't talk! In cartoons they do, but not in real life!?"
This was a dream. That must be it. She was dreaming.

When the cat was back on the ground, it turned to face the girl, who was obviously staring at her. Staring meant she had direct eye contact, right? Much like before, she began to speak again. Her maw was opening and closing in sink with the sound of her voice, which was only further proof that the cat had indeed been speaking to her.
"My name is *********. And you are a Sailor Senshi." There was a thoughtful pause.
"Please don't make a fuss about how this can't be real. We need to get to business before the thing watching us decides to attack. Remain calm."
Having given out her very specific directions, she rather suddenly popped up like one of those spring loaded dog toys for a back flip. It wasn't a very natural looking one, and simply just made the cat look like a toy. However, a back flip was a back flip, regardless of how silly it looked. In the space between the flip, two objects appeared with a momentary shimmer of light. Both clattered to the ground immediately in front of the spotted cat's paws.
"This one... take this one" she instructed, pointing a paw at the pen.
"With that at hand, you need to shout 'Eos Power, Make-Up!'" Another thoughtful pause. "You need to say it like you mean it, or it won't work."

It was facing her, and speaking. So this wasn't a joke. The small fluffy feline in front of her was actually speaking, her jaw moving up and down in sync with the words she was speaking. Selena blinked once, twice, as if trying to assure herself she was just seeing things. Cats couldn't talk!
Sailor Senshi? What was that? Very, very confused, even more so when the cat - no, ********* it had called itself - did a backflip. What else was this cat hiding, a nuclear weapon factory in its armpits!? Not liking being confused, Selena took a step back, to distance herself from *********, even more so when the distinct clatter of two objects sounded. She looked to the ground where they'd landed, frowning again as she looked back up at *********. Where...where had then come from!? There were only two 'holes', so to speak, in and out of that cat, and she wasn't sure she wanted to touch the objects regardless of which they came from.
That was...that was kinda gross.
"What's watching us?" she asked, this time managing to keep to hushed tones. All she'd wanted was some milk, and now she had a talking cat, some mysterious stranger, and apparently she was a Sailor Senshi. Weren't they those terrorists they were always talking about on the news. She didn't want to be a terrorist! Selena's hand almost instantly came up to her face, the girl beginning to chew very lightly on the tip of her thumb, a sign that she was stressed and confused.
********* pointed at the pen, which Selena then proceeded to stare at for several moments before reluctantly, cautiously crouching down, plucking it from the ground with her spare hand. She didn't even want to think about where this had been.
After another reluctant pause, the girl gave an experimental whisper, "...Eos Power, Make-Up?" she spoke almost questioningly, and surprisingly enough, nothing happened. "What won't work?" she whined softly, full on sucking her thumb now as she clutched the pen tightly. What was going on?
Couldn't she just go home?

The cat sighed and shook her head from side to side, causing a playful little tinkle to escape her collar's bell.
"No no no no no" she uttered softly. "You need to say it louder and with more feeling! Otherwise the monster that's been watching us this whole time is going to be able to eat your soul without even trying."
Without any hesitation, the cat bounded up to the girl and bumped her head against her leg in a friendly gesture. "I want you to be safe. Please do this just so you can at least be safe!" Whether or not Sailor Eos realized it, there was a certain urgency in the cat's voice. She really must have been serious about the whole ordeal.

Louder, more feeling? More feeling of what?! She didn't know what she was trying to do, and Selena was quickly getting more confused and more exasperated, although the mention of a monster caused her skin to pale. "Y-You...You never said it was a monster." she whispered, sudenly able to quite easily keep quiet. Probably something to do with the MONSTER that was watching them!? Why did it want to eat her soul? What was so special about her soul?
Swallowing the lump in her throat, she removed her thumb from her mouth, wiping the saliva off on her jacket. She felt a nudge on her leg and looked down to see ********* bumping her head on her leg, a strange look of urgency both in her eyes and in her voice. She thought this was real, even if Selena didn't. "O-Okay," she breathed, clutching the pen even harder (she was going to break it if she wasn't careful), closing her eyes for a few moments to compose herself before finally opening them and shouting.
"Eos Power, Make-Up!""
And boy, she sure wasn't expecting that.

The moment the dark haired girl shouted out, the cat's ears twitched and she bounced away to leave the girl some room. The girl's civilian clothing all seemed to fade, and in their place a short flowing dress adorned with a sparkling feather-like pattern. There were 5-star accents, which suited her appropriately, considering that this here before her was Sailor Eos, the Senshi of Senses. As the tailless feline watched the transformation, it seemed as if there was a small itch going off in her brain. This was not one of her girls, but there was still something about this girl.
Once the girl had finished transforming, she seemed to settle into place in front of ********* paws.
In a friendly tone, the cat mewed out "Sailor Eos. Welcome!"

Something strange happened. Something really, really strange. There was a bright, pinky-hued light, and then suddenly...her clothes had changed. She wasn't in her loose trackies and jacket hurriedly pulled over her ballet leotard. She was wearing a dress...a really quite pretty dress, with feather patterns. She was wearing what she could only think of to describe as a tiara, and there was a bow on her butt.
If anything, she hadn't been expecting this. "I...w-woa..." she stammered, unable to get any words out as she surveyed herself, gently running a finger over the star accents dangling from her collar. She wasn't Selena anymore, but at the same time she was. It was an odd feeling, but something seemed to click in her head, something that told her this was right. So right. A mew caught her attention and Selena - no, Sailor Eos - looked down at *********, managing a small, somewhat shy, yet genuine smile. "I...thank you?"
Was the monster still here? She looked around, confused. "I...*********, what do I do now?" The cat seemed to have had all the answers so far, so surely she should know now too?

********* rather honestly confessed her take of the situation. "I could probably tell you so much more if you were one of my girls. However, you are not truly one of my girls. I get this sense from you that you are still a part of the Asteroids, but you are not one of my Asteroids." There was a sigh. It wasn't a disappointed sigh, but just one of those sighs as if the cat needed a breath of air between her statements.
"However, I suggest we take care of the Youma, the monster that was watching us."
There had indeed been a Youma watching the two. It had been looking for starseeds, when a rather scrumptious one walked past the alley way it had been skulking about in. It seemed rather drawn by the movement and began to slink its way after the girl until she stopped. Youma could be rather different, like how each person had a different personality. This Youma, which managed to keep out of sight, was a rather curious one. What was this girl doing? It watched as she tended to the cat, and seemed completely oblivious to the fact there was a conversation being exchanged. All it could hear was a faint murmur instead of the voices.
The only thing that signaled something was up was when the girl began to glow in a fashion that caused this Youma to shrink back against the nearby wall. When its single eye was able to look at the girl again, it found a surprise.
Sailor Senshi.
As if spurred on by this realization, the Youma suddenly revealed itself with a deep hissing sound. It pulled itself off the ground and arched its back before attempting to strike like a cobra. In all honesty, it made sense why the creature had gone unnoticed. It just looked like a large string of garbage that formed into a 1 eyed snake creature.
The only saving grace for the two was the fact the Youma was not back attacking them. The moment the garbage snake prepared to strike, ********* shouted out her warning of "Sailor Eos, get out of the way!!" The cat, not being all that foolish, also followed her own advice by jumping out of the way.

One of her girls? But hadn't ********* done this...this tranformation, made it happen? Wasn't that enough? Asteroids, what? Asteroids were in space. The feline seemed disappointed, but Sailor Eos didn't know what to say to make her feel better. All this talk of space and magic was just getting her more and more confused. Heck, in her opinion she was doing pretty well, considering not twenty minutes ago she'd just been going to get milk. Then talking cats and shining lights and asteroids had happened.
"Youma?" she repeated, perhaps a little fearfully. Was the monster still there!? Hadn't it been...scared away by the flash of light or something? Perhaps that was too much like in the movies, and when the cat shouted out a warning Sailor Eos was only too happy to oblige, diving rather gracefully to the left, stumbling as she landed but otherwise managing to stay on her feet. She didn't even have time to object to being called Sailor Eos. Was that her name now, when she was in this...this form? Could she ever go back to being Selena?
"What do I do!?" she gasped rather desperately, looking at her hands before up at the...disgusting creature. A cat couldn't do anything, so she assumed it was her job to beat the monster. But she certainly didn't...want to touch it. Eew.
"*********, help!"
