Teal eyes stared up towards the sky, he had been waiting for the winds to take him back on his journey, but they did not come. Perhaps they had meant for him to stay where he was for awhile, hunt and relax. Crossing his right leg over his left he let out a small yawn. The sting of sea salt still caked in his nose. It wasn’t a bad feeling though, no, it was enjoyable to still have its scent wrapped around him.
So many characters he had met in his journey, and he felt he would still meet many more. Each and every time he followed that sweet scented wind. Would he ever see them again, the creatures he had met with? Or would they become distant but fond memories?
Raising his head a little more he traced the clouds, one reminding him of a rabbit, another a fish. How very relaxing it was to watch them just float on by. How enjoyable it was just to sit and think.
Sighing again he pulled himself to his feet, he would scavenge tonight. He didn’t feel like taking the life of another. Not now at least. The slowing pulse of his last kill haunting him. It hadn’t gone nearly as smoothly as he had wished.

Tawi trotted across the open expanse of the savannah. Her head swiveled about to see if that anger wildebeest was still following her or not. Was it her fault that the stupid calf wouldn't get out of her way when she tried to walk through the herd? No, no it wasn't. She had no intention of eating the calf, at least not at that point. Well he wasn't there anymore so it looks like the stupid beast had given up.
Turning her attention back to where she was going her eyes settled on a male off in the distance. Chances are he had already seen her and Tawi was not one to change course when she had a direction of travel in mind. So she continued straight forward, heading almost straight for the male, not caring whether he moved or not.

Tandu shivered lightly, something was watching him. Turning his head in the direction of the female he watched her come closer. Was she lost or something? Or maybe he had crossed into another prides territory and she was a guard. Tensing up slightly at the thought Tandu looked around the lands. No, it couldn't be a pride.
Chewing his bottom lip slightly he weighed the options of running away and waiting for the lioness to come to him. Both seemed rather cowardly to him. Eying the lioness up again he nodded to himself. He would greet her.
Paws lightly touching the ground as he moved swiftly forward towards the lioness. What would he say when he got there? Would she be a nice lioness or perhaps she was mean. He had no idea. Though lately, he had rather good luck with meeting other creatures.
Pulling in closer he decided to call to her. "Hello!" His voice was thick, a nervous twang in his voice as he called. Stopping he waited for her. He was close enough now, she just had to walk a couple feet more.

Seeing the lion approach her Tawi wondered for a moment if she was coming up on pridelands. Taking a deep sniff of the air she couldn't catch the scent of many lions in this area. The few scents outside of this males were old, a clear sign of lions who had wandered though, much like she was.
Slowing as she got closer to him Tawi finally came to a stop, leaving a bit of space between her and the lion. "Hello." She said in return. Cursed lion was in her way, couldn't he see that. He probably wanted something from her, they always did. Maybe if she played the role of friendly lioness roaming the roguelands she would get by him a lot faster than trying to shove her way past. As much as Tawi hated acting friendly sometimes she had to for her benefit. "Lovely day isn't it?" She spoke after a long pause.

As his heart slowed his mind started working. She didn't seem like a very nice female to him, just from the tone of her voice and a couple slight movements from her face and ears. Did she not want to speak with him maybe? Brows furrowing he watched her carefully.
If there was one this Tandu was very good at, it was picking up on anothers personality. Just the faces they make and the way they talk. Maybe a small movement in their tail or ears. Everything was a factor to him.
"You don't need to play ball with me. What is it you need?" He sounded gruff, something he was hardly capable of doing. Though, being fake with him often caused his temper to be short. Be who you are not what you think others want you to be. That was something his mother and father taught him, a motto he kept very close with him. To see another acting not like they would any other time... that was just like lying to his face.

Tawi let a small smile cross her maw. Finally a lion who saw through her act and knew that she didn't care to have a nice chat. Well if he wanted her to be blunt and truthful then so be it. That suited Tawi just fine. She let her smile fade and met his eyes. "What I need, is to keep walking. It is what I do, what I live for."
The truth hurt in a way but at least she hadn't yet explained the reason behind her need for walking. If he asked, well then she would make something up. Of course she would make it sound truthful as the real truth was something she didn't speak about, especially with strangers. "Names Tawi by the way." Why she so willing gave up her name she wasn't sure, perhaps because he wanted her to not play nice and be her true self. But even what she was showing him now wasn't her true self, but he didn't need to know that.

A grin crossed his face as she spoke. She needed to keep walking then. Was she lost, or was she running away from her past? Whatever it was, he was slightly interested, though he wouldn't just come out and ask her about it. "Are you lost then? Or running away?" He started moving in the direction she had been moving. Perhaps it would be easier to talk with her if he did. get her to poke her head out of her shell.
"And I am Tandu." He turned to look at her. Would she maybe crack, or was this really her. His gut said no, but he wasn't going to push the issue. There was a reason they met after all, and he was bound to find out why.
Feeling the wind wash over him he grinned. He was starting to believe more and more that his mother was the wind. Washing over him and protecting him. Where ever it brought him, he remembered a lesson from her.

Of course he would ask that question, she grimaced. But at least he was willing to talk and walk at the same time. Not that Tawi needed the company, but she supposed that if she let him tag along for a bit it would mean he would possibly leave her alone soon enough. "No, I'm not lost. If I were lost I wouldn't know what direction to travel in now would I?" She fell into step beside him.
That at least made a bit of sense to her, though not completely. Being lost meant she would possibly be frantic to find her way back to where ever it was she had been. But Tawi didn't want to go back, so it made sense to travel away from what she didn't wish to see - or acknowledge. "And I'm not exactly running away either. I just prefer to keep moving. I don't like staying in one place for too long." Well damn, she just let some of the real truth seep out. Oh well, too late to go back on her words now.

Tandu couldn't help but laugh, the rumbling filling the air as he listened to her explain herself. There were many ways to be lost, not just being freaked out and attempting to move back to an area. No. You could be lost in your own head, lost to your own dreams. So many ways... almost too many.
"Okay. Then where are you heading to? What area are we in now?" He glanced at her, interested in what she would have to say to that. Just some friendly chit-chat. It helped keep the mind working, keeping it from loosing itself. Even if, the questions he asked he didn't quite know either. He did have a guide though, and he highly doubted she had one of those.
When she answered the second part of his question a brow furrowed. Not exactly? So she was but she didn't want to say she was, or what? What did not exactly mean?
"I see..." A line formed over his maw as he watched her. Was she in some kind of trouble? "I hope you will find what you are looking for, Tawi. You sound almost troubled to me, but I won't pressure you into speaking." Smiling at her he moved away a bit, Giving her distance. She didn't seem to be enjoying their time together at all.
"I also apologize for intruding."

Tawi looked at the lion out of the corner of her eye. She wasn't sure if he was buying what she was telling him. Did it matter if he didn't. No, not particularly, but at least he could act like he believed her. Whatever, no point in dwelling on it. "As to where I am headed. Well in this direction for a while. Then depending on where I end up I may continue on or change course." Turning her head she looked at him once more. "The path of a wanderer is not always know."
At his next words she came to a stop. She sounded almost troubled. Well wasn't that a spot on. Troubled was a bit of an understatement some days. Today was not particularly troubling to her, at least as long as she kept her mind off of the things that did trouble her.
"You've never had a guilty conscience have you?" She asked him bluntly. From the way he talked and acted Tawi doubted that he did.

He took that as an answer and didn't question it further. She didn't seem like the type to truly open up after all and pestering her with question would more than likely make her angry. Nodding his head at her he noted what she said and stored it for later. Every bit of info learned could be used at a later date.
And then she suddenly stopped. Looking back at her his felt himself tense up. He didn't mean to upset her, just wish her well. Chewing the inside of his cheek he waited for her to speak.
It was like a slap, her blunt words. Questioning where he had ever felt guilty about something. The truth was he really didn't. He had for a brief moment when his mother turned up missing and for leaving his father alone, but it didn't last long. He left the ideas drift pass him, knowing if he would dwell upon them they would reshape his whole being.
"I have not."

Of course he hadn't. Or at the very least he wasn't willing to admit that he had. Either way it didn't matter. He had wanted to talk, for her to be herself and now that she was it seemed he was a bit - well she wasn't sure, perhaps a bit put off. Clearly he wasn't used to meeting others like her. Most of those she ran into eventually acted the same way.
It was their faults in the end, they wanted to know her life story and when she even hinted at it they would change their minds. Usually she was grateful for that as it meant she didn't have to do down the path she feared the most.
"Probably for the best that you haven't." She told him, though she refused to tell him exactly what her guilt stemmed from. "It changes you, haunts you. You can choose to face it or you can try to outrun it. It's the same result no matter what. It eats you up inside." Her brow furrowed a bit. How far did she wish to take this before it started to hurt once more. "And no matter how hard you try, things can never go back to the way they were."

Things can never go back to the way they were. The words stung as they hit him. He had been seeking that the entire time, even if he knew the truth. He didn't want to accept it, he wanted to make it better again. So why were there tears now filling his eyes. He knew what was true the whole time, he really did.... didn't he.
As tears glided down his brown cheeks he shook his head. "No..." He whispered so lightly one would have to strain to hear it. He wanted her back, he wanted the family back to what it used to be... but was that really what he wanted. What he was really following the wind for. He wasn't exactly sure anymore, but he told himself yes anyway.
Of course he wanted the family back to it's peaceful ways. Why else would be out in this hellish land. Why else would he desert his father to roam.
"...I am so sorry.. I. I lied to you. I do. I do feel at fault for my family breaking apart... I... " He couldn't stop the tears anymore, and broke down crying. What this what guilt felt like. The memories of accepting his mothers leaving and even urging her to follow the wind ripping him apart.
Pulling himself together finally he looked up at the female and turned away. It was time for him to leave. He had more made quite the a** out of himself and rather not speak with the female anymore. Pulling himself up Tandu looked to the lioness one last time before running into the distance.
