Aika: *trots up to Dusk and chirps happily* hi Dusk~!! ^o^
Dusk jumped a little, he hadn't been paying attention to his surroundings as the filly trotted up to him. "Oh! Hi Aika! Good to see you again!"
Aika: *flutters her little wings* Hi ^^ nice seeing you too~!! *huffs a strand of her mane out of her face and chuckles * how are you?
Dusk: *pauses and thinks back on the day*Hmmm.... I think I'm doing well... Nothing bad happened. *Suddenly his eyes get wide* Oh!! I learned a game today from Mama! *jumps at Aika and nipps her mane before dashing off in the opposite direction.* Tag!!
Aika: *cheeps, super surprised* WHA~!? 0w0 tag? *flutters her wings* what do i dooooo? *thinks for a second and decides the best action is to go after him~* waaaaiiiiittt~!!!
*takes off after him, kicking up dirt clods in her haste*
Dusk was too far away to hear Aika though once he figgured he was a safe distance away he looked behind him to see just how far away she was. Once sure she wouldn't catch up immediately he lunged behind a large bush to hide and catch his breath.
Aika: *sniffed around, puzzled, where did he go~!? she looked up at a few finches perched in the trees and chirped at them, getting a series of chirps and trills back. Ehhhh~~~so THAT'S what it was~ TAG... *she scanned around and clopped around, wiggling her nose and poking around shrubs*
Dusk tensed as he heard nearby footsteps and poked his head through his bush to see if Aika was close by. Unfortunately, she seemed to have been inspecting the shrub he had been hiding in because his head came through the bush only inches from his friend.. "Ah!!" Dusk squeaked in surprise as he pulled himself out of the branches a little too quickly and landed on his bum. He was sure she would tag him now.
Aika: *spies him and gallops forward excitedly, tagging him back, all out of breath and silly, trilling a sweet birdsong* TAAAAG~!!!! *takes off in the other direction*
Dusk shook off the surprise and got to his hooves quickly, darting after Aika. "Ready or not, here I come!!"
Aika: *having had a good head start she darted in and out of thick foliage, relying on the advice of her winged friends to get her to a safe place, though she kindly refused the idea of hiding in a tree* oh no oh nooooo~~~*she looked hastily around and then decided a patch of long grass just as green as she was would do just fine,and dived in, trying to stifle her giggles*
Dusk slowed as the grass grew taller. He had been warned by his moma that bad things could hide in tall grass. But... This was the way his friend had gone. He had been too slow, hadnt seen where his friend had gone, only that she had come this way. He sniffed the air, trying to catch her sent; nothing. Hesitantly he stepped into the grass, stepping carefully through in search of his friend.
Aika: *she heard the rusting of grass and knew that he was nearby, a flick of another blond tail, close~!! *she was as low to the ground as she possibly could be, blending in with her surroundings~ though the splat of purple and her blond mane could give her away* ...heeee~~~*she peeped like a baby finch, hoping to draw him off*
Dusk paused as he heard the peeping, his ears flicking in the direction of the sound. He turned, circling the sound approaching where it had come from from behind. He was uncomfortable in the tall grass, and he wasn't about to approach something that may be able to eat him from the front. Faint hues of yellow and purple filtered through the long blades as he quietly drew closer. Once he was sure it was Aika he burst from the grass, landing only inches behind her before giving her blond tail a quick tug. "Tag!" He said with a thrilled chuckle before plopping down on his bum. "I didnt realize this was such a tiring game." He added with a soft sigh.
Aika: *smiles happily and does the same* wooph~!! *chirps tiredly* it is indeed~!! *looks up at a group of tit mice that had decided to perch on the long grass blades and twittered at them, then nodding and looking back at Dusk* they say there's nothing scary in the grass today ^^ that's good~
Dusk gave a sigh of relief at the thought of there being nothing bad about. "It is indeed good..." He trailed off while watching Aika. He paused and looked at the ground for a moment before looking up at Aika sheepishly. "Aika, can I ask you a question?"
Aika: Yup ^^ my friends are pretty useful with things like that, helps me avoid the mean teethy folks *sage nod* hmm? *she tilted her head at him and wiggled her nose* a question? well ya~!! go for it ^^ *fluffs her wings and looks at him curiously
Dusk looker at Aika, then to the mice, then to Aika, then to the nearby birds. He gave a sigh, feeling stupid for asking what he was about to. "How..." He paused, reconsidering asking the question. She was his only friend, and to tell the truth he didnt want to look stupid in front of her. Oh well, he might as well ask it now that he had started. "How are you able to understand them? The creatures around us." He looked to the ground, drawing circles in the dirt at his hooves nervously as he asked. "I've tried listening very carefully but... I just dont know what they say."
Aika: *blinks at the question, having never really been asked about it before* well, i've just always been able to do it...even when i was in my basket~ mum said it has somethin to do with my gramma~ *whispers*she only speaks birdtalk you know~ and really~ *scuffs a hoof* it's only birds~ i've tried communicatin with other things, it didn't work~ *shrugs her little shoulders and chuckles* so just birds~ i guess i'm special too, cuz my sister n i are the only ones with wings ^^ *wiggles her nose* so that's as far as i know~ but folks seem to enjoy my songs~ so i'll keep twittering~ *warbles a few notes for him*
Dusk gave a sigh of relief. "So it runs in the family. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me for not being able to understand them." He got to his hooves and shook out his pelt. "Though I must say it's pretty cool that you can understand them. I'd love to be able to talk to them; I'm sure they've seen and heard many wondrous things." He paused listening to Aika sing as he watched some birds on a nearby tree. Without even thinking or realizing he was doing it he began to sing along to Aika's tune, voicing his thoughts out loud. "Oh little birds up in the tree, why do your words evade me? Fate, I suppose, it's meant to be. It seems your world is not for me..."
Aika: *finishes her song and beams at him* you can sing too~!! that was quite pretty, though sad of course~ *rests her violet glance on a pair of finches in the tree and chirps at them, getting a series of chirps back* hehe~ she looked back at him and giggled* they said they liked your singing too~*
"Wait... What?" He asked, completely lost. Dusk honestly hadn't realized he had been singing his thoughts out loud. "When did I sing?"
Aika: *looked at him kinda funny and then giggled* just now, silly~!! i think you just got all caught up in the moment~ *whispers at him* it's ok, it happens to me a LOT~ *chuckles and fluffes her wings, her feathers having become a bit more light as of late, most likely due to her adventuring and tiny little growth spurts.*
"I...." Dusk couldn't think of anything to say. "Well..." He hadn't realized he was singing, and now he had mad a fool of himself in front of Aika. His cheeks already beginning to turn a bright violet color from blushing in embarrassment he turned and trudged off into the tall grass away from his friend. He wasn't trying to be rude, he wasn't mad, he was just trying to spare himself further embarrassment.
Aika: *blinks and looks worriedly after him* er...Dusk? i wasn't tryin to make fun of you or anythin ^^ i do far sillier things, i promise~!! you're a good singer tooo~ *tries to follow his path through the grass, hoping she wouldn't lose him somewhere.* ehh...*wiggles her nose and makes a series of high pitched peeping noises, like baby chicks make, getting a few bird calls in answer* hurm, that way then~ *picks through the grass, thinking it an odd game of hide and seek* She didn't like to leave her friends alone.
Great, now on top of embarrassment he had made Aika feel bad. He continued on though, not saying a word out of not knowing what to say. After what felt like hours to Dusk (though it had only been a minute or two) he happened upon a small pool of water. He could still feel the heat in his cheeks from his blush, and as he looked at his reflection he could see the violet hue as well. He gave a soft sigh and bent down to take a drink. The water was cool and Refreshing. "Hm..." The water was cool, his face was still hot with the blush. Dusk shrugged and clinched his eyes tight before shoving his entire head under the water. He had been wrong, it wasn't cool - it was freezing. The newly spring air had yet to warm the water any. Quickly he jerked his head out and shook it free of any loose droplets. Well, at least his plan worked; his cheeks were no longer purple. "Aika!" Dusk called out to the tall grass. "I found some water! You thirsty?"
Aika: she had been worried a little about what Dusk had thought of her, what with the bird calls and her overbearing enthusiasm with things. She picked through the grass, not seeing any birds or any way out of it until she heard Dusk calling a couple hops to her left~
Overjoyed she clopped through the vegetation to find Dusk at a small pool of water.* Oh~ water~!! don't mind if i do~ *trots over and digs in, drinking her fill and shaking off the water droplets on her muzzle* hehe~ *she smiled at him* you ok now?
Dusk couldn't help but smile softly as Aika drank her fill, and he gave a wide cheerful grin to her when she asked if he was okay. "Doing much better now..." He assured her as water dripped from his mane.
Aika: *beams at him, still covered in little droplets* eh...ehhhhh~? *looks cross eyed at a water drop on her nose and giggles* i must look like a feathery leaf early int he morning~ ya know, dew n stuff ^^ *laughs, knowing full wells he's being silly*
