The world outside of her basket was sometimes scary, sometimes fascinating... Sometimes a mixture of both. It had only been a week or so, but she was adapting quite well to this bright world with so many new sights, sounds and smells to take in. Although it was rare for her to leave her mother's side as they moved to rejoin her herd, today was too beautiful a day not to - the air was cool and the blooming flowers indicated that it now was no longer winter, but spring.

The filly fluttered her wings happily, smiling as a cooling breeze lifted her mane. Although her little basket was warm and secure, she found herself loving the world outside of that basket even more than the world inside of it. Her mother and siblings are here, and there is so much to learn! Now, if only she was as brave as her siblings... They always found the courage to go further than her and always had such amazing stories to tell! Now, if only she could have the courage to do the same! She was sure that her stories would be even better than her siblings'...

Oh wait! Maybe she could!

Fleurite's eyes widened as she mused over it; she was sure that in mother's herd, there would be people who appreciate stories as much as she does... Who knows? She could be the story teller of the herd! How exciting! Flicking her tail, she continued on her way, deeper into the forest as she strayed away from her mother. As she trotted, she made sure to remember where she walked; wouldn't want to go through the terrible experience of getting lost again!

Sonnet was once again practicing his flying. He was hopeless at it, and he had been told to work on it and make his wings stronger. But then he thought he was hopless at most things. That didn't stop him though, he would put a lot of work into things that mattered to him. And he wanted to fly, he wanted to see the other side of the clouds and so he practiced.

Today he was trying to glide again. He hadn't done that since he had had his first flying lesson and he had glided about as well as a rock did. But he had been exercising his wings for days and now he thought to try again, he could then find out if he needed to practice more and build up more strength before his next lesson.

So as always when he was practicing he had gone to a quiet deserted place, and was jumping up into the air and trying to glide a little way.

She stopped, smiling to herself as she bent down to sniff a flower; Spring was such a wonderful season! The white snow of winter might be pretty to look at, but nothing beats the multi-colors of the flowers of spring. Straightening herself up, Fleurite paused before giggling; she had just made a rather poetic sentence in her head! Maybe she would be a good story-teller for the herd after all.

As she continued on her way, making sure to stick close to herd territory for safety, the filly caught sight of a colt in the distance. As she peered at him form the shade, she could see his horn, something she possessed as well, glistering in the sun and he was trying to glide on- Her eyes widened in disbelief; two pairs of wings? She turned around to look at her own back; she clearly only has one pair, and although she had seen what others called 'Wind Soquili' soaring high in the sky, she was sure that they too, only had one pair of wings...

Feathered wings, like that colt.

Hesitating, Fleurite looked worriedly behind her, wondering if it would be a good idea to leave herd territory, even if it was only for a few minutes... Just long enough to ask the colt a few questions; after all, if she was to become a story-teller, it would be handy to have some knowledge of Soquili breeds! Making up her mind, the filly trotted cautiously towards the other foal.

"Hel-Hello," She blushed, giving the colt a polite smile as she gestured at his back, "I was wondering... Why do you have two pairs of wings?"

Distracted he forgets about what he was trying to do and promptly crash lands in a puff of feathers. Looking round as small feathers drift down around them. Seeing another filly and this oe had non feather wings too, starting to wonder if all the girls were mutants. His face going serious as he ponders this. Getting his feet back under him and having a shake, spreading his wings out to make sure they were fine. Finally turning to face her when he had checked everything that he knew to check.

His wings folding neatly on his back, the wings on his head folding and tucking down in uncertaintly, not really able to control the little wings on his hind legs, but they were all muddy and no use at the moment anyway. Looking her over more clearly now he was facing her, a smile coming to his face despite just having crashed.

Shaking his head and shruging not really knowing 'why' he had so many, all he knew was that there were others like him and they too had lots of wings. "I dunno... I was born like it, so was meh sister... Am I met another filly who was the same... I forgot to ask her if she knew anything about it." He had been too distracted at the prospect of flying lessons at the time, so asking questions about his species had not seemd as important.

"Ouch," Fleurite breathed, winching a little when she saw the colt crash, although it was due more to instincts and imagining the pain of crashing rather than literally feeling his pain. When she was learning to control her own wings, she had crashed a few times herself - once, she flew right into a tree because she was unable to change directions when she wanted to. At the thought, she blushed; that was one of her most embarrassing moments in her short life.

"O-Oh..." Her face fell when she didn't get the answer she wanted, but quickly smiled again whens he realized that it must be pretty rude of her, "My sister and I were born with these butterfly-like wings, but my brother had none, like mother." She paused, wondering if maybe it was normal for a Soquili to possess two pairs of wings instead of one. Perhaps she was the odd one out? But even birds and insects have only one pair...

As she mused over the topic of wings, the filly realized that she had failed to introduce herself before asking her question! She blushed, frowning at herself; how rude was it, for her to do that? Looking at the colt, she bowed her head, "Um... I'm Fleurite, Fleur for short. Its nice to meet you... Sorry if I was disturbing something..."

Sonnet smiled as she introduced herself, giving a little nod bow. "I'm Sonnet... My twin has wings and a horn like me... but my older sister and dad dont have either... So I dont know..." Never having met his mother so it would be hard to tell, but it was a good guess that she had the wings. Not knowing that his older sister had a different mother to him yet, but he would probably find these things out when he was older.

Seeing how disapointed she was he tried to reasure her. "Well.... I can go ask and come back and tell you? I'm sure my dad knows! Or or ummm we could go and maybe find out together? Like an adventure or something?" Not really sure how to find out on an adventure but it was worth a shot, especially if it kept her happy. He hated it when girls cried or suled, he always felt like it was his fault. Smiling at her, the little wings on his head giving a small wiggle. Having wings in all kinds of places.

"I was just practicing so its ok, I can stop whenever. But I practice every day cause I want to be able to fly really high when I'm big!" Puffing out his chest a little, feeling pleased and proud that he would one day be able to soar through the clouds. Going more back to normal after a few moments of being all puffed up, chuckleing, feeling silly to be all puffy and proud. Then again he didn't understand what he was yet.

"Sonnet is a nice name, reminds me of music." She smiled fondly, brightening up as she giggled at the way Sonnet's head-wings wiggled; this colt had wings in funny places! She was sure she spotted some near his hoofs too! At his comments, she paused before musing out loud, "An adventure? How would that work though? I guess I could ask mother too... Maybe its normal to have both one pair and two pairs of wings?"

She blinked when he mentioned flying, turning to look at her own back for the second time today; she knew that her small, thin wings will never get her past the tallest tree in the forest... But having four feathered wings that were sure to grow bigger in the future? Fleurite peered at her new friend's wings; she was sure Sonnet would be able to fly much higher than she could ever dream of when they're both adults.

"I'm sure you'll be able to do it," The filly finally replied with a smile as she gave him an encouraging nod, "And since you work so hard, I'm sure you'll be able to do it really well!"

Shaking his head, having been told that he had a girls name, but the nhe hadn't seen the colt since, but he was still unsure and a little sensative about it. "Dad said its poetic or somethin... My sister has a musical name though he says." Shrugging, only having just started to learn about music, not really knowing anything about poetry at all. Figiting a little, not able to stop himelf looking at his wings and down to the ones on his hoofs.

"I dunno I only know 2 others that look like me, ones my twin sister and the others another filly I met, shes gonna help me learn to fly!" Grinning at the idea, not able to help himself, looking over at her seeing her lookign at her own little wings, wishing he could give her some of his. "Mebbe we should go ask? Cause I havent seen any growd ups like me at all." Well not yet he hadn't, but parents always knew the answers to things.

Grinning at her confidence in him, standing up straighter and nodding. "Yup I'm gonna be the best flyer!" That probably not going to be the case but he was going to try hard either way.

"Poetic? I love the sound of poems... They almost sound like a song, but not really..." She paused, frowning a little when she realized how little she knew about poems. If she was to become a story-teller in the future, knowing some poems might help her, right? She made a mental note to ask her mother about it, and perhaps the rest of her herd could help as well.

"Really? That sounds fantastic!" The filly grinned happily, smiling at how excited he was about learning to fly. Looking thoughtful, Fleurite mused out loud, "Hey, when you learn how to fly, do you think you can try to take me up to the skies on your back so I can know what its like?" She blushed, shifting her hoofs nervously, "Sorry if its too much to ask, but... I've always wondered... What its like..."

Her voice trailed away into silence and she paused before offering a smile, "Its okay to say no! I mean, who knows, by then I might be too big." She chuckled at the image of Sonnet trying to take off with a full-sized mare on his back, "Or too heavy!"

Watching her as she goes on about poems, not knowing much about them himself, though he had wondered if he should learn something about them as his name involved them. Then again there were many things he was starting to want to know, but he needed to find people to teach him those things. But then his head my burst if he squashed too much in it at once. His expression flickering as this passes through his mind.

Smiling when his thoughts cleared, thinking the filly looked as excited as he was to learn to fly, though her question surprised him. Looking at her little wings wondering how bad it might be to have wings but never be able to properly fly, almost like you were the butt of a bad joke. Nodding a little, looking unsure. "I dunno when I'll learn to fly properly but sure, when I get big and strong and can fly the best I'll take you flying... As long as you don't get to big, I dunno how much I could fly with on meh back..." He would give it a shot though. Smiling again hoping that was a good enough answer for now.

She knew that it was quite the sudden and ridiculous request; they were still foals and she was sure that adulthood would not come so soon. Furthermore, Sonnet still has to master the art of flying before he could even attempt to carry someone else. However, it still did not stop her from hoping that he'll say yes to a request like this.

"Wonderful!" Fleurite smiled fondly at the colt before pausing, a thoughtful look on her face as she continued, "You know, you're really nice! To be honest, it means a lot to me that you agreed, even though its such a... Well, such a weird request." Her smile widened as she blushed, "So! Even if in the end, I end up being too big or heavy or both, I am still grateful that you said 'yes' today!"

Although it sounded like something a filly couldn't come up with, Fleurite had found that the more she trained herself to come up with good stories, the easier it was for her to get her opinions and emotions across to others despite her age. However, it still didn't fix her problem of stuttering and being nervous and shy around strangers.

"Hey, why don't you show me how you fly? Or how you were training just now?" She suggested with a smile, curious if there was a difference between how Soquilis with feathered wings and flutter wings take off into the skies.

Sonnet shuffled a little bit, not usually having company for when he flew, but then what would it hurt. He needed to get over his shyness about this, especially for when he had another lesson, he wouldn't get far if he was too shy to fly then. Nodding and looking back over to where he had been practicing. "Sure, but I've only had one lesson so I'm not very good."

Moving away so that he had more room he unfolded his wings, all 4 weren't huge yet but they had size compared to the rest of him. Giving a couple of test flaps, sending a breese over towards her. Seeming happy with this he give a little jump and starts flapping, his wings catching him before he lands from the jump, rising into the air, though he wasn't going to go high, but he was higher up than he was tall. His wings trying to pace it so he wasn't going up or down too much. Doing this on and off till he came in for an awkward landing. Staggering a little as his hooves touchdown. Folding his wings up and giving her a grin of triumph. He hadn't stayed up very long but he had had a good landing.

Fleurite beamed at the colt when he agreed, happy that they're friends. As he prepared to fly, the filly watched from a short distance away - she studied the way he tested his wings, giggling at the breeze caused by him flapping his wings before shaking his head to get her hair out of her face. When Sonnet finally took off, she held her breathe; it would be terrible if he crashed and injured himself! Her eyes followed the purple colt as he soared through the air. When he landed, she breathed out and grinned happily, relieved that he was fine.

"That's a good attempt for having only one lesson!" She nodded as she cantered towards him, returning his grin of triumph with a relieved smile; he ought to be proud of himself! She then giggled, "It was a good flight! I'm sure your teacher will be proud too!" She nodded, as if agreeing with her own statement.

Sonnet shook his head, making sure his wings were carefully folded. "I can only go up and down at the moment, its more practice than flying... But I'm going to soar one day!" Walking back over to her, trying not to puff up his chest all proud at her complements, he knew that he still had a long way to go, besides pride wasn't something he knew much of, he did know that too much pride was a bad thing though.

"I hope my teacher is happy... I never thought I would have someone to teach me so I want her to be pleased." Shuffling awkwardly, really hoping that he is a good student. Looking up at her, his eyes pleased but unsure. "I'm not sure when my next lesson will be, so I'll practice every day till then." Not sure what else to say so he just looked down at his small figeting hooves.

"Well, someone once told me that um..." She paused, frowning a little; then, her eyes lit up as she grinned, "That practice makes perfect! Then again, someone told me that there is no such thing as perfection..." She frowned again, her ears pinned to the back of her head as she tried to make sense of the two sentences. Then, she shook her head before beaming at the colt, "Anyway, I think what it means is that by practicing, you'll get better and better till you're really good at it! So I believe that you'll soar one day as well!"

She blinked at his next comment, sensing the change of emotions in her new friend; this teacher must be an important person to him, seeing as he's so eager to please her. Giving an encouraging smile, she trotted closer to him and gave him a gentle pat on his rump with her tail - it was like how a close herd member had bumped her on her head for misbehaving... Only this time, it was to hopefully boost the colt's faith in himself.

"Well, you have the thought - I'm sure your teacher will be happy just by knowing that," She nodded with a soft giggle, "And you're working so hard that I'm sure you'll see improvements by the next lesson!" She nodded again, this time with a confident expression.
