Tell us a little about yourself.

This thread is meant to get the pleasentries out of the way so that we know who's reading our work, and who's behind the stuff we're reading.
So you can copy and paste the following questions into a post, and answer them.

1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique? (unofficial stuff on the side like hobbies counts too. Don't be afraid to say you're just getting interested in writing if that is the case.)

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?

4) Anything else you want us to know about you?

Please only post once in this thread. You can welcome new members or talk to each-other in the chatterbox subforum of the guild.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 05, 2010 7:07 pm

1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique?

I took a creative writing class in high school and college level english in high school where we learned specifically how to analyze literature for major points and understanding. I loved my english class so much that I would up starting to just write essays just for the fun of it.

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?

I can't wait for the classroom parts of the guild to be operational. As soon as the guild gets enough gold to start a subforum for the classes, I will be posting several games, activities, and lessons aimed at assisting aspiring writers. I look forward to talking to other people who have the same interests here.

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?

I really wanted to be an english teacher, but the pay is less than great so I picked a more financially sucessful career. I plan on mainly developing my teaching skills here and help out fellow writers just for fun.

4) Anything else you want us to now about you?

I'm working on a book right now and am not sure whether I'm going to try to get it published. It's about my trying experience in sixth grade. I've been to 12 schools and that was by far the worst one ever. I'd like to let people know that uniforms don't fix everything.

If you'd like to refer to me by name, I'm Signora Della Luna here. You can call me Luna for short.

1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique? (unofficial stuff on the side like hobbies counts too. Don't be afraid to say you're just getting interested in writing if that is the case.) I actually spend a lot of time reading and writing fanfiction, a huge hobby of mine. Since I've been doing it for so long I know I'm at least a decent writer and I'm a huge reader. I can help anyone out with their stories fanfiction or other.

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here? I'll be here and there, can't really say where I'll be most of the time.

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?
I'm hoping I can become a better writer through this guild. While I know I don't have the best writing skills I know I don't have the worst either. I hope to improve my spelling and grammar most of all and I would love it if I got some help with plot holes and how to avoid them.

4) Anything else you want us to now about you? I'm on mostly at night, I write a lot of slash (male x male, gay - for those who are unsure of what it means) but I also write a lot of other things such as femslash (girl x girl) and straight things. Like I said I write a lot of fanfiction but sometimes I come up with my own stuff though chances are it'll be short.

I'm really looking forward watching this guild grow.

First, Luna, thanks for the invite - it was neat to see someone is paying attention on different forums! I hope that I can be useful here.

1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique? (unofficial stuff on the side like hobbies counts too. Don't be afraid to say you're just getting interested in writing if that is the case.)

I'm a recent college graduate with a degree in English Literature, so I've been reading and writing critically for a long time. I dabble in writing, but I think my real strength is in assessing and critiquing the work of others. It is my experience that I can be pretty insightful when workshopping pieces, and I like being a part of the creative process - helping someone develop their writing into the best it can be is a great thing.

I also write a blog where I try to review books that are a little more unknown, although it's also a place where I collect my readerly thoughts. It's here, if you're interested: Alternative Read

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?

Like I said, I'm most looking forward to exposure to the work of others, and getting the chance to offer constructive input. Would that be the "Classroom"?

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?

I think objectively evaluating the work of others teaches you constructive ways to evaluate your own writing, so by improving my critiquing skills I'll hopefully be improving my own writing skills.

4) Anything else you want us to now about you?

The most reliable way to communicate with me on Gaia is through PM. smile

1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique?

I write stories (Most are loved by my sister) and I write poetry. Most of my storied never get finished though... it's really kind of annoying.

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?

Probably every where. I don't like not looking at all aspects of a guild.

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?

To become a better writer and hopefully be able to complete one of my stories.

4) Anything else you want us to now about you?

I spent most of my time on Gaia and you can call me Panda. Meh... I really don't know what else to put here.

Hey everyone, I'm Ren.
I've been writing fanfiction for about 5 or 6 years now, with the occasional original short story here and there. I recently began writing an original novel, but you wont see any of it for MONTHS. It's still ridiculously rough. (And it's winter, and the book is set in Texas in the summer. I can't write about how hot it is outside while I'm frozen. I'm weird)

I probably wont post any of my already-written fanfiction here, just because there's a ton of it and that seems silly, but when I get something new going, you'll be the first to know. (Unless someone REALLY wants me to post my already written fanfiction here?)
I may however, post some of my original fiction, because no one on Gaia has seen it.

However if you want to see my previously written work (Mainly Harry Potter, Albus/Gellert stuff really) you can check me out at My Ff.net or My live journal

I'm really most interested in getting feedback on the stuff that I write.

Other interesting facts: I run a Pokemon Shipping Guild, a DBZ Slash Guild and Vice-Captain an Outlaw Star Guild.
I play on the Hufflepuff team at the UT Austin Muggle Quidditch Team.
I own rabbits.
I'm vegetarian.
I live in a Co-Op.
I'm an English major (Future English teacher/Writer)
I'm a total attention hog.
I also have a 5+ year LARP with one of my very best friends, which is fun.
I do RPs.

Also: Thanks for the Invite Life is short.

OMG... Ren is here?! [Fan squeal] By the way, hello, I am Kei. I am an aspiring writer. So, let's get to the point:

Quote:
1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique?
Well, I have been writing stories since my Elementary years. However, I am still developing my skills big time and majority of my stories are constantly edited and redone.

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?
Well, if not reading posts of Ren (Fan squeal again), then I'd be seen littering everywhere.

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?
Write to my heart's content...

4) Anything else you want us to now about you?
Get to know me midway. I can say that I am a very soft person and easily to get along with. Though I have to admit that my overly formal persona does make awkward moments.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 07, 2010 4:57 pm

First, I just want to thank Ren for suggesting this place to me!
Well, hi, I'm desiredblasphemy, but you can just call me Blasphemy. :3

1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique?
I started writing in roughtly the fifth grade, and as a sophomore in high school I have definitely made a lot of improvement over the years, but feel that I'm still highly lacking in my writing. I'm a perfectionist, you see, and I rarely write anything I feel good about. I dabble mostly in fanfiction, because when it comes to original works I am far more picky and tend to go insane over every detail, which is why none of my novel/novella ideas have gone anywhere.

As for as a critic, I always try to find something I dislike about a piece, and try to offer helpful suggestions to the writer. I've upset some people before with my bluntness, but I honestly just want to see people improve. So I hope I don't go on to offend anyone with my critiques; I don't try to!

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?
I don't know, exactly. I'm just excited about being here in general, and being able to hopefully get some honest criticism on my writing for once!

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?
I really want to improve my writing a lot, so that hopefully I can gain more confidence in myself and preferably gain the ability to stay committed to a story. I've started countless multi-chapter fanfiction but I can never seem to finish any of them! I currently have one on-going chapter fic and I intend to stick with it, no matter how long it takes.

4) Anything else you want us to now about you?
I have a slew of original characters, but really nothing to do with them. The vast majority of 'em are from a Pokemon roleplay, but with minor adjustments they can fit almost anywhere. They're my babies. I love them all way too much.

Oh, yeah, and I roleplay. A lot. Pokemanz is my love. <3

1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique? (unofficial stuff on the side like hobbies counts too. Don't be afraid to say you're just getting interested in writing if that is the case.)
I spend a large amount of my time writing et reading fan-fiction. I've been writing since the 6th grade and would like to think my writing as improved since then. There's not much i can offer in literature critique, but i can do my best.

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?
I can't really say, maybe all over.

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?
I'm hoping this will make me a better writer. I'm not the best with grammar and spelling, but with this guild i can hopefully get over that. I also have a habit of running into plot holes, or trailing of and such.

4) Anything else you want us to now about you?
I'm home schooled so I just felt the need to share that. I mostly write bandslash, it is EXTREMELY rare if i post something that is not bandslash related. If you don't know what slash is it's MalexMale.
I RP a lot, bandslash RP's of course.
Umm, i constantly second guess myself when it come to my fiction. But like i said, i write a lot of fanfiction.

Umm I have been writting short stores for a while now, but the story Im working on now will hopefully be longer.

Well I just like the idea of being able to talk to other writters to help me get in the mood to write.

I want to finish the story Im writting, and hopefully if its good enough to get it published.

Um Im on at night mostly, and Im very lazy, also Im might get onto the guild once a day, also always looking for some to have a conversation with.

1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique?

-I've been writing fanfiction since 2002, some pretty popular, some not so much. Won NaNoWriMo for my mainstream fiction book (unfinished) "A Queer Exchange," in 2005. Currently working on a new fantasy novel, "Dust." I've never completed a novel.

-I love critiquing people, especially when it goes beyond simple grammar and syntax issues. I like to help people improve their writing, and I know an honest, and sometimes harsh, critique is the best place to start.

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?

-Probably Original Stories Forum. Critiquing and such.

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?

-Hopefully my writing will improve from others comments. I'd also like to get more experience critiquing others, because I'm looking to join a critiquing circle soon.

4) Anything else you want us to now about you?

-I'm a sophomore at U of Michigan, Chemistry Major, Asian Studies Minor. Both completely unrelated to writing. So yeah, not only can I help you with your writing, but I can help you with your Chemistry (specifically organic), and Japanese.

Just wanted to say thanks for the invite!
And now for these delightful questions...
1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique? (unofficial stuff on the side like hobbies counts too. Don't be afraid to say you're just getting interested in writing if that is the case.)
Well... I've been writing for a while now... Since elementary actually. But I get bored of my stories really easily. Either that, or I get writers' block a lot. I can write almost anything, but I prefer fanfiction or original fantasy stories.
2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?
Most likely, I'll be reading other people's stories and giving them some comments. Or I'll probably be trying to work on my own stories.
3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?
I would love to become a better writer through the criticism I receive here! Hopefully I can write better stories and think of more imaginative storylines.
4) Anything else you want us to now about you?
Well... I am a self proclaimed freak. I get obsessed over things really easily. And I'm in my last year of junior high. Oh, and I love JRock!

1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique?
- Welp, through piles of assigned essays and book reports, I've been interested and been making stories ever since my 4th grade. I get writer's block all the time and I'd need some inspiration to hit me in the behind.

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?
- Definitely the fan-fiction subforum. Never been original since I could remember. LOL. Yeah, I'm that unoriginal.

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?
- I'm planning to make stories for kids! Also always been a good writer for turning innocent stuff to demented things. Harhar.

4) Anything else you want us to now about you?
- ... I like a hot Milo mug every breakfast. I'm also obsessed of the Joker. His logic is already taking over my mind. Gawds, how could he be so charming and twisted at the same time?

1) What experience do you have as a writer and as a literature critique?
I've been writing fanfiction for around two-three years now. If it wasn't fanfiction, it was just little things here and there. I'm not REALLY a literature critique, though if I notice mistakes being consistently I'll address them.

2) What part of the guild interests you the most? Where do you think you'll be spending most of your time here?
To answer both questions, I'd probably say the fanficiton section since I write it myself. That doesn't mean I won't lurk around other parts of the guild.

3) What do you want to do with the skills you get from this guild?
Hopefully better my grammar. It's not horrid, but it could use some work.

4) Anything else you want us to now about you?
Well, my name is Nicole. I live in New York and I'm eighteen years old. That's pretty much it. c:
