Malkai sat ramrod straight in her chair, writing equipment set out neatly before her on the table. After Kannaroth's outburst at the Hatching, she had decided that the matter of the Terrible Telgar Trio needed some serious seeing-to. It was clear that J'ev had not disciplined them properly, which needed to change. While she could not find fault in the old man's knowledge and teaching ability – he would have certainly ensured the dragons were well taken care of – he was not the type of man to seriously discipline for a cheeky mouth. Malkai, on the other hand, had no tolerance for stepping out of line.

But that was why she needed Telgar riders. The Weyrwoman could not be everywhere at every time to make sure the greens learned their place. That was why she had informed I'dan that she was going to give the Telgar greens each a mandatory mentor. If they problem was they needed attention, she would solve that problem by giving them personalized attention. If the problem was their attitudes, well... it was never too late to re-introduce flogging as a punishment.

"The first rider can come in. Please close the door behind you."

OOC NOTES:
- The room is located inside the Lower Caverns and is sectioned off to prevent Weyrbrats from eavesdropping. Riders have been informed of the interviewing process via Kaveth.
- One person can be interviewed at a time. Once that person has left, the next person may come in. If the title says INP it means an interview is in-progress. If the title says OPEN it means that another rider can enter the room.
- Riders should introduce themselves to Malkai, and then she will ask them questions. Sometimes the questions will be the same, some times she may ask them more personal questions. They are expected to answer honestly, but by all means they don't have to. Feel free to have your characters lie as they wish.
- The players of riders who are chosen for the position will receive a PM informing them of which greenrider they have been assigned to and the duties involved. The player of the greenrider will also receive a PM about which rider has been assigned to their character.
- If there are any questions, please ask in the thread! I will be happy to answer them. <3

L'pin had found himself with a lot more free time on his hands lately then he ever thought possible, the rising of a new Weyrwoman into power and the hatching of the most recent clutch leaving many others hopping here and there doing tasks he would have been made to do. Perhaps it was because Shamth's mood was slowly improving as the weather grew warmer, his actions towards other dragons considerably less...Shamth-like. He was still large and threatening, hating all that came around L'pin with a deep passion, but at least for now he kept most of his hatred on the inside and a calm face on the outside.

Of course free time meant that L'pin was growing idle and wanted something to do, so the moment he heard rumors of being a mentor to a younger Weyrling he jumped at the chance, seeing as he would be occupied with whomever it was he was asked to watch over should everything go smoothly. Shamth hadn't been entirely adverse to the process, though he did grumble, and when L'pin made his way down to the meeting he could still hear a faint echo of his Blue inside his head, scoffing a bit at how their free time together was slowly going to be filled with someone else.

When it was time for the man to enter, he'd been called and motioned in, he took a few steps into the room and kept his eyes level, his head at a position that would give off neither a feeling of superiority or timidity. Basically he went in as himself, a large smile on his face. It's not like he and Malkai were full strangers, as he was pretty sure somewhere along the line she'd snapped out a command or two at him and His.

"Greetings Weyrwoman. I am L'pin of Blue Shamth."

He closed the door before he introduced himself, all the while standing at good attention before their new leader.

"Bluerider Shamth," the Weyrwoman acknowledged his smile with a nod of her head. Smiling was, as usual, out of the question for the goldrider and it was unsurprising that she didn't grin back. Had she, L'pin may have had to fear for his life. "Please take a seat." She didn't bother to gesture where – there was only one other seat in the room – and wrote his name down on a piece of paper. Her writing was so precise and mechanical it would have made a Harper jealous.

Once his name was written, she raised her eyes and fixed the bluerider with her usual unblinking stare. "Now then, tell me what skills you believe you can bring to this mentorship program."

L'pin took a seat as requested and folded his hands against his lap, not really the type to cross his arms or let them hang loosely at the sides of the chair. It was easier and more comfortable this way, though he digressed and decided to move on when the questions started. It was in his best interests to answer honestly to whatever she directed, but then what fun would that be?

"For starters, I'm Holdborne so I have no prejudice against any rider or dragon in this Weyr. Be them female on a fighter or a dragon from an un...expected clutch, they're all the same. They should be viewed as dragons of Telgar and raised to perform like them. I think with a viewpoint like that I can at least teach anyone without showing some preference."

Okay, so maybe he was a little too honest with what he was saying. It wasn't as though he and Shamth were dying to get paired up with someone, it was more or less a way to fill in those hours that they weren't doing anything.

Malkai took notes silently as he spoke, not bothering to give him any kind of physical feedback about what he said. She found that people gave more honest answers when she didn't try and prompt them into saying what she wanted to hear. That combined with the fact that most people tried to fill awkward silences meant that the less she said, the better results she got. It was a tried and true method, and as such one she was not about to give up.

"Viewpoints are expected to be had, Bluerider L'pin. Suggesting that you have no prejudice whatsoever may be so, but that doesn't make you a better teacher, in my eyes, than someone who has the skills but knows his own opinions. If you would like to try and answer my question again with an actual skill set you may try again." The Weyrwoman put down her writing instrument as she finished writing, looking up again at L'pin.

"Or is it that you consider that your best skill with your lack of experience in a Wing?"
