 Sunil was attempting to climb a tree to follow a lizard she'd been chasing for a while. She couldn't explain her fascination with bugs, reptiles, anything that moved really. She scrabbled up the tree a couple times, catching on the lowest branch, unfortunately as she balanced on the narrow branch, she fell, straddling the branch for a moment before falling sideways off the branch. As she lay on the ground, she took a mental note to be sure nothing was broken and looked up at the lizard that truly looked like it was laughing at her. She smiled and with a little chuckle, she conceded defeat. "You win this time, my scaly little friend!" She looked around, taking in her surroundings and looking for her next target.

 Keshet was lonely. He hadn't seen Chione in about half a year, and it was high time he assumed the worst: that his beloved Chi had died. He fiercely shook his head, trying to drive away the tears and the rage. He hadn't been able to save her from whatever fate she'd met, and that thought tortured the black stallion. She'd been his childhood friend, his sweetheart, the one he'd taken away from her family, only to lose her a mere season later in the mountains they'd called home. What kind of a mate had he been for the mare he'd loved so long and so well? He'd never forget her. He'd never forget the sweet taste of her when he nibbled on her. He'd never forget her sweet apple blossom scent as she braided flowers into his mane and tail when he dozed after each time he'd nibbled on her. He'd never forget his lady. In the thicket ahead of him, he heard a female voice, and it sounded like she'd been chasing something. The cheerful note to her tone reminded him painfully of Chione, and yet...it was different. It was the voice of someone who wouldn't stop just at braiding flowers into his mane and tail when he nibbled, they might find more interesting pranks to pull. It was then that the mare's scent reached his nostrils. Keshet wasn't quite a kirkani, but he was a pryrin. While his Chi had always smelled sweetly and alluringly of apple blossoms, this mare didn't care so much a perfume as a salty watery tang to her, like the scent of the sea on a warm summer's day, and it made him smile, though regret touched it as he stepped forward to see the blue, green, and old gold mare.

Sunil had immediately pounced for a group of butterflies drinking from a flowered bush. She managed to clap her hooves, thinking she had caught one, but frowned a little when opening them to reveal emptiness. She shrugged it off and lept with the butterflies, wondering what it would be like to fly with them. She was so absorbed in her giggling fun, she had no idea what was going on around her. She jumped after a butterfly, laughing, and managed to catch it in her mouth, panicked, she spit it out into her hoof, hoping it was ok. She nudged it with her nose, watching it get back to its feet. "I'm sorry little pretty, I didn't mean to." If butterflies could give dirty looks, this one certainly was giving her one. She ran over and grabbed it a nice leaf, holding it out as a peace offering. Watching the butterfly flutter away, she sat herself down, hearing something crunch, she turned to see the stallion and flushed, hoping he hadn't seen her little almost death of the butterfly scene. "Um...hi.."

For the first time since the loss of Chi had hit him, Keshet laughed. This mare was so like an innocent filly that she made his heart ache. So similar to Chione, and yet such a different soul....
He shook himself as the young mare spoke to him. "Hello. I'm guessing you live around here, right? I'm just passing through," he said as calmly as he could, swallowing tears of loss and laughter at absurdity. No point burdening a stranger with such a bizarre sight of a stallion laughing and crying as two opposing emotions filled him up and racked his body.

Sunil watched his expression, he seemed sad, but she figured if he wanted to share, he would. "I'm guessing you live around here, right" She heard the question and for the first time in a long time, a true frown fell across her face. "I...I don't remember where I live, one day I was chasing a bird and got too far away, and ever since then, I just follow the bugs, birds, and reptiles and just sleep where I can find a sheltered spot." She forced a smile back on her face, after all, there was no point in dwelling on the sad parts of life. She allowed herself to be distracted by a humming bird for a moment, causing the smile to become a true smile, rather than forced. "Where do you live?"

Keshet cocked his head. "You're a nomad, then, just like my herd when I was a colt. Is it lonely for you?" he asked, seeing that her smile wasn't real. "I live in the mountains back that way," he said, indicating the way he had come from his herd during his wanderings. "My father's herd inhabits those mountains, different families living in different valleys, but always near enough to visit and spend time with. We welcome in all sorts, provided they're willing to live with others, if you wanted to join us," he said kindly. He was hurting inside, true, but this mare seemed very much lost and alone, and dealing with that kind of fear and pain alone was worse than the company he got from his "aunts" and "uncles" and "cousins" and brothers and sister to ease him through the pain of losing Chione.

Sunil thought about the word a moment, "I suppose others would consider me a nomad, although I've never traveled with a herd....at least as far as I can remember, unless you want to consider the birds and bugs a herd. It would be lovely to meet others though. You say your father's herd, do you not consider it your family? You seem to be distanced from them." Since she had never lived with one she wasn't quite sure how a herd worked, she assumed it was like a big family and truly hoped she wasn't wrong. She caught sight of an elusive dragonfly and leaped for it, actually managing to catch it. "Oh! I caught it!! Wow you're a very pretty dragonfly!" She almost cooed at the little bug as it settled itsself on her hoof, actually not trying to fly away. She kind of lost track of the stallion, completely fascinated by the little bug. "I'm Sunil, whats your name, little guy?" She sat patiently, completely expecting a response from the bug.

Keshet had to laugh, fleetingly, at the mare's response to the dragonfly. It still hurt to laugh, and would for some time. "I'm spending a bit of time away from my family. I was looking for someone, but I can't find them, so I needed a bit of time to myself." He looked away at having brought up Chi. "Besides, the herd isn't just my family; it's also friends of my family and their families."
