A large cave embedded into the side of a large hill. Within this cave was a large quantity of crystalline gems that shone a faint glow when ever light was cast on them. This light was given in small amounts from cracks in the cave's ceiling. At the center of this cave sat a lake of clear water. It apparently led into some sort of underwater tunnel leading elsewhere but that was unimportant at this point in time. Around this lake were varying rock formations a few of which almost looked like small stools and at the center of these "rock stools" sat the scorch marks from a camp fire that had recently been put out. If one concentrated hard enough it would was possible to hear a small chiming rhythm that some believed was the song of the gems.

((Hmm, not my best idea but I think it'll work...))

Standing at the entrance to the cave, Kazuma was brushing his hand across his face as a yawn left his lips. When he removed his hand from his face a small amount of tears mounted up in his eye lids while a deeper yawn made it's way out of his throat. "I really gotta learn to sleep more" He muttered to himself. The one obvious difference from Kazuma's usual messy hair and constantly tired appearance was the fact that his Zanpaku-tou was not at his side and his left arm wasn't resting against it. Instead he was holding it by the hilt with his right hand and the sheathed blade rested atop his shoulder. Entering the gaping maw that was called the cave's entrance - Kazuma soon found himself in a dimly lit part of the cave - the source of this light was a few cracks of sunlight shining down on a blue crystal formation which in turn lit up the cave's walls in a dim blue.

Seeing no reason to get caught up in staring at gems, Kazuma headed deeper into the cave where he was met by a large pool of water roughly the size of the average lake. Seeing some rocks in front of the pool that looked suitable enough to be rested upon - Kazuma decided to do as such. Heading over to the rocks and sitting down on the one nearest to himself, he looked around once more seeing that he was alone. With another yawn he placed his Zanpaku-tou down in front of himself and closed his eyes for the moment - unknowingly falling asleep at the same time.

Venturing up the slope towards his eventual destination, Kinsetsu couldn't help but question himself as to why he had chosen such a desolate region to perform the training. Kazuma had no clue as to why he was summoned to meet him here but it was to allow him to discover his inner spirit as he had done himself. Potentially it was due to the fears of revealing portions of his own inner spirit that led him to a region where no others were reserved. What if he was forced to go shikai, would he kill the shinigami? It was nonsense to think like this and he shut the thoughts out his mind for the time being. Regardless he had reached his destination, the entrance to the darkened cavern.

He descended within the darkness, the slight cracks in the structure became the only source of light as one went further in. He noticed, resting upon a rock was Kazuma, fast asleep. He approached the shinigami as the dripping water echoed as it hit the lake to his side. Once within arms length of Kazuma he tapped his shoulder once.

"Wake up. You will need full awareness for what will occur shortly."

With his head lowered and his arms sloped on his legs, Kazuma had fallen into a light sleep. His breathing was calm for the first few seconds before he started to snore - in some similar sense to a dog growling while showing it's teeth. Kazuma's dream - despite the shortness of it - was completely and utterly insane as if some concoction from an LSD Trip and the hallucinations conjured by Magic Mushrooms. This insanity came to a quick end with a tap on Kazuma's shoulder. The moment his light sleep was broken Kazuma jumped to his feet and shook his head. "Sweet Jesus riding a cow in the Apocalypse" He stammered out, the words he spoke made no sense nor had any viable reason for being uttered. Hopefully Kinsetsu would just let it fade from memory, never to be spoken of ever again. "Oh Vice-Captain, it's you" Kazuma spoke with relief as he turned around to get a full view of the man that had summoned him to this cave in the first place.

Eventually shifting his backside to retrieve his Zanpaku-tou, he rested it against his shoulder once again - after wiping away some dirt that had attached itself to the sheath. "So what brings us to this beautiful little locale?" Kazuma asked - after all a summoning to a location that seemed to be tucked away in one of the little hidden corners of the Soul Society didn't exactly explain why he was summoned and now was as good a time as any to have some light shed upon things.

The befuddled look upon the shinigami's face as he attempted to regain full conscious awareness was rather amusing to watch. The incoherent speech that ensued demonstrated to what extent Kazuma had lost bearing of his surrounding. He awaited till Kazume had fully reclaimed all of his faculties before doing anything. It would be made rather clear that this would not be a leisure meeting.

"I'm glad you are finally awake. Kazuma, I will get straight to the point. Of course you know we in squad 8 are rather observant in order to keep ourselves informative. We do this in regard to the members as well, including yourself. We have watched you and to put it simply we feel you are capable of more than you have demonstrated. All shinigami reach this point and you are at the point where your physical body must meet its spiritual body."

He paused before continuing, allowing the shinigami to digest each and every word. It was rather important he understood all that was being said.

"In order for you to have this meeting occur you need to be pushed beyond a limit, past the limit you believe yourself capable of. In order to do this we will fight here and now. I advice you to come at me with all your skill."

Although he was not nervous with this being his first chance to train an individual he took caution with regards to his approach here. He knew he needed to have Kazuma go beyond his limit, but he himself could not pull out the spirit from its sealed state. Kazuma needed to perform that task on his own. Kinsetsu was merely the tool in this circumstance, by which he would gain that opportunity.

Kazuma looked at Kinsetsu intrigued. His free hand stroked his chin as he listened and his eyes would glance to the side every now and again as his mind wrapped itself around the words of his fellow Shinigami. When Kinsetsu had finished speaking, Kazuma was silent for a few seconds as he processed all of this information in his mind before giving a response. "Alright, so let me see if I got this right..." Kazuma started and before continuing brought his Zanpaku-tou off of his shoulder and dug the bottom end of the sheath into the ground where his elbow soon rested against his hilt - an obvious sign that he had the habit of being fidgety with his equipment. "We're going to fight and push me beyond my physical limits, so that I'll break them and achieve something closer to my spiritual limit yes?"

Kazuma questioned, making sure he had heard it all right and much like Kinsetsu had done with the figures of a spiritual and physical essence - Kazuma did so with a limit on these two with one being broken to come closer to the other. While he awaited an answer a more trivial thought entered Kazuma's mind on how Kinsetsu had phrased his words. 'The way he said that where my spiritual and physical bodies meet, almost sounded like I was going to have intercourse with myself... wait what the Hell?' Kazuma thought and even he himself agreed that his own thoughts were something he wasn't liking. The physical sign of this was when he shuddered as if a breeze ran up his spine.

Undaunted by the constant restlessness displayed in the Kazuma he remained fixated upon the face of his fellow shinigami, awaiting the echo of words to exit his mouth. He seemed uncertain of himself to a degree by asking the question he did, as if he was potentially not fully comprehending the signifance of the events yet to unfold. The statement was made clear the first time, but he would reaffirm the enormity of the training he would perform with Kazuma.

"Kazuma, understand clearly, you will fight till your physical state can endure no more. Through this you will break a spiritual barrier currently in place. It is a test of limits to awakening. Now let us commence, come at me with everything."

His once relaxed stance was no more as he pivoted himself upon his toes in order react as quickly as possible to any potential attack Kazuma may throw at him. It would also serve the purpose of showing how serious he himself was taking the situation, allowing Kazuma to properly gauge the gravity of the training. Bodies would shed blood and more, but in the hopes of gaining consciousness.

Kazuma gave a short sigh listening to Kinsetsu's words that reaffirmed what he originally said. Lifting his sword back up to resting on his shoulder - while gently lifting it off and letting it drop back down on it every second or so - with the small "ching" sound of his sword rattling against the sheath and his shoulder. "Alright boss man, but just so you know - we don't stop until this gave is repainted red or something cool happens, agreed?" Kazuma's tone was obviously comedic in manner after all he didn't plan on dying and wouldn't want to put the Vice Captain in any sort of unrest. Taking a deep breath Kazuma closed his eyes and shut out all the sounds around him. 'I've never seen the Vice Captain in a fight - so I'll have to gauge the gap between our strength - if I'm lucky I'll find an exploitable weakness' Kazuma was thinking out his first move and if the Vice Captain had been watching Kazuma like he said there squad was known for then it was obvious the attack Kazuma would first make would be from the right.

Breathing in and then letting out a rather deep breath, Kazuma opened his eyes while he brought his sword off of his shoulder and in front of himself. His eyes became focused and his posture calm - no fidgeting abound. Gripping the sheath with his free left hand - he removed it but kept it in hand. Slowly he brought his now uncovered Zanpaku-tou back into line. With no indication that he was going to move before actually doing so, Kazuma launched forward from his position with his Zanpaku-tou swung slightly overhead to be brought down on Kinsetsu's head.

Noting the sudden explosion in energy from the muscles, Aurilien was quite ready to parray any strike that would head his way. With the posture of the sword extended above the head it was rather clear the only possible strike was downwards in order to strike the opponent. The strike's energy would come from the source of the user, in this case Kazuma, but as it descended the energy would be transferred outwards. Most would perceive the need to evade by going away from the source of that energy, there however was a better method. As that energy extended outwards and the sword did as well, Kinsetsu rapidly stepped inwards. This maneouver would not cause him any threat at moment and allowed him the opening to launch a counteract since he would be between Kazuma and his sword.

As the sword came down it would find air and would be impossible to strike him with any chance to do harm as the arms of the human body were incapable of bending to such a degree from the body to continue forth the strike with force to hit his body, which would be glued to Kazuma's at moment. While he had stepped inwards he placed one leg past Kazuma, directly behind his stance. With a quick movement of the arm he proceeded to push forward and allow the obstacle of his leg to knock his opponent off his feet. With this maneouver done he took 10 paces back to await the second attempt.

Kazuma's eyes widened slightly at the sudden movement. His eyes were able to pick up the movements but they were a bit slower in registering with his brain as it still tried to piece everything together for a clearer picture. When it finally happened it was all but too late to counter whatever Kinsetsu had planned. "Tch, he's bloody fast!" Kazuma thought before Kinsetsu made his strike - apparently he was holding back either that or trying to annoy Kazuma when he went for a simple push. Luckily Kazuma's stance was a strong one but the strength of the stance would all depend on how strong his legs were at this point and so the push connected. As Kazuma was pushed back all of his weight was forced onto his hind leg and a tremendous amount of pain rushed through it as it tried to keep balance. Gritting his teeth Kazuma did whatever he could to ensure his front foot made contact with the ground again so that he didn't end up wasting that attempt by causing himself more pain.

Eventually it worked. The leg that Kinsetsu had put behind Kazuma had made no contact and therefore the actions that were to take place were different. It was obvious that Kazuma would have to be a lot more careful either that or he could take to suicidal attacks with his rusty Kidou. In any case there had to be an ample way to force Kinsetsu to draw his sword.

His push did not have the intended effect as Kazuma did maintain his balance, quite a feat, although he had not used much force. The intention was rather to have Kazuma fall at the obstacle of his well positioned leg. As he had regained his previous stance location a few yards away he contemplated the next series of events. The goal was to have Kazuma put to the bring and his fooling around with him would not achieve that objective, it was time to advance the scenario.

Unsheating his own sword he let fall idly to the his left side as the point found its way towards the dirt surface. Looking over at the his young discipline for this training he smiled prior to opening the passage of his mouth.

"I'm rather sorry for the lack of seriousness I displayed with your previous attack. It was done for a reason to demonstrate that you yourself must bring forth more in this situation. I did not any intent to kill behind your attempt, without such vigor you will never achieve your objective here. Please come at me with true intent."

He left his sword planted in the ground slightly and shifted his weight once more to be on his toes. His strength had always been his capacity to react to situation, therefore he would likely not be in serious danger here but he was certain Kazuma was capable of posing a threat. All the young shinigami needed to do was remove the restraints that were currently holding him back.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 01, 2010 4:58 pm

Kazuma watched as Kinsetsu at last drew his own Zanpaku-tou and Kazuma's initial attack strategy wasted - he threw away his sheath, as it would only become a hindrance at this point and could easily be retrieved later on. This left his left hand freed up and able to be used for other situations that could certainly be more drastic but they would serve beneficial if used correctly. However before doing anything else, Kazuma stabbed his Zanpaku-tou into the ground while he used his left hand to feel the back of his leg - messing around the strain to make sure it was still fit for use and it was evident that he could still use it as there wasn't much pain from his fat a** all being weighed on one leg.

Kazuma would stand up and listen to what Kinsetsu had to say before coming up with a response. "Heh, you'll have to forgive me too. I was trying to get a feel for you - hopefully learn a way around your skills, but I suppose taking the straight forward approach could earn some fun results" A fresh smile appeared on Kazuma's face and he lifted his sword out from the ground and back into a proper stance. "But before we continue - I'd like to ask you to go all out on me Kinsetsu, if you hold back, I won't see much point in showing a killing intent" Within his words lay an attempt to coax his superior into fighting at his best as well, Kazuma knew that this could be very dangerous and those were just the kind of conditions to get the blood flowing, adrenaline flying and a proper battle started.

It seemed Kazuma easily understood what was meant in his wording as he himself asked for what was needed for him to display full capabilities, Kinsetsu being serious himself. It was quite true if he displayed lethargic attitude towards this fight Kazuma would sense it. He needed to perform a display of serious intent and he knew the perfect method, an old trick he had used on occassions that would combine his scientific mind with his skill at Kido.

"Quite right and I certainly will put forth the appropriate effort. Prepare yourself."

He removed two tubes containing the elements H and O and tossed them in the air in front directioned at Kazuma. He began to build up Reaitsu, but with control as to not kill the shinigami if it hit. Muttering quietly Byakurai #4 the icy blue blast flung out of his arm with extreme velocity. As it insciniarate the tubes the once straight blast began to expand exponentially due to the reaction caused by the elements, inducing conductivity. This was one of his specialties, combining science with shinigami techniques. Kazuma had certainly never seen such an attack and would be in quite a predicament with the few milliseconds afforded to him after the surprise growth of the blast. This was merely a test to see how well the shinigami reacted under dire circumstances. He did not wait for the attack to hit as he was already on the move.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 01, 2010 5:37 pm

Kazuma stood at the ready, watching these two tubes with his eyes until a flash of light shone in the bottom of his sight causing him to look back at Kinsetsu to see him firing the Kidou spell, Byakurai. He lined up to dodge the attack with a plain old role to the side but before that could even happen the Kidou attack had hit those two containers and expanded at an exponentially quick rate. Kazuma knew he only had two choices. The first was to take the full brunt force of this attack and hope for the best or he could jump back and try to make a safe escape in the lake of water - the risks were high in both cases as taking the full force of this attack would surely have heavy consequences and jumping back without looking could very well send him off target. "Son of a b***h, I'm on the wrong side of the cave!" Kazuma yelled as his legs bent down and then quickly extended as he pushed himself off the ground in a leap backwards. The risks would have easily left certain men in a position where it would be too late to act, but Kazuma's instincts and reflexes reacted the second he thought of jumping backwards. The plan came at a price as his back smacked off the corner of the lake before falling into the water in any case he should have been safe from that attack.

Sprawling around under the water - he waved his arms and legs around like an idiot as he tried to fidget with the striking pain on his back - which of course his hands couldn't reach. He was drawing close to the bottom of this water pool before he noticed the underwater tunnel - which may have been useful if he was a more hide and seek kind of person but it was obvious he was the simple type where his plans didn't extend outside of the combat often. "Oh well I asked for this" Kazuma spoke - his words garbled by the water entering his mouth as he spoke. With the time wasted he started his swim towards the top - with hopes that the blast would have subsided.

It was a last resort option it seemed that made Kazuma decide to go within the water as this was quite a dangerous place to be. His movements had led him to the right in front of the lake as he saw Kazuma dive under. For the briefest of moments he felt sorry for what he was about to do, but it was rather brief. Kazuma had shown depth in his abilities beyond what he had recorded on the shinigami. With this he had proven beyond a doubt he was ready to achieve shikai. It was time to seperare his mind from his physical body for the moment.

Without further hesitation as Kazuma remained underwater he placed his hand upon the cool water and spoke the words that would likely end this fight. Hado 11: Bound Lightning. The yellow electrical bolts shot out and into the water. Unfortunately for Kazuma there would be no escape as water was rather conductive and he would not have the time to resurface prior to feeling the damaging energy enter his body and render him unconscious. He took a step back, watching carefully the waters as it was likely he would need to dive down himself to ensure Kazuma did not drown. While in such a state Kinsetsu could only hope he would find within his spiritual body the connection that would unlock the power of a true shinigami.
