Sometimes you just had to get away.
Ilie, in particular, didn't like to spend elongated periods of time with her 'siblings'. All of them were imperfect, and she didn't like imperfect things. She didn't like things that failed to meet her high standards. As she walked down a side street, she was kicking things. A can... disgusting. Trash. Everywhere, everything on this world, trash. Ugly and unworthy. It rankled that this was the energy that would support the Tree.
Yet, didn't it figure? Supposedly these humans had taught Eiru and An, so long ago, about the power of love. Wouldn't it make sense that the energy to power their tree would come from them?
So, clearly, if Ilie found two disgusting humans, Ilie would be able to make the tree that much stronger. If she brought more energy than Iyero back, he would stop attempting to rope her into his ridiculous dance routines. He would stop posturing like she was somehow less than he.
She rounded the corner to the street, ready to cross the street to the park. Then, she stopped, a smile breaking the angry lines of her face. Oho, a convenient pair of humans! She pushed her hat down on her head, shoved her hands in her pockets and said, loudly, "Well well! I see simple color coordination is no longer in vogue. How gruesome."

So close to the park now! Even though it really hadn't been necessary, Robin had kept her hand locked around Louisa's wrist the whole way there, pulling her along behind her as she chattered excitedly about what exciting things they might find. This was what she lived for, after all - blazing down the path of discovery, and with a new friend in tow! Could there be any better way to spend an afternoon?
But now there was someone in their way. Sneering at them. Mocking them. If Robin didn't know better, she'd think that she'd just run into a girl from Crystal - but no way, not with that hat. So she stopped, befuddled, and tilted her head at the newcomer.
Then simply grinned and shrugged. "Yeah, that went out of style years ago, right along with ridiculous hats and snotty fashion police." Robin was so damned cheerful about it - but of course, why shouldn't she be? They were on an investigation! Even this couldn't curb her enthusiasm!
In fact, she was just so upbeat right now, she would even be willing to forget that this girl tried to bring her down. "Come on, Louisa, we're almost to the park," she instructed her new photographer friend, pushing forward to continue on their way.

Louisa oddly enough wasn't one for confrontations, not on an everyday normal level anyway. She was more then happy to be pulled along by Robin, in fact in a way it felt rather nice. She liked to be dragged about, she enjoyed it. She felt like she actually had a friend but when the other girl appeared. She wasn't sure what to say.
"Er..." Was all she could say. Luckily it seemed Robin was more then happy to insult the girl again.
"Okay lets go." Louisa smiled and spoke rather cheerfully. She was looking forward to taking photos of this crash place. Near the park right? Why hadn't she heard of it? Goodness knows, she really should pay some more attention!
Louisa looked at the other girl again and narrowed her eyes slightly. No she looked normal enough, they could go on. Why was it that Louisa had to pay stupid amounts of attention on the small things such as what people were like? She was being human, act human!
"Come on Robin, lets hurry!" She smiled and looked at the girl again. Louisa didn't want to meet anyone else today she could only handle one new person at a time.

That stung. Ilie stepped back physically, allowing the girls to pass; her smile became a grimace, and then a snarl. Insult her? Her? The brunette didn't even know what to do with her hair! Disgusting! Revolting! So much for playing with the stupid, hateful little beasts. It was a pity, she might have let them live, too!
It was too bad she'd left Ishi behind. Picking on him probably would have calmed her down, at least a little bit.
She fought to keep the tremor of anger out of her voice as she called after them, "I wouldn't do that if I were you." Her flute came to hand easily, and she picked a card out of the pocket of her jacket. Call her hat ridiculous? Call her snotty? Ilie rose a few feet from the ground, threw Mandicord's card into the air--she didn't particularly care if the pair of terrible little humans was even paying attention by now. If her monster attacked them while they were unawares, so much the more energy for her!
Ilie brought her flute to her lips and played the card into life; she returned the instrument to where-ever it had come from. "Kill them, Mandicord," she ordered, and then winked out of existence.

Dark red light swirled where the card had been laid and then it flashed brightly behind the two unsuspecting girls.
There was a low growl and two bright yellow eyes laid it's gaze on the two unsuspecting victims. Crimson fur was matted against the beasts' entire body while its long claws glistening in the light. Swaying behind the beast was a large scorpion tail, bouncing with anticipation. With a haunting smile gracing its rather elegant face, razor sharp teeth stuck out and without another hesitation, arched forward. Now was the time to fight for the master.
In a flash of red fur it was off, running at them, arms back and tail swishing behind it. Turning to the right before knocking them over it made the first attack, thrusting its tail forward for a venomous strike. "MANDI!" It hissed out loudly, echoing across the street.

Robin had stopped and turned when Ilie had called after them. After all, the way that the stranger was dressed, there was a good chance that she was a government spy - there was no telling what juicy information they might get if hung around, even if it was only to get threatened with ambiguously unfortunate demises. (Robin was a true believer of the supernatural, but a proud skeptic of the government - anything they said they would do or might do was to be considered "under investigation" until they actually did it. Such thinking routinely gave her mother migraines.)
So the last thing she was expecting then was for the girl to whip out a Pokemon card, levitate a few feet of the ground, play the flute (what tune was that? It sounded pretty nice; Robin thought that she might incorporate it into her improv jazz playing at school) - and set a <******** monster on them.
Kill them, she'd said. Robin's days as a government skeptic were suddenly at an end, because Mandicord definitely wasn't coming over to give them a big bear-hug.
"Yiiiike!" It wasn't a scream, per se - or at least, when Robin was recounting her bravery in action later, she'd assure everyone that it was merely a reasoned warning call to her companion of the impending strike. And the flailing that accompanied it? That was just her throwing her weight out of the way, so that she didn't get struck by that dangerous tail! And you know, the butt really is the cushiest place to fall on the body, so that was totally a part of her plan, too
Robin would have trouble explaining why she then just sat on the ground and stared at the monster that was set to kill her and her newfound friend, though. Maybe she would say that she was trying to lull it into a sense of security by pretending to be too shocked and scared to move.

Louisa didn't know what to make of the girl then the card and the flute? Well she wasn't from the Negaverse so who the hell was she? Not that she was given all that much time to think about these things the monster was rather large and seemed more then happy to try and kill them.
"Sorry." Louisa whispered to Robin, she knew it would look like she was running off, oh she could come up with a story later. As Robin threw herself on the floor Louisa took off down the nearest alleyway. Once she was sure she was out of sight she pulled out the pen and said those all too familiar words.
She transformed quickly and climbed on to the roof, she couldn't appear from the same alley she had just ran down, that would be stupid.
"Oi you!" She called to the random girl, she really wasn't sure how to do this. She did have her phone but who to call? For now she needed to save Robin and that involved jumping down from the building and running towards the monster. Oh why was she doing this?
"Robin RUN!" She called out, she wasn't going to reach her and anyway who was she suppose to be fighting first? The girl or the monster?

Skidding to a halt, Mandicord turned with white fangs dripping with saliva. No flesh, no hair... the tail had failed the creature. Bouncing it angrily behind its back it lurched forward again, keeping both eyes glued to the fallen girl. An attack now would be easy.
The slender ears of the beast perked at the "RUN!" settling down onto the street. Another target so soon...? Shaking with a sense of ecstasy of the hunt, Mandicord grinned wide, more than one row of teeth shining in the glittering light. Abruptly the grin vanished, the beautiful facade of the human-esque face surfacing once more. With tail erect, the beast commenced where it had left off.
Sprinting to the fallen girl with razor sharp claws out, it growled loudly. It would reach for clothing, hair, flesh. Anything to bring its prey to the mercy of a venomous attack. It leaped, falling down to her, stretching its arms out, reaching...

Had... had Louisa just up and abandoned her? It seemed nearly impossible, but that apology was still bouncing around in Robin's ears. It seemed like on one level, Robin should have been relieved - she didn't want the other girl getting hurt, after all! But for her to just take off, not even offer a bit of help.... Ouch. Really, ouch. Maybe she'd had the girl figured out wrong after all - a "kindred soul" sure as hell wouldn't have left Robin to fend for herself like that.
But if Robin was good for anything, it was thinking on her feet. Which meant she didn't just sit on her a** and look shocked because her only ally had just left her to her fate. Supporting herself with one arm, Robin pushed herself up with a short gasp of air, praying only that she'd have enough chance to situate herself before Manticord struck out again--
Then came dashing in a new figure on the rooftop. The beast seemed to pause upon the senshi's arrival, giving Robin just a tiny window to stagger onto her feet - but then came the shout, Robin RUN!, and everything was a blur of motion again. No time for thinking, only reaction. With a cry, Robin tried tossing herself back, hoping to get clear from the creature's grip. It nearly worked, too - except that her feet weren't quite out of the danger around, allowing the monster to get hold of one leg before she could escape.
That hadn't gone entirely as planned. Claws went cutting over skin, and Robin wasn't going anywhere. "Watch it!" she yelped at the creature, as though it should have any effect on its rough handling of her. Toppling, Robin went right over onto her back, a blast of air escaping her lungs. She wasn't just lying still and doing nothing, though; one hand plunged into the pocket of her jacket, and came out with a feeble little pocketknife. Fumbling open its blade, Robin was damned if she knew what she could do with the pathetic thing - but at least she was going to try!

So Louisa who was now Sailor Sirius was something of a nice person and maybe that caused her next move to be stupid. She knew she should be going after the girl but damn it all to hell, she was not letting Robin get hurt!
She ran after the monster which she knew all too well would turn to attack her once she let these words loose, but as long as she wasn't attacked while she protected Robin but no it got her. No no no! Sirius sighed, not having a clue whether this would work as she hadn't been in this situation but she was going to try anyway!
"Collar Bound!" The words bounced from her lips and aimed straight for Robin. She could feel the collar traveling around Robin and she hoped it would mean that the monster would let go of her leg, if not they were both in trouble... and there was still the girl... but Sirius couldn't loose concentration, not right now, she had to make sure Robin was safe.
"Oi you fat ugly monster!" It worked with youmas sometimes... oh and to throw a stone but she couldn't see any and her concentration was on the ring she hoped would protect Robin. She just needed the monster to look at her and not Robin then she could let Robin go, trap the monster and try to find out who the hell that girl was.

Upon the attack Mandicord was thrust back, growing angrily as blood dripped from it's claws. It had been so close! It was obvious to the creature, Robin had become untouchable. Mandicord's eyes were now ablaze with rage. What would dare come between it and its prey? Blinking and growling in frustration, two piercing yellow eyes turned their attention to Sirius. Mandicord was a primitive beast. Kill, Maim, Gather Energy, Obey Master were the only things it knew, but rage is as blind as ever in the body of a vicious beast.
With it's tail swishing angrily it moved back, unlike before it actually was stepping away. A pit of fangs opened wide and Mandicord let out a signature move, ROAR. The sound was deafening to the surrounding, leaving the ground to nearly quake at it's ferocity. It was a confusion tactic, to leave its enemies open by extreme discomfort to the sense of sound. Now it's prey was moving into check. Slowly, the roar died down and 200 pounds of angry red fur was tearing towards Sirius.

Something happened - some sort of energy - and suddenly there was a ripping agony in the leg that Mandicord had gotten hold of. Robin screamed out, not even realizing it. The creature had been forced back, leaving long lines of torn flesh down her shin. If she'd been wearing jeans, they would have been shredded --
But suddenly, Robin found, she was safe. Unreachable by the creature. This took a bit of time for her to realize. One moment, Robin was literally standing a foot away from death - she probably could have reached out and touched one of his teeth. Now there was this sort of... energy around her, and Mandicord was taking a few paces back. How? Was it....
Robin's eyes went briefly to the girl shouting for the monster's attention, widening. That was a senshi terrorist, wasn't it? Suddenly, she remembered the business plan she and Cassie had made - I've actually been carrying around a whistle since that first story came out about them. You should too. I swear to god, I won't go down without, without bursting their eardrums or something - damn it, why hadn't she gotten one of those whistles?! She'd gotten distracted, and now --
All regrets were forgotten when a tremendous, snarling sound shook through the alleyway. Curling her arms over her ears, Robin winced and whined beneath the din. It was loud - so goddamned loud! If she'd ever heard a louder noise in her life, she didn't remember! By sheer force of will, though, Robin managed to keep one eye pried open. Just enough to see the monstrous blur launching itself toward Sirius.
"LOOK OUT!" Robin shouted toward her mysterious rescuer, her ears still ringing so loudly that she could barely hear her own words.

Sirius dropped the attack she had let loose. She couldn't hold the force field around Robin and fight and well she had to move. The roar had confused her, it was so loud! Too loud. She wondered whether she could protect herself with her own attack, she hadn't tried before.
"s**t!" The thing was moving fast. She moved as quickly as she could, which seemed to be so slow. She moved away from the direction the strange creature was running and backed up against a wall. Stupid? Yes and no. She looked at the creature and concentrated. She was scared though, this was worse then a youma, it had teeth and claws and it moved so quickly!
"COLLAR BOUND!" She shouted at the monster. If only she get the thing to stay in one place maybe she could get Robin to run. Also where had that girl gone? Oh please work!

The loud roar had given Mandicord an opening, an opening well deserved of such a loyal Cardian. "MANDICORD!" It growled loudly, happily weaving its way towards the prey. Sensing the delicious energy at hand, Mandicord was driving madly forward. Collect, collect, collect! An instinct driving the bulldozer of flesh-tearing beast. The scorpion tail was poised, ready to go again with small black venom bursting from the tip, waiting to be used. Another 10 feet and surely victory...
"COLLAR BOUND!"
...Mandicord had heard the sound. Attempting to keep to its weave it remained resolute on the task at hand. Suddenly it could feel the chill of the energy bounding towards it. Yelping loudly the beast felt it snap near it, but maneuvers at this speed were tricky, delicate and Mandicord was a beast, large and powerful. It flicked to the left but felt the encasing near it. Clutching tightly to the earth it moved for a dodge only to miss the asphalt of the street and skid a yard or two into a nearby parked truck, momentum now a foe against its user. CLANG! It took mere seconds and Mandicord could already feel the light metal twist on impact, body striking full force before falling back to the earth like a sunk rock. Limply, it bobbed its head, writing in the pain it roared back into the night.
Already the blow had dealt a serious toll as roaring had done little more than irritate the air. Shaking slightly, the beast turned back to the now green blur in it's path. With right leg cracking loudly Mandicord moved, growling in agony. What use for a wounded Cardian was there? Kill, Kill, Kill Instinct told it, and so with shattered leg it stood, wounds and all. Standing it glared back to the girl with sharp yellow eyes. The scorpion tail was furious and flailed angrily as an agitated snake. Death or success, that was all the mattered now. Slowly it made an advance towards Sirius, if things went well she would go down easy and it would be able to stalk down the other. If only things were so simple for a beast.

Robin's leg hurt - but that hurt was numbing quickly, shoved beneath her perspective by adrenaline. She was on her feet at last, hobbling a few steps back from the dangerous scene in front of her - but, stupidly curious girl that she was, she wasn't running. Even injured - even close to being slaughtered as she'd been - there seemed to be something that was keeping her on the scene, just a few inches below the panic level that a terrified retreat needed.
The fact that the monster itself was injured now, one leg not functioning properly, probably gave her a sense like she could outrun it if she needed to, too.
All that she was thinking now, though, was Damn! Why didn't Louisa leave her camera?! Forget the meteorite (at least for tonight) - this was going to be a thousand times better for her blog! Maybe a million! Pixi Witnesses Senshi Defeat a Dangerous Creature - no, maybe something more dramatic, like Senshi Rescue! The Day Pixi Met Manticord. Of course, nothing would be better than Pixi Helps Senshi Trounce Monster...
But she wasn't stupid. Robin wasn't going to go rushing in with just her little pocket knife to defend herself. "Go for the leg!" Robin shouted helpfully, still lingering in the area, "You can do it!" Encouragement was the least she could offer. Her eyes were flitting around the area hopefully, looking for some better way to contribute. The shape that Manticord was in, though, what were the odds that the senshi would need help at all?
