They meet many people along the way, including two new characters named Kurogane and Fai. Each character has a past unknown and perhaps not what you would expect.
It crosses over into another series by CLAMP called xxx.Holic.
While Tsubasa has ended, xxx.Holic is still being written.

This would be one of my favorite series. While I love all of CLAMP's work, I find this to be an amazing tale.
