So Miss Chloie and I went exploring in the Ala Moana center yesterday and went into this store called Shirokiya. We knew it was some sort of Japanese store, but that place is definately the best place ever! * We are talking about girls day dolls, Sanrio imports, Kimono's, Obi's Kokeshi dolls, Geta's, $1 English Manga, $5 English Manga, Rows upon rows of New and Used Japanese Manga, English and Japanese Anime boxsets, Music, Japanese and English DVD's and $1 and $3 New and Used Manga!
Not to mention the place is filled with Children's books in Japanese, Magazine and novels in Japanese. Best of all there was only Japanese people when we were shopping there! It was like I died and came back in a Japanese Used bookstore. heart It was nothing short of amazing, that is for sure.
Sorry Borders, my first stop is Shirokiya!

The closest thing I get to that is Kinokuniya. But it doesn't have any of those other stuff. Only some Japanese books and manga. :/

Do you mean the Kinokuniya in NY? If you go across to Jersey there's a market place there with a grocery store and a bunch of little shops. It's called Mitsuwa Market Place. It's too far for me to go regularly, but if you're in the New York New Jersey area, it's a good place. http://www.mitsuwa.com/tenpo/newj/eindex.html

That sounds fabulous~! You guys are so lucky! The closest thing to me is Mitsuwa, and that's like an hour or 2 away from me. <_<; Ugh. I miss the good old days when I lived by SF and had Japan town and Kinokunia.

In Seattle there is a kinokuniya that is attatched to a place called uwajimaya. So you get the book store with all its book, anime, manga, music, and magazines and then uwajimaya is an asian grocery that also has a food court and sells all sorts of kitchen ware, sake sets, toys and whatnot. It's pretty awesome.

Alot of events are held there, but I only went to one; they're not really all that interesting.
Heh~, that's in NJ? And they have a shuttle from Manhattan? I'm going there sometime. =D

Where do you live now? I was just planning a trip to Mitsuwa in Jersey yesterday night. My friend and I have been looking for a fabric called 'bobbinet' and the only place that sells it is on long island. So we figured that while we were taking the 2-3 hour drive there, we could have a 20 minute detour to Mitsuwa! Gonna be the best shopping road trip ever!

Just outside of it in a little military town. Ooo yay~! Go take the detour if it's not too out of your way. I heard Mitsuwa is amazing. LOL.
