Flits that look to Beth

Widget

This little green flit loves to spend time with Beth. She's often sitting on her shoulder or a nearby perch watching her draw. Widget is a sweet and mild-tempered flit. If you offer her a tidbit she'll take it with danity grace, but afterwards she'll expect one from Beth too.
Nickname(s): None currently

Streak

Streak is a very opinionated blue. When you do something he doesn't approve he will promptly tell you so. He is rather vocal in his disapproval. Only Beth may feed and touch him. Don't try unless your willing to loose a finger.

Journal

Notes learned from harper.
Inks come in two forms: stick inks and liquid inks.
Liquid Ink- produced by combining charcoal with gum or glues. It makes a thick black fluid perfect for drawing. Liquid inks come in two varieties, waterproofed and non-waterproofed.
Stick Ink- is produced by drying and compressing of liquid ink. This makes an easy to carry stick. To turn it back into liquid it is ground into a fine powder to which water is added.

Once you have your ink you need use something to write it with. Which is where the pen comes in.
Reed pens- made from a hollowed reed. One end is cut into a fine point then dipped into the ink to fill the "well".
Quill pens- basically the same as a reed except made from a feather. Poor bird!
Metal pens- have special metal tips that can be changed out.
Fountain pens- not exactly sure what these are. Have to find one someday.
Brush- hair bound together and dipped in ink is used to apply the ink.

I was at the booth by myself and two very nice ladies came up to talk to me. One was a dragonrider and she rode a green the other was a trader. I think I managed to get the trader interested in carrying a couple of small boxes along their route. Just like father wanted. It's a shame I couldn't go see the dragonrider's dragon. Oh, it sounded like she might want to get a special box from father so if she shows up at home I'll get to see her then.

I thought father had been gone a Really Long Time when he Finally came back. He was carrying something odd, it looked like a pot all wrapped up. What could be inside that they'd have to wrap it up? He certain looks pleased with himself and is being all mysterious.

*Squeal* I just found out that the covered pot contains two fire lizard eggs! Father traded some work for them! *Bounce Bounce* And even better is I'll be able to have one! Father or mother will have the other.

I was set to watch the pot with the flit eggs while everyone else was doing chores. At first I wasn't sure what was happening, but then I checked the pot. Shards the eggs were hatching! I ran to the door to call, and I called and called. No one responded but hopefully they heard me. I got the meat out mother had cut up for the babies and laid the eggs out on the hearth. It took awhile for the first egg to hatch and she was a little green!

I held out my hand with the meat and coaxed her over to me. She's so cute and soft! I got her sitting on my lap to feed when the second egg burst open. A little blue flopped out and still no one but me was home. He saw the little green being fed and stumbled over. I had to feed him too. He even bit me, it bleed a little but I think I'll be ok.

By the time father and mother got home, I had both of the flits curled up and sleeping in my lap. I'm calling the green Widget, and the blue Streak. Streak can be mean, and doesn't like mama or papa. Widget is super nice.
