Well I just heard the news today It seems my life is going to change I closed my eyes, begin to pray Then tears of joy stream down my face
With arms wide open Under the sunlight Welcome to this place I'll show you everything With arms wide open With arms wide open
Well I don't know if I'm ready To be the man I have to be I'll take a breath, I'll take her by my side We stand in awe, we've created life
With arms wide open Under the sunlight Welcome to this place I'll show you everything With arms wide open Now everything has changed I'll show you love I'll show you everything With arms wide open With arms wide open I'll show you everything ...oh yeah With arms wide open..wide open
[Guitar Break]
If I had just one wish Only one demand I hope he's not like me I hope he understands That he can take this life And hold it by the hand And he can greet the world With arms wide open...
With arms wide open Under the sunlight Welcome to this place I'll show you everything With arms wide open Now everything has changed I'll show you love I'll show you everything With arms wide open With arms wide open I'll show you everything..oh yeah With arms wide open....wide open

As the sun made it to the highest point in the clear blue sky a green male covered in vines carried an infant on his back. She lay curled up against his back in his mane where she slept. He was heading to his Father's home to show him this beautiful little girl and such strong emotions filled his chest. Pride, nervousness, happiness, fear, joy...it all mixed together until he could barely think straight. He'd have shook his head to clear it but remembered where the little one slept so soundly. She had been alone crying in the night, rain coming down hard. His mate was away so he'd gone out and used his tail feathers to give her a little shelter. When she clung to one of his big paws and looked up at him so needily he'd simply swooped her up and cuddled her close. Right then he'd made a vow to raise her as his own. And now it was time to show His father the Grinch his new...Granddaughter.

Dare it be said? Old Grinch was grumpier than normal. He was pacing the outside of his cave as if it was his cage, filled with an aggravated energy. What had him upset this time was anyone's guess.
Before Aidan had made it into view though, he'd stopped pacing, ears perked up to listen to the sound, then laid back for a moment as he recognized his adoptive son's footsteps, then up again in alert concentration.
When Aidan made it into view, he would see Grinch standing there in that alert state, listening. Perhaps he had stopped pacing, but his long toes paced for him, tapping swiftly from side to side.
"Well, it's about time you decided to come up this way!" Grinch spoke perhaps little more abrasively than he meant. The second answer turned into a mumbling grump. "Lost those pants, I see. Whaddya want this time?"

Grinch being an adopted Father made him no less of one in Aidan's mind. He'd grown up knowing that stance, how those fuzzy toes tapped in some form of agitation or frustration. But that didn't stop him from padding right up until he stood a few feet away. He gave the big green lion a nuzzle, then sat down and used a paw to lift the infant from his mane, gently laying her between them. "Yeah. I remembered how you did not like the pants or Momo so I left them at the den. Ozzie is out on a hunt right now so it's just me, but I wanted you to meet your...Granddaughter."
Though she was still half asleep, when she was lifted from her cozy little nest in her Dad's mane she mewed in protest. Feeling the ground under her now her little eyes opened. "Why move...? Daddy...?" Her green eyes focus first on her Dad, then on the new lion, also green. But what caught her attention was the fuzzyness that made his toes. She waddled over, batting at the fuzzy toes curiously until giggles could be heard. "Fuzzy!"

Grinch did not answer, staring at Aidan, then down at the cub. He rapped his fur-toes on her head then curled them under so she could no longer play with them. "Granddaughter?" He demanded, looking more agitated then before. "You failed to mention to me that you'd gotten that Ozzie girl pregnant. What are you going to do with it?" He took a cautious step away from the cub.

Aidan had to suppress a chuckle as he watched his daughter's antics, but soon enough he was looking at his Father, shrugging off the agitated feelings. "I didn't...yet. This little girl, Aislin we've named her, was all alone. We searched for several days to no avail." When Grinch stepped back he reached out, scooping the little infant back over to him, gently nuzzling her. "We will raise her. Don't worry, I'm not dropping her on you, just showing her to you because she is technically family now." When he looked back up at his Father his eyes gleamed with mischief. "If you'd prefer not to be bothered, I can just not bring her around to visit you." He was joking of course, but his face and voice held all seriousness. He wanted to see how Grinch felt about little Aislin.
Up until the big lion moved his fuzzy toes away Aislin had been giggling. When he stepped away she began whimpering softly, confused as to why he would. In her mind everybody was having fun like her. But her attention soon fell on nuzzling and pawing at her Father's warm fuzzy chest. "I love Daddy.." A loud purr started up when she was nuzzled, a big smile crossing her maw.

Grinch listened, glaring from the start, to raising an eyebrow and almost looking thoughtful, to lowering his eyebrows again. Out popped his fur toes a second time. Tap, tap, tap.
He snarled at Aidan, standing up abruptly. "Fine. Fine, don't come up and visit. That's fine, just fine. I...I don't need your whines. Fine. That's just fine." He turned his back on Aidan, undoubtedly ready to go find one of his secluded spots.

Aidan hadn't really expected the reaction Grinch had, though he didn't really know what he'd expected. A tinge of guilt gripped his chest as he got up and padded over to his Father, nuzzling up under the fuzzy chin. "I'm going to visit you Dad...I just remember you like your privacy. And I know you sometimes didn't like having me around." One of his big paws moved over Grinch's shoulders then as he pulled him into a lion hug. "You are family, no matter how it happened. Ok? And I just hope you can find joy in seeing little Aislin here. We talked to her about you a lot and she's been looking forward to meeting you."
Aislin had by then managed to squirm her way back over to her Grandpa, nuzzling his fuzzy toes affectionatly. "Grampaw!" Giggles leave her as she rolls over, looking up at him with big green eyes that seem to glow with innocent joy. Her little paws reach up to him, though her tail bats against those toes that interest her so very much. "Love you Grampaw!!"

"No, don't worry about me." Grinch tensed at Aidan's touch, pulling away, and nearly stepping on the cub that had scooted her way over unnoticed. He went to put his foot down, felt her there and left it there in mid-air just barely above her head, long fur toes hanging limply down. His face seemed to limp down with his toes at her words, mouth uncurling below his chin. An eyebrow twitched.
He dropped his foot on top of her, putting down just enough pressure that she might want to wiggle out, but not so much as to hurt the young thing.
"Why do a thing like that?" He huffed.

"Dad I..." Feeling rather tense himself now Aidan very nearly jumped out of his fur when he saw the paw coming down over Aislin. But when he saw how much pressure Grinch used he relaxed, sitting back and tilting his head as he tried to figure out what to say or do. He never seemed to do what needed to be done when around his Father.
To most other infants who saw a paw coming at them they would've either squirmed away or shrieked, but not her. Aislin knew her Grandpa wouldn't hurt her, not intentionally, so when the fuzzy foot pressed against her, she wrapped her paws around it and clung, giving it a hug. "Cause. Your Grampaw and I love you. You act all tough and mean but your really just as warm and fuzzy inside as your toes and eye fuzzies are outside!" A purr started to sound, much like a motor boat as she showed just how happy she felt.

Twitch, twitch, twitch.
Grinch picked up the paw that the cub was clinging onto, shaking it a little to see if she would fall off. "So is that what Aidan says, motormouth?" Shake, shake.
He grumped at Aislin, but couldn't quite hide the surprise in his voice. What cub used sentences like that? What had Aidan found, and where had it come from?

Aidan kept his mouth shut, simply watching as the two interacted with each other. He got the feeling it would be best if he remained where he was for now anyway.
Aislin held on as long as she could until one shake caught her off guard and sent her rolling tail over head. When she finally stopped her lip quivered, tears forming in her eyes. She reached back toward Grinch again. "No...I can see it Grampaw. I see your eyes." Though tears dripped from her eyes now she didn't whimper, simply held her paws toward him.

Grinch's eyes widened, then he snorted, taking steps back away from Aislin. "It's creepy."

Aislin looked from her silent Father to her Grandpa, then rolled to her belly. She couldn't understand why it was creepy, or that she might be getting on nerves. No, she got up and just waddled right on over to Grinch, wrapping her paws around his hing leg. "Not creepy..." Gently she nuzzled against him, just wanting to be close.

"Creepy." Grinch repeated, turning around to take Aislin in his mouth, then depositing her on top of Aidan, jumping up into a tree. He looked at Aidan and Aislin, tail swishing as he stared.
