Do the personality faults still need to be more clearly defined?

Okay so I shook things up a bit here. Her parents are now both tailors, either is or ever was a dragonrider, but I still needed her to have that ‘moment’ so she needed some logical reason for getting on a bloody dragon, so I made her brother a rider. However there is the whole problem with that is, besides the rule about creating a character with a dragon/firelizard/whre is the whole ‘tight knit family’ thing and I don’t particularly want him hanging around. I also think that how I got rid of him in the history would also add another layer to her feelings about dragons. So I am hoping that you would be okay with what I’ve got here, with that in mind. Of course, I have no problems having another go at it if that doesn’t work for ya’all.

(Also, I wasn’t sure if the ‘no killing loved ones’ rule meant no having dead loved ones or no being the one who killed the loved ones XD .)

I also want to point out that it would have happened long enough ago that she is over it and I promise she won’t be going all emo on everybody’s behinds and it doesn’t have any more effect on her personality or motivation than is absolutely necessary. Also, I was worried that three kids might be a bit large for a Ghenza family, with the whole population control bit, but I figured it couldn’t be unheard of and it couldn’t be so rare as to make it a big deal.

It is acceptable to have dragonrider relatives, provided that they stay out of play (unless, of course, you were to custom them into play in the future). Meaning that you can make reference to her dragonrider brother, but you couldn't RP him directly with her or anybody else.

The 'no killing loved ones' means that nobody in the immediate family can be dead. Parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, the like. So, unfortunately, I can't accept anybody with dead relatives regardless of whether or not it would be something that the character would be "emo" about. If I let one, I have to let everybody, and I'm not prepared to lift the ban on relatives yet. If you want the dragonrider brother, he needs to be alive.

Three children, however, is cool.

Name: Koriander
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: Tailor
Rank: Apprentice Equivalent (?) / Candidate

History: It had actually been Orroth’s idea, but he wisely hadn’t told Koriander that. After weeks of nagging and emotional blackmail she finally agreed. It took every ounce of her willpower to let herself be helped up onto the great creatures saddle and had to bite back her repulsion at touching its scaled skin. She clung to her brother for dear life, trying not to think about the massive scaly beast underneath her and its huge razor sharp claws. It began to move and she squeezed her eyes shut but when it took off her breath caught in her throat. She looked down at the ground that was disappearing from underneath her and something clicked, it was like nothing she had ever felt before. The wind pulled at her hair and she relaxed, there was something so right about the experience that she almost forgot she was on a dragon.

After that she knew what she wanted to do with her life. She didn’t make her intentions widely known, even to her family, they probably would have thought she was joking anyway. Kori stopped avoiding dragons and eventually the fear faded into distrust. She doesn’t like them and she doesn’t trust them but she needs them.

Appearance: The tight black curls of Kori’s hair twist and wave down her shoulders held in place by the top part of her hair which is pulled back into a tight knot at the back of her head. Her hair is rarely ever worn in any other fashion, and if it is it’s always up, in a bun or a clip. Her face has soft pretty features, not beautiful but not hard to look at either. Her eyes are perhaps her most attractive feature, a speckled shade of green, almond shaped and lined with thick dark lashes. Her build is not as lithe as her mother’s nor as sturdy as her father’s. Instead she is somewhere in between with strong shoulders, long legs and slim torso without much in the way of a chest or hips.

She has nimble fingers, perfect for a tailor, and strong but slender arms. The motivation to dress her face up with makeup has never struck her and she dressed herself in a pretty but sensible way. All of her clothes were made by herself and most are designed specially to be able to fly in. There isn’t anything abnormal about her clothes specifically, but she always keeps her dream in the back of her mind and ensures that all her clothes are sturdy and practical. Her skirts are all detachable and the pants she wears under them are made of a sturdy enough material to keep her comfortable up in the air should the opportunity arise.

Personality: Introverted would be a good word to describe Kori. She likes to keep herself to herself most of the time and rarely does anything that might cause a conflict. There isn’t very much that she feels overly strong about, and she is perfectly happy to make other people happy. Even if she doesn’t necessarily agree with something that is going on she is unlikely to do anything about it. Some people might say that it’s a cowardice to stand aside like that, but she sees it as preventing greater problems. She is very impassionate, there isn’t much that she cares to strongly about. She works hard just like everybody else, but more out of tradition or habit that out of some kind of pride or love for her work.

Even when she was a little girl she was rather mellow. She never had a rebellious streak, in fact she was a remarkably mature child, though her brothers did everything they could to drag her down to their level. Her humour was always much more subdued; they would laugh and wrestle around on the muddy ground after a rainfall, she would laugh when their mother caught them and made them wash the dirt out of their clothes. She took amusement out of the little things, and preferred whit and cunning over rowdy displays. As she got older her temperament became even more reserved and her attitude became a little bit haughty.

She has always had a little bit of a superior attitude, Kori’s outlook on life was a bit more relaxed than the average person and she felt that that made a notch above the rest, like she could see something they couldn’t. The hostilities between the Ghenzans and the outsiders seems silly to her, though she was firmly in favour of the Ghenzan way of thinking she could tell a lost cause when she saw one. The rules and traditions of Ghenza are natural to her so the boisterous and chaotic ways of the outsiders make her slightly put off but not angry or disgusted. If they could be changed she would have them changed but there isn’t much hope for that.

There is onlt one thing that can get her really worked up; flying. Ever since her first time up in the air she knew that that was what she was born to do. It gives her the drive and the nerve to try and become a dragon rider, despite her dislike for the creatures. It’s not a fear that she had really, just a caution. A chill she got when they moved to suddenly or did something she didn’t expect. Despite the many people who have tried to convince her otherwise, dragons made her uneasy. The rush of flying is the only thing she really wants and she will do anything to get it, even continue as a candidate and to brave the presence of the dragons.

That single minded determination that allows her to move past her uneasiness is also a weakness. When she is set to something it can completely consume her, and make her oblivious to things around her. To achieve her goals she would move mountains but she might not see the repercussions until it is to late.

You're a brave soul going for Ghenza next! XD

Just a few Ghenza-related notes that would change her history up a bit:

- Even without the ban on greenrider mothers, female riders at Ghenza are required to go Between and get rid of all pregnancies, so she can't have a greenrider mother. In the event that her mother is still a tailor (even without being a dragonrider) was she the one who managed her daughter's craft education, since her father would be devoted to his dragon?

Unfortunately, I need to see two more clearly distinguished flaws in her personality. If you want to use shy, then she needs to be shy to the point of being almost incompetent or completely flustered in the face of people. I can see a little bit of judgemental in the "not much hope for change", so you could definitely use that if you want to go that way and elaborate.

Phobias are okay as character traits, but I just don't count them towards her two flaws, that's all. <3

Sorry, I misread some of the Ghenza information.
(I thought the green riders terminating pregnancys
was only for non-married/'official'/what-have-you
type couple.) I'll fix her up quick like a bunny...
