I know this is stupid, but I have a problem. Nothing big. But I can't seem to concentrate on what I'm supposed to. For example, I'm in class and the teacher is trying to explain something to the students. I look at her/him and I try to listen, but evrything seems tuned out. I can't seem to process everything into my head. I don't know if I might have a case of ADD. Even my best friend thought I did. And she was serious. I try to pay attention, but everything seems tuned out. Like I can't understand what they are saying. I'm completely distracted by something else and stay focus on my distraction than on what I'm really supposed to be concentrated on. It's quite confusing actually. I even mentioned it to my mother and she said it was nothing. It's like I'm on my own little world. AHHHH! It kind of bothers me sometimes. I'm a very good student, but my grades have been slightly dropping lately because I haven't stayed focused.

Hello! Well, I'm not a doctor, but it sounds to me that you could have ADD. But this is nothing to be worried about at all! It just means that you might have to go on medcation to help you focus! That would be good because this way, you can prevent your grades from slipping anymore than they already are and you can live the rest of your life (hopefully) not getting distracted by things that aren't as important as what you should be focusing on! Just tell your mom that its something that you're concerned about and that you want to speak to your doctor to see if he has anything to help you focus. In america alone, 8-9% of school aged children have ADD, so you're definately not alone! Even people like Einstien and Walt Disney had ADD! So you shouldn't be worried, just talk to your doctor and he'll help you out! Good luck! smile -Onceuponawednesday

If it is this much of a problem, make and appointment with your doctor and tell them the issue, it is very possible you have ADD. So until you see them, try different methond of paying attention, my friend thinks of the teacher asa distraction and tried to focus of something else in the room and ends up fosucing on the teacher. I doubt it could work for you, but until you see a doctor try to find something thatdoes.

Well it does sound like you could have ADD or something like that. I woudl suggest going to talk to a doctor about it, or maybe a guidence counciller at your school or something. Try talking to someone other then your parents about it who woudl be able to do something for you.

From what you've said so far, it's really hard to assess whether or not you have A.D.D. I know a few people who have it, and one who's is so serious that they just can't concentrate at all without their meds. That being said, it looks like your situation is only current.
Is something bothering you? That could be another reason. If you find yourself being distracted from the same few thoughts than you really need to talk to someone about them.
However if you just go off in your own little world, maybe you just need some rest and time away, leaving you refreshed and able to concentrate.
There's a lot of possiblities, though I don't think you're really A.D.D.

Maybe you should see how things go for a little while. If you have consistently had good grades until now, it is likely that something else could just be distracting. Most people I know with either ADD/ADHD have had serious problems since elementary school (serious as in either discipline problems or poor schoolwork). Everyone tunes out from time to time.
But if you are really worried, or if your grades are continually affected, you could always try talking to your mother again. Or you could try another trusted adult, or even a counselor at the school.

Thanks. It's that I have a friend who has A.D.H.D. And she thought that I might have had it too. I was also wondering. The thing is, I don't really have much to worry about, becuase there is not really much bothering me. So I don't know what could cause all the distractions. However, it could just be me and not wanting to pay attention because I choose not to. If you get what I mean. I don't know. But I think I'm gonna go with the option of talking to a doctor. It seems like the best to me. Oh and....
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
