Theo kicked at the ground lightly as he walked, his shoulders hunched, towards the clinic beside Krystal. To say he was unhappy was an understatement, this.. this appointment was an incredible insult to him and his manhood. Yet, here he was anyways having agreed because the alternative was a miserable Krystal and that was simply not a real option, the green skinned fairy woman had been incredibly depressed lately and even though this whole relationship was her doing Theo owed her at least an attempt to make this family thing work.

It wasn't as if Theo didn't like kids either, although the high pitched wailing some of them did was painful to his sensitive ears. It was just the timing that had been off for him, why was his life so rushed lately? Still, he had had a choice and Theo had agreed to come here, to do this thing for Krystal. Perhaps it would turn out to be a better thing than he imagined and things would finally make more sense, new home world or not. Perhaps something shared between them would heal the rifts that seamed to form at random in their relationship.

Krystal was mainly silent during the walk and offered only a quiet 'thank you' when Theo held the clinic door open for her. She was nervous but determined at the same time. This was important to her, it was the first step, at least in her mind, of making things right, making them as they should be. The fairy woman felt a little bad for the way this had to sting Theo's pride but for all she knew it was her that was the general problem. Either way thus far they had not yet proved compatible enough for whatever reason to have a child on their own.

With a smile that portrayed confidence she didn't feel the blonde lead her partner up towards the reception desk.

It was Nurse Violet working at the front desk today, an odd thing, though these newcomers had no idea. "Hello!" she said cheerfully to them. "I'll run and get the doctor for you, if you'll have a seat." She pointed to the chairs on the other side of the room and moved toward the hallway. Bump. "Ow." She hit the side of the desk with her hip as she tried to move to quickly. She ignored the pain of it--she was used to injuring herself in the middle of a task--and dashed down the hall to find the doctor.

A while later, Ronchas emerged from the back and approached the couple, his usual wide smile across his face. "Sorry to keep you waiting."

Theo had wrapped both an arm and his tail around Krystal while they sat and waited. he was doing his best to be supportive, at least in as much as he understood how she related his actions to support. it was difficult to be of two species from two different worlds, they were both still not fully aware of how everything worked in each other's cultures or society. He smiled back at the doctor but eyes with the wary eyes of a predator. Theo might still be working things out with Krystal but he;d allow no harm to come to her through this doctor business, if anything seemed suspicious he was leaving.

Krystal merely smiled and nodded in return to the greeting, "It's fine sir, we haven't been here long." Time was no issue as far as she was concerned, as long as the desired outcome was met. As long as this clinic did what it advertised she'd wait as much as she had to.

"Good, good." Ronchas replied, smiling. "If you'd just follow me to my office." He went to the door behind the receptionist's desk and opened it, gesturing to the couple to enter before him. Once they were inside, he joined them and closed the door, now holding a folder than the receptionist must have handed him. "Make yourselves comfortable," he said, gesturing that the couple sit in some nice comfortable chairs sitting in front of the desk, while taking his own seat on the other side. "We just got these wonderful new chairs a week ago."

He opened the folder and started looking through the file. "Another genetic incompatibility," he mumbled to himself loud enough for the couple to hear. "That should be relatively simple to fix. Easy enough to fix." He looked up at the couple. "I assume you've been to other clinics who've told you your case is hopeless?" His disappointment in other clinics was clearly apparent in his voice.

Krystal nodded, a troubled look in her eyes "They all refused to help, said it wouldn't work or it'd be too dangerous." She hadn't understood it seemed like so many strange species could reproduce naturally especially here and yet... there had been no luck for them. The fairy had been shocked to find so much of the greatly touted science failing them and she didn't really trust strangers working magic on her body. Still it seemed there was hope here and it was enough for the young woman to cling to for now.

Theo was silent but nodded to affirm Krystal's statement, there was nothing he could add at the moment except maybe a comment on the fact that the chairs were indeed nice.

"There is a bit of risk involved," Ronchas admitted. "But the other clinics just don't know how to handle it." Ronchas grinned at this statement. He, of course, did know how to handle it. There were many incompatible species that had given birth to very healthy children through the shop. He looked through their file, another quick glance telling him what he needed to know. "I believe the serum can help you two," he said very matter-of-factly. "It will just need a little preparation in order to make things work. And some DNA, of course."

"And how exactly is that done?" Theo asked quietly. His people had never been very advanced in such matters and it was only when the children issue had come up that the young man had even learned of the word. It seemed like technology and advanced medicine were both a great source of confusion for him while being the answer to his current problem at the same time.

Ronchas wondered how much to actually explain to him. Without a relatively medical background, much of what the doctor could explain would make little sense. Still, he wasn't about to deny any explanation at all.

"Most species have a different number of chromosomes from the next. Even if they have the same number, it's impossible for the sequences to be the same. The serum I developed allows those chromosomes to mesh perfectly, though I can't tell you how, since that's patented." He gave the couple a smile. No amount of questioning would get Ronchas to explain that in more detail.

"I will have to perform an artificial insemination, so I want to make sure the serum works properly the first time, hence needing some DNA from the both of you." He explained. "To test it."

Theo was mildly less lost than before and offered the doctor an appreciative smile for the effort in trying to explain things to him. " I see" he swished his tail slowly and drummed his fingers on his knees. "As long as you believe it will work I will do whatever is required." He turned his head to smile a little at Krystal as he spoke, amazed at how calm she seemed to be discussing this in a rational way. He wondered if she felt awkward at all of if she was simply maintaining the sort of focus she used when doing magic.

Krystal just flicked her wings once to keep them from falling asleep and nodded. "When can this be done?"

Ronchas was somewhat relieved that Theo didn't ask any further questions. Usually couples were happy with the results without requiring an understanding of the whole process and he'd been worried a moment that that was what he'd been asking about.

"Unless there's any particular hitch in the process, I should have the serum ready within a week," he answered. "I can give you a call then, or you can make an appointment with Selma now." He paused, then remembering something, he tapped his cheekbone. "Oh, yes. That's right. Selma is out today. You'll have to make your appointment with Nurse Violet."

Having Violet act as the replacement receptionist was a very rare thing. Selma was almost never sick. And since she never really did any work while she was here, it was silly to call in sick if she just felt like taking a lazy day. He wondered if it was that again.

But Ronchas showed no outward signs of his inner thoughts, instead, he appeared to be waiting for more questions, in case the couple had any.

The pair nodded not quite in unison, neither had much of a problem with regards to who it was they made the appointment with.

" How exactly is DNA collected?" Theo asked after a moment his eyes on the man's desk instead of the doctor himself. it felt awkward to have to ask such question but they obviously could not move on with the making of the serum until the doctor got the DNA. The man's tail and ears both twitched nervously becuase he knew how children were meant to be made but he had no idea exactly how chromo-whatever they were came into play only that they had something to do with the all important DNA.

Theo simply prayed it was not going to be an embarrassing process, as it was he never intended to explain to his offspring how precisely they came to be.

Beside Theo, Krystal just shook her head slowly, even she could have explained that to him after all the research she'd done and other clinics she'd been too.

"It can be anything from sperm and egg to several strands of hair, though it's always best to have quite a bit if it's the latter," the doctor informed Theo, showing any sign that the first process represented any embarrassment on his part.

"Hair is fine," Theo replied as he stilled his hands . " I have plenty" That of course was an understatement. Theo's mass of long black hair was evident even as tied up as it was, his parents had often joked if it was cut he would only weigh half as much. Sometimes, particularly when his hair was soaked from bathing he tended to agree, at the moment though he was thankful for his long locks.

Krystal nodded "I'd prefer the least amount of invasiveness at the moment please." She knew there would obviously be quite a bit of that later during the actual implanting, she had done her research, but less now was preferred. Her hair was not as long or thick as Theo's but she imagined it would do.

Ronchas nodded. For him, the hair was occasionally the better choice anyway, since with sperm or egg it was only half of the DNA structure in each. Besides, with so many people taking that option lately, he'd practically perfected the method.

Ronchas pulled out scissors from a drawer in his desk and set them on the their side of the table, then again reaching into the drawer he pulled out little ziplock bags and labels, making a label for each of them to add to their folder so he could work with it after.

It was perhaps a little cute the way Krystal took the scissors and carefully cut Theo's hair. She knew he had plenty anyways but the fairy woman still wanted to not affect him or his looks too much and thus took most of her sample from an underlayer that wasn't seen much. it might feel a bit weird while he was washing and brushing his hair for a bit but otherwise it was hard to tell the hair was missing at all happened at all.

Theo took the scissors from her and did his own best to remove what he felt was a reasonable sample of hair while not effecting how Krystal looked in the process. It didn't quite work out but slightly feral man figured she could fix it once they got home if that was needed.
