The brown and grey mare shook out her short mane, looking around. She let out a sigh. Ootachi and Corine had both wandered off, most likely to find the newest addition, Johto. That little filly was like Ootachi, except she wasn't so naive, thankfully. Sassa wasn't worried; though Johto was Ootachi's daughter, the little blue filly had more sense than her mother ever did.

Still however, with the rest of the herd scattered and wandering the world (mostly because the rest of the herd were all related, AND all hated each other), Sassa found herself by herself more times than she would like. She had an image to up hold! She couldn't just be alone. No one would see just how awesome she was!

Years ago, the thought of being alone on a beautiful day would have driven the sun-tinted mare up the wall. And it wasn't the fact that she was alone on a sun-shinny morning that would have flown her into a fit of tears, but the fact that she was simply that....alone. Years have past since her worst days but the mare could remember them as if they were yesterday - a typical afternoon consisted of chasing every stallion in sight and practically begging them to love her the way she thought she deserved to be loved. Every single time she tried, she was denied and at first it didn't bother her, she had a whole 'ask them all one of them is bound to say yes' type attitude but after what felt like the thousandth denial Abattie began to understand that it was her. She was the problem. It was a combination of her demented, over-reactive personality and her twisted looks. So long ago....so very long ago she would have appeared as a beautiful golden mare but the wear-and-tear of sadness eventually got to her physical strength and she began to deteriorate. Her facial features took a downward shape and her body slugged forward as she walked. The once radiant, over-reactive mare had only one reaction at that time - tears. She'd cry over the silliest of things, for what seemed like the silliest of reasons.

She could remember one time, there was a butterfly zipping around her head while she tried to doze off. The 'normal' response from a soquili, she believed, would have been to either move spots or shoo the butterfly away but no....Abattie found herself bawling every emotion out of her system until the sun rose hours later. Silly reason to cry? She'd think so now!

It was all because she longed to have a lover. Someone she could walk up next to every morning and fall asleep next to every night. Someone who would tell her that he loved her for her and no one could change his opinion. She didn't care if the particular stallion was considerable evil and hated all creatures as long as he didn't hate her. A lot of what she wanted in a mate came off desperate and diluted so there was never that one stallion that stood out above the rest. Anyone who could breath and she wanted their love - on one condition. Papa had to approve of him. During these particular days her Papa was still single and so Abattie regarded herself as the most important thing in his life, and he too would have agreed. Papa wanted what was best for his golden daughter and so not just anyone would do. Attie had to find someone she knew wouldn't have a flaw to be picked on. But because of her diluted and disturbed view on certain things, what she thought was perfect she also believed her Papa would too. If the stallion ate other living creatures, that didn't really bother her and she thought it wouldn't really bother her Papa either.

But now, these past few months in the present, everything had changed - for the better. One fateful evening she met a stallion that would forever make her a better mare. Shadow. The robotic....thing without any sense of emotion what-so-ever. They became each others teacher, she with showing him how to feel and he with showing her how not to be afraid. They instantly connected on a level higher than anything she'd ever imagine and she knew that calling him her 'friend' wasn't nearly as powerful as her feelings toward him. But it wasn't love....no, for she had loved another.

....Oh....what was his name? The golden mare swallowed down a laugh as she stood at the edge of a riverbank staring down at her reflection, reminiscing about her past. That creature from the darkest parts of heaven - however big an oxymoron that was, she felt as though that was the only way to describe him. Oh how she loved him!! Oh how she would have given up her soul just to be with him! Blinded by what she thought was complete and utter bliss, she could not see what was truly there. Her best 'friend' had fallen for her and yet she did not know.

Unspeakable things happened between her and that dark stallion and after a while and she was seemingly okay with it, a few weeks of devastation, but she had Shadow. Attie was still, to this very day, unaware that Shadow and her Papa had a conversation about his love for her for Bairn had told him to lay low and let her come to him. If they were meant to be together, it would happen eventually.

But all of this was in the past. In the very, very past. Weeks, maybe months had gone by and the two of them were still just friends. They spent every waking moment together - every morning and every night they would see each other and he protected her with everything he had.

On this particular day however, Attie escaped the ever-watchful eye of her best friend just to get a day to herself. Hmm, imagine that....she wanted a day all alone.

Oh how the years have changed her.

((Sorry for the wait Summ. >< ))

She stepped lively, ears cocked for any sound what so ever, for any possible Soquili to come around her and just be struck by her awesomeness.

Okay so that was hoping for a little too much, but Sassa wasn't going to just let herself be lost in the wake of Johto's addition! More over, it seemed Daddy had a whole other family she'd never even met! What the heck? Why hadn't they met her yet and just seen the awesomeness that was Sassa?

Again, she was being like a little filly. But it's not like her brother did anything. He just lazed around in the sun, all freaking day long. At least she got out and did something, even if it was to just tell the birds how cool she was.

Ah, the fakeness just dripped off of her like water, but no matter, she was Sassa, and she wasn't about to get her tail in a twist just because she wanted to be liked by people all the time.

She came up on a some what yellowy, or maybe it was golden mare. Her head tilted to one side for a moment. Huh... she was sure she hadn't met this one before but maybe...? She shrugged and trotted over to her regardless.

"Hi!" she said cheerfully.
